Is Josh Allen too good to be true?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to StHustle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
my wife came downstairs after the rams scored and said "what happened?!" and I had a strange calm and confidence and replied "It's fine - Josh has got this" That to me was my vote of confidence. -
The End of the Lamar Jackson Era

Yep. Allen got 2 15 yard penalties... took a terrible sack. Hell the team gave up 29 unanswered points. But the guy didn't waver or let the team around him know. -
Gap Integrity & Tackling

He definitely got caught in the wash too much, and caught up field too much. But the zone scheme was moving our guys and creating holes. all over the place. -

Makes sense, they play 11 personnel like the entire game - they also mix in no huddle quite a bit to force buffalo into similar looks. Not everyone's going to be able to do that, but they're one of the best at PA for a reason. -

I probably would - the touch passes have been on so far this year, but I'm not trying to give time to guys like diggs and brown to uncover. -

The ravens just blitzed the crap out of allen, and he failed the test. -

Tend to agree. There were a few drops that were drive killers, and his overall pocket presence at the end of the game was just... panic. The big thing that I noticed was after those drops? He's hanging his head, his body language is poor. I understand being on the field expecting greatness, but you have to exude confidence as a QB - a true field general. Cam Newton to me is a good example of this - he had his MVP campaign and honestly became a bit of a diva. -

70 if u take out the sacks... -
Rams scheme their guys open really well with play action too. That creates space. Their run game keeps them ahead of the sticks. And for whatever reason they never get called for holding. A lot of the jets/dolphins game guys were where they needed to be - honestly fitz just played a good fitz game and his timing and throws were absolutely on-point. Good throws beat good coverage. But you will see guys making plays on the ball and focusing on pass breakups. Once you have a team in 3rd and 8 - those throws become a bit tougher.

The Miami gameplan was definitely built around hiding LB deficiencies. The Rams game was just getting gashed with misdirections all day long. While the team hasn't been getting a ton of sacks, there's been pressure a fair amount. LAR did a nice job moving the pocket, creating bootlegs and half-boots to find soft spots in zone. If you take away the high low read of say woods, higbee, kupp - you've likely over played the one side of the field and an easy throw to an open receiver is available in the middle of the field.

The packers really blew it selecting Love

At one point a guy flew at him like a missile and just bounced right off him. BRO! you have arms! you have hands! USE THEM!! -
Should the Bills bring in Marcel Dareus?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll be interested to see the lowlights of the interior dline. I feel like oliver/jefferson were out of position up field a lot and in turn this caused phillips and butler to get beat up and pushed around. This also leads to linemen getting to the 2nd level and getting to LBs. Something tells me we were out-schemed in the 2nd half - and too much was going on too fast for the team to rally. -

That Kamara TD cost me a fantasy week. They just like... cannot tackle at all. -
Gabe Davis - 4th round steal?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to FlaFitz1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel like every 4th round pick WR just flames out - hell half the first round ones do. I think bringing someone along in a position of strength instead of throwing them to the fire seems to work. He may also just have the "IT" factor needed to be successful at this level. Who knows? -
Game Winning Drive Defensive PI
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely. I felt that this was at least as egregious as that. I personally feel like davis tried to drive inside and he couldnt. I feel like ramsey tied up gallups arm, gallup pulled the arm away and ramsey sold a push off. -
Gabe Davis - 4th round steal?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to FlaFitz1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah - he's carved out a role in a position where the top 3 are well established ahead of him. Same with Mckenzie. Mckenzie reminds me a lot of roscoe parrish as a gadget player - Beane did it right this time though. Waiver claim and 1yr extension. Not a 2nd round pick. -
The last sentence here doesn't make a ton of sense... Do you remember anyone beating buffalo deep? And if you blitz all the time, teams will beat you over the top if you don't have the man corners required to run that type of scheme. Buffalo plays a ton of bail coverage and typically he's the deep safety in cover 3, or they will have like a hybrid cover 4 where he's again covering the deep man. The only time you're getting a PD/INT is if they chuck one up deep, and teams don't do that because he has some solid ball skills. Safeties in schemes that play a lot more cover 1 will typically get better numbers, but then you're isolating your CBs on an island, and you will give up deep balls - as well as get gashed by deep overs and rub routes. Buffalo doesn't have the corners to play that style, nor do i think that mcdermott wants to.

I'll say this... The teams 3-0 despite losing the turnover battle so far this year. They have not recovered any fumbles on offense - defense has recovered all 4. On defense buffalo has the 2 picks (milano and wallace), and the poyer forced fumble (i'm not counting the lateral). So 3-0, and -2 TO diff. He missed a couple tackles, but the defensive line was getting bullied. The holes were massive and thats usually indicative of a tired group.

Running game returning as part of top offenses?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to BillsVet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do think a lack of any crowd noise is helping too. I know teams quiet down when your home team is on O, but I still feel its a bit louder than the fake noise. Do you really think McVay is dialing up the same plays, communicating with goff the same with 70000 screaming buffalonians? I'm not so sure. -

I think there's only so many QBs who can just take over a game. If you don't have one - how can you score points? Build heavy along the line, run the ball well, and utilize QBs who are effective at play action. Tannehill can't put the team on his back, but if you have a lead he's accurate and athletic enough to take shots on PA.
