  1. Coffee is for closers - NSFW http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-AXTx4PcKI
  2. I had to look. DYK that Lee Evans has only scored 1 TD against the Patriots despite playing them twice a year for his whole career? I just thought it was interesting to look at the list. Fish 8 Jets 5 Ravens 4 Titans 3 Bengals 3 49ers 2 Texans 2 Chiefs 2 Giants 1 Bucs 1 Cards 1 Bears 1 Raiders 1 Jaguars 1 Packers 1 Browns 1 Colts 1 Pnthers 1 Seahwks 1 Pats 1 Chrgers 1 Rams 1
  3. Chris Spielman. Chris Spielman only retired because the world was starting wonder where Chuck Norris went.
  4. I didn't contend that such a thing would happen at all. All I did was reference a trade from NFL history that was ridiculous and change the dates to the current. What I wrote down was exactly the content of the Herschel Walker trade that Dallas got back. I didn't even remotely suggest that I even remotely expected that it would occur. It was insane at the time and even more ridiculous in hindsight but it DID happen and it only happened because Dallas was willing to listen. My original statement was that I'd listen to everyone about anyone. Surely you understand that's different from saying I'll trade everyone for anything. If GM X calls me up on the phone and says I want to talk about getting Dareus from you I'm not hanging up the phone. Go ahead, make an offer. It doesn't mean I'm taking it but why wouldn't I at least hear you out in case you forgot to take your meds this morning and are channeling your inner Minnesota Vikings? I agree that Evans is probably going to fetch a 4, a 3 if they're lucky. I'd take a 3, for a 4 I'll hold onto him and wait for more players to get hurt this pre-season and see if someone really gets antsy. And once again I don't particularly care for your patronizing tone given that you obviously didn't read what I wrote in the context of the conversation. Just because my post count is low doesn't mean I'm either new here, stupid, or 14 years old. If that's how you're going to respond to people you're no better than the bait trolls.
  5. Is that a roll of farthings in your pocket Ralph or are you just happy to see me?
  6. Nice way to collusively depress certainly salaries without doing it illegally. Nobody will pay big dollars to people like Josh Cribbs and Devin Hester anymore because most of their value has been removed. Of course it also removes one of the strengths of our team and artificially benefits teams with good defenses but hey, wahtever
  7. Since the Ravens were involved in this conversation I'll chip in with this, their WRs suck. A lot. I was at the Eagles/Ravens game and the Ravens couldn't get anything done all night long against any of the Eagles defenses. If they think they're going anywhere they need another WR bad. Such are situations in which overpayments happen. On a semi-related note the Ravens O-line was terrible tonight and Trent Cole owned Michael Oher against the run and pass in the quarter they were both in. Their backup LTs gave up at least 2 more sacks to Darryl Tapp. Tyrod Taylor played 3 Qs for Baltimore at QB and looked pretty decent given it was his forst game after 2 weeks of practice with no OTAs as a rookie. Threw 2 picks though, one in the red zone on a bad decision and pass - can't have that
  8. If you cant make the payments and value your credit rating....
  9. It was encouraging that a lot of the 2nd half improvement came from young guys. Shea was terrific and Aguedelo had a good game as well. Rogers also made a nice impact in his short time on. The three of them collectively with Torres did some nice possession work with good first touches which was an absolute breath of fresh air. I also thought it was interesting in who didnt do much. These games are about playing people off as well as playing them in. Buddle was invisible, ricardo Clark was bad as per usual, jermaine jones was bad. The transformation is in progress. I think it'll be fun.
  10. It depends on what you do with the pick. Charlie Joiner was a 4, Mark Bavaro was a 4, Hell, Andre Reed was a 4. Would you do a Reed for Evans? We can play this game all day you pick a crappy 4th rounder I pick a good one. The odds say that you won't hit a home run with a 4th rounder, but the odds also say that the Bills will win 6 games this year and that Evans will be done in 2 years anyway so unless we're winning the Super Bowl in 2012 what's his purpose?
  11. I am being serious. I originally stated that I'd listen to offers for everyone and you asked if I'd specifically trade Dareus. I don't know what your intent was in asking about that player specifically. Whether it was to make me contradict myself or respond the way I did so you could be dismissive in return. Your question was no more ridiculous than my original statement. Clearly I'm not advocating actively shopping our #1 draft pick from this year. Obviously in my scenario some players would be more expensive than others but that doesn't mean you don't listen. Dareus would be in the very small group of players you'd really have to convince me to deal and if someone wants to throw that deal I'd listen. I don't expect them to but it doesn't mean it wouldn't happen. I counter your question with one of my own, would you trade Spiller? "Realistically" I'd look at any player on the roster who is 30 or older right now or whose contract expires in 2 years or less that we likely wouldn't want to re-sign (Donte Whitner at the start of last year) or who will likely command an insane premium that recent team history suggests we won't meet (see also Paul Pozluszny, Jason Peters, Nate Clements, Antoine Winfield, Jabari Greer). I'm writing off 2011 and 2012 and looking at 2013. If players are not going to be on the team in 2013 I move them now and collect assets that will be on the team in 2013 rather than let them walk for nothing. Lee Evans is one of those players. He will not be on this team in 2013, therefore if AZ or Baltimore wants to turn him into an asset I can use in the future I do it. The Bills would be smart to make decisions like this now and extend Stevie Johnson (if that's their intent) right now rather than after the year and front load the deal like the Eagles have done in order to take care of their player and preserve future cap space (we all know that won't happen and why it won't). If he has another year like last year he only gets more expensive and more likely to fall into the Clements/Winfield category. The Bills are the Florida Marlins of the NFL and need to realize that if they know they can't keep someone (won't is usually more accurate) it's better to get something for them than to let them walk for nothing. They need to embrace the fact that they can only be cyclically good at best. The Marlins are terrible right now but have won 2 WS titles by riding the crest of young talent right before selling it off to restock and build another wave because they knew they couldn't pay Josh Beckett, AJ Burnett, Miguel Cabrera and the like when they were bidding against the big boys in the open market. You've already pegged the Bills at 6 wins this year. How many wins does Lee Evans get you as opposed to anyone else you can put in that spot including anyone else on the roster or any other FAs you could sign? 1? Maybe? What's the difference between 6 and 5? Would you be substantially more satisfied with a 6 win season than a 5 win knowing that Evans could get you something of value?
  12. Depends on the offer, to say you'd never trade someone is foolish. If a team calls me up and wants to make a Herschel Walker type deal for him he's gone right now. That's almost certainly not going to happen but to hang a "closed" sign outside the GMs office is foolish. And not for nothin' Marcell Dareus has played a total of zero downs in the NFL. At this point he has just as much chance to be Wendell Bryant as he does Warren Sapp. If someone wants to give me FIVE players, their #1 pick in 2012, 2013 and 2015, their #2 in 2012, 2013 and 2014, their #6 in 2012 AND their #3 in 2014 I will pack Marcell Dareus' bag for him. That's what Dallas got for Walker, 2 3's, a 5 and a 10.
  13. I totally understand everyone's annoyances with this but one of the upshots is that there will hopefully be fewer car v. human encounters post game. Abbot was scary to cross after the game and I feel like a couple people a year would get picked off. As for the tailgating, people will figure it out. The rules in Philly say 1 car per space, no public drinking etc. I was personally counseled by an on-duty Philadelphia police officer as to how to drink publicly in the lot without being bothered (they pester people with bottles and cans but never look in cups - pour your beer in a cup and you're golden). People will do whatever they need to do to have the tailgate they want to have. With social media technology you don't really need a pre-established spot next to pole whatever. You get there and tweet your location in whatever lot you pick and people come to you. Will the super elaborate set-ups that require multiple car loads of gear be more difficult? Sure, but I suspect those folks get there the second the lot opens anyway and traffic is negligible at that point so grouping up at say McKinley Mall and convoying over isn't that big a deal. Make it fun, make it a new part of your routine. Gather at point X and have breakfast then go over. I know I sound like a shill but bitching about it isn't going to make it go away and realistically there aren't enough private lots to absorb all the cars. From what it sounds like they're only doing Disneyland parking in lots 2 and 3 anyway which leaves lot 5 and E open to do whatever you want. If they leave lot 5 that way it may actually work out better by creating one big tailgating lot for people who want to come super early and leave super late and creating other lots with a regulated less chaotic traffic flow for people who just want to get in and out without driving around and through the post-game tailgaters. The most conflicts I've ever had at a Bills game were around drunk people being pissed off that I was trying to drive somewhere to park my car or leave the lot to go home and my car interfered with their football toss or something.
  14. They haven't already made this abundantly clear to you? There isn't a player on this team that I wouldn't listen to offers for. That doesn't mean give him away but please, call and make me an offer.
  15. No kidding. That's a huge bargain. Though I somewhat suspect that his agent is desperately tying to stir the pot and get more than 1 team involved.
  16. The standing Bison for 2 reasons. 1. It's the only logo in which we actually won anything. 2. It has visible genitalia.
  17. Obviously all of these guys have their own flaws but bargain time is rapidly approaching. While we wouldn't be interested in say Shawn Andrews (just an example) at huge money would we be interested at a cheap 1 yr deal? OT Shawn Andrews - also plays G Nick Kaczur Sean Locklear Max Starks Bryant McKinnie also but I don't think he's interesting LB Lofa Tatupu Matt Roth Kirk Morrison Thomas Davis I'm sure there are others who would either offer an upgrade or at least quality experienced depth
  18. I'm putting on my asbestos underpants before I write this because I know what's coming. Taylor Mays reeks of an OLB to me. He has trouble in coverage as a safety, especially when the play isn't in front of him. Yet, he hits and pursues like an animal and can run like a jackrabbit. He's 6'3" 230lbs so he's a little light right now but I have to believe that an NFL strength coach can put 10-15 lbs on a guy who isn't named Aaron Maybin. He ran a 4.43 at the combine which is sick for an OLB. I wouldn't give up a ton for the guy but he has most of the attributes you look for in a LB already.
  19. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Luck doesn't go #1 next year. This has happened in the past. Once as others have noted to Brian Brohm - if he'd come out as a junior he'd have gone top 5 and maybe #1 overall. He had a coaching/system change and struggled as a senior and dropped all the way into the second round. Luck doesn't play in an easy conference at all and the change of coaching staff is not a plus for his draft status. If he struggles this year the questions will pop up and if another QB like Barkley, who plays in the same conference against comparable competition, outshines him I could see Luck getting passed over on draft day. Luck as #1 QB let alone #1 overall is far from a done deal.
  20. For what it's worth, on his radio show in Philadelphia yesterday, the same Brian Baldinger repeatedly referred to Buffalo as a place that nobody wants to go as a FA and a franchise that won't win. I don't have a link so don't ask.
  21. I'd absolutely be interested in Tatupu. He excels in coverage which is something we sorely lack in the middle and if we're at all concerned about his knees a move to a 34 would help him as it reduces the amount of ground he has to cover. He's a little short at 6' but he's 250 lbs so he definitely thick enough and frankly shorter guys can get better leverage inside sometimes which is hugely important. In addition he brings fire to a defense which we have sorely lacked for many years now. Not just words, firey attitude with play to back it up. Honestly I wouldn't be shocked at all to see him with the Pats if we don't get him. The one thing he brings to the table is versatility with his coverage ability. With a guy like that you can disguise coverages and fronts because he can play all 3 downs out of multiple fronts. He can be a 34 ILB, he can be a 43 MLB, he can be a nickel linebacker. His coverage ability alone allows you to do more things with creative blitzing because god forbid he wont get toasted every single time (unlike Poz who was a wreck in coverage). This signing would be huge and there will be competition to get him. Pats and Eagles are 2 who come right to mind.
  22. No they should all want to anyway. RW should use the mind control device that he uses on all of us when it comes time to pay for tickets on the FAs.
  23. Not for nothing but if you were in Buffalo during it's hey day I think you'd probably feel like you were in Eastern Europe about as much as Florida makes you feel like you're in "Mexico"
