  1. They really screwed up by not doing a coin flip for the Cinn-Buff result. That would have at least given the Bengals their chance at 1, the Ravens their chance at the North. We controlled our own destiny and now we rely on the Raiders. I would rather take my chance with a coin flip then depend on a Raiders win. The game was mostly a pickem anyway (we were favored going into it, they were up 7-3 but we both moved the ball effectively on our possessions).
  2. FWIW I also have been told by a source who knows someone with the bills about the writing a word thing.
  3. I agree, we have zero idea of where along the progress bar he is right now. Truthfully nobody even knows for sure if he had commotio cordis. If it was CC, and they followed the procedure of reducing body temperature and ventilating for a period of time they *should have* started the body warming process and working him off of a vent yesterday. At that time is when you would learn whether he can breath on his own or not. The fact that we didnt hear anything besides (progress) yesterday worries me. But... The caveat is that WE HAVE NO IDEA what is going on in the hospital and all of these little leaks are becoming unhelpful.
  4. Yes, another on team coin flip! Its actually the fairest way.
  5. It is brutal and will certainly impact their psyche. But also football is what they know and is often an outlet for them. In 2008 Washington lost Sean Taylor during the season and continued on. Obvi every player must make the decision that works best for them and I wouldnt fault anyone that wants to take a break. But I also wouldnt be surprised if the team *wants* to play starting Sunday.
  6. Yea Cover1 always does a lot of breakdowns. But I posted YPP because its a little easier to digest. Just 6 tweets with quick breakdowns. Cover 1 stuff is rgeat but a lot more in depth.
  7. I remember a time long long ago. We were 3-1, just coming off an emotional road win against a good conference rival. We had the lowly Steelers coming to town starting a rookie QB for his first NFL start. The next week we had a marquee matchup against the KC Chiefs on the road, in a battle that could decide the one-seed for the playoffs. Classic chance to overlook the Steelers. The result: 38-3 drubbing where Allen threw for 350 yards in the first half and was out for most of the 4th quarter.
  8. Funny enough the preferred QB style for Kurt is Tua. A cerebral QB that has great anticipation and great accuracy. I think its fine to have multiple opinions out there breaking down the same tape. Kurt is consistent in that he always criticizes Allen using his athleticism when it wasnt 100% necessary. Kurt wants Allen to play like Drew Brees when its available and then only utilize his physical talents when there isnt a good play to make within the pocket. It is his personal rubric but I think it will just never happen. Of course if you cant escape the pocket and throw on the run like Allen you will be forced to read the field a bit better or get benched. Guys like Tua and Drew Brees and Kurt were able to do so. They are definitely more cerebral than Josh. But Josh is (more) successful because he can do 75% of that and also make plays happen out of structure. But sometimes he prefers out of structure. The TD to Morris is a perfect example. Yes he could have stayed in the pocket but he imiediately say that Morris beat his man and so ran right to get the throw he wants. Was it "Ideal QB play"? No, Brady would have stayed in the pocket and made the throw. But Josh doesnt have to and thats fine by me.
  9. Tre got beat a couple times by the best WR in the league, it happens. But he also made some great plays contesting catches, which I felt was lacking with Dane. And they threw at him, made him prove it. I thought he played great.
  10. Seriously. In both instances, whether he goes down or not, something flukey has to happen in order to lose. Either Bass misses the chipshot because of the conditions or Miami goes down the field and scores with 30s and a TO. Of those two options which one is more flukey? IMO, I want to be in control of the situation and not give the ball back at all. Miami cant score without the ball, plain and simple. So dont give them the ball and you have to trust your players to make the play. I, and obvi McD, trust Bass to make that kick every time.
  11. So youre right. But I want to amend my statement. Snow favors offense in the matchup of skill positions vs defenders. So if you can get the skill position players the ball offense will win. The snow really impacts the lines and QB play though, so I think overall scoring drops. So on a wholistic level, yes snow favors defense. But what I was replying to was, I believe, a statement about the snow neutralizing Hills speed which is what I was focusing on in my mind. It just didnt come out of my fingers tips clearly.
  12. Weird I think snow favors the offense. Changing directions is probably the hardest thing to do in the snow. So a LB or DB that needs to quickly drive on a ball carrier will be neutralized but if a WR can get going in a straight line (across the middle, on a jet sweep) its not hard for them to keep running. I think disrupting Hill and Waddle will be just as key here than in LA. the snow will make them slower but Hill will still be the fastest guy on the field. Cant let him get to top speed and also cant have Tua get him the ball in stride.
  13. It wasnt all a disaster from the GB game to the Detroit game. Allen and the offense were very good against Cleveland and also Josh was very good against Minny until he short circuited in the 4th quarter with 2 picks and a fumble. With 10mins left in the 4th quarter Josh was 22/29 for 262 1TD and 0 turnovers. I know he had an all time disaster 4th but we were not an inept offense for 4 weeks straight.
  14. Im joking. Im a pretty diehard Yankees fan. Anyway, this is a good read. https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2022/12/15/23511105/miami-dolphins-buffalo-bills-preview-mike-mcdaniel-sean-mcdermott
  15. The ole "Derek Jeter stat padding". Cant be given an error if you dont get your glove on the ball. Is the Milano tackle stat broken down by % of total tackle attempts?
  16. according to betting markets, we are ~3 points better than the Bengals. Obvi things will change between now and our game but if the game were this weekend it would be a pickem basically.
  17. I think theres a disconnect with weather games. The thing is Josh doesnt play great but we usually win the games. So its annoying since we expect and want Josh to ball out. But end of the day a win is a win. Last year the Falcons and Panthers games come to mind. We won both but didnt play great. Another is Baltimore earlier this year.
  18. i dont really get why this move is considered so desperate. We have been in on OBJ for months, publicly had him in for a visit. That right there signals we have wanted to add to the WR room all season. OBJs health wasnt where we wanted it to be, but that doesnt mean we dont want to add at WR. So...we added a guy that we think can help us. It just happened to be Cole Beasley. The other team that courted OBJ was Dallas and they *also* signed an aging vet WR. I dont recall many people here saying Dallas is so desperate. A team that feels they have a chance at a SB wants to add talent to the roster. If you separate the specific player from the acquisition of a WR it is not a desperate move. Would we be calling this desperate if we had signed TY Hilton instead? In a perfect world, yes we wouldnt need to add talent at all. So its an admission that our roster isnt where we want it. But this is no more an admission of that than the courting of OBJ.
  19. SF and LA showed you can disrupt Tua by jamming at the LOS/playing a lot of press-man. Elam was best at press ocverage in college. Itll be interesting to see: 1) if we try to emulate SF and LA 2) if Elam is out there because of his skillset there. Or if he is still benched despite a gameplan geared towards his strengths.
  20. this newer thing that guys will refuse to play on turf is kinda weird. I get data suggests turf creates more injuries but I cant imagine the turf would even make the top 5 priorities when choosing a new team. If you are cleared to play football you are cleared to play football. I saw SO many people saying Tre couldnt/wouldnt come back in certain games because of the turf. Well guess what, he came back on turf.
  21. Jackson went to IR. I think Armstead will be back this week.
