  1. Septimius Severus The Lions beat the Christians repeatedly that year at well.
  2. This would be different from now in what way?
  3. It's more than the last drive. There was a 3rd down earlier in the game where they brought Chris Kelsay in from the sideline and had him line up outside, covering Kenny Britt. Fortunately the Titans failed to exploit that, but any defense that intentionally has Chris Kelsay covering ANY wide receiver is foolish. Opponents are playing Wannstedt like a violin. We're running pre-season vanilla defense. Professional offensive coordinators are going to figure out how to beat you. It really isn't that hard when you're that predictable. The only hint of creativity this week was flipping Williams and Moore to opposite sides on passing downs. That was it for the week. With the bye week what day does this week's defensive gameplan get postmarked?
  4. There really should be a special gallery of concept drawing that ran in the Buffalo news that never amounted to anything. If you put half of those drawings into the real world Buffalo is a helluva nice place.
  5. I had sideline passes for an Eagles pre-season game vs. the Raisins. It was extremely cool to see the players up close as well as the former players and media who roam the sidelines. Got to get a pic with Harold Carmichael. He's huge and his hands are small fins.
  6. I've been to the stadium dozens of times but this week is my 6 year old's first time. Are the things they do in the practice shed before the game worthwhile for a little guy or are they more for older kids? He's been to sporting events in the past (baseball, playoff hockey at age 4, HS football, college football, Eagles pre-season) and I never let him to do ancillary stuff they have set up because I want him to watch the game but the Bills stuff is all before the game and if it's fun I'm up for bringing him. Thoughts?
  7. Or if Brady could throw an accurate pass
  8. Well, the Pats got 10 sacks out him by using him as a situational pass rusher so of course we'd try to use him 3 downs. Does Wanny have to fax the gameplan back to TBD for them to mail it in this week or can he mail it in directly from AZ?
  9. Dude, seriously!?!?! You actually wrote this down??? Are you insane?!?!?! Throw some salt over your shoulder, knock on wood, cross yourself, say 30 Hail Marys, SOMETHING!!! ARRGH!
  10. I think that was his plan after he won, but it was probably a Whopper Jr. Did Fez bid 155k?
  11. and even then....it's scary. Last year we were on the 1 and trying to kick a FG and my sphincter was clenched so tight I think I forged a new universe in my rectum.
  12. Tasker wasn't plan B. He was a regular plain old waiver claim. He was on Houston's injured list and they needed to activate him midseason (legal at the time). In order to be activated he needed to clear waivers and the Bills claimed him. Tasker had to report, there was no reneged agreement with Houston.
  13. I'm not sure it was a coincidence that they put him on Plan B after the '89 season. That season was full of locker room turmoil and Fred doesn't strike me as the sort of guy who'd keep his mouth shut or try to make peace in a situation. IIRC he was very outpoken during the 1987 strike and his record after his career speaks to his outspokenness as well. Speaking up is fine so long as it's productive, Fred didn't always strike me as productively speaking out, he seemed more like an opinionated loudmouth. We can wax poetic about how we would have been better in 1990 with him but what did he actually do after he was claimed by San Francisco on Plan B? He played in 6 games, didn't really do anything, and got hurt. He hung on 2 more years with some frankly awful Patriots teams and didn't really do much there either. What's more likely is that after 10 years of playing every snap at a high impact position he was just done and the Bills knew it, only Fred didn't. After looking, what's unreal is that Steve Tasker was exposed on Plan B after the '88 AND '89 seasons.
  14. It did, it got him the last 2 seasons where he was less than impressive and it got him a fully paid contract this year. It was the last year of his deal and he's 37. The Bills got him to the end of his contract basically - how much more patience do you want? They weren't going to re-sign him this off-season and there's nothing saying he wouldn't have retired anyway. He's been shanktastic this year with 6 OOB punts already, her only had 4 all year last year. I also sort of doubt that the kick to Kerley week1 was supposed to go straight down the middle of the field. I'm more worried about the holding aspect than the punting which tells me as a punter at least he's very replaceable. Most consistent player from a terrible era of football.
  15. News flash to Fred Jackson, your starting job is pretty much on the line this week as well.
  16. Doesn't mean it's true though. There might be clauses in the CBA that hurt Moorman's years of service for his pension or would forfeit his remaining salary if he asks for his release. In a situation like that the Bills would be classy to tell us a fib. We'll know if he signs on with another team or not.
  17. If Moorman was so great why did Seattle cut him....twice. Your logic is faulty. Punters are very rarely drafted often spend several years puttering around before landing a steady job and are usually guys you've never heard of before. I seem to remember some uproar when we let Chris Mohr go to keep some guy from NFL Europe...
  18. Also, NFL coaches aren't dumb. They'll come up with an answer to this issue, if only for TB games. My solution is to line up in a kicking formation. It's against the rules to line up directly over the center and blow him up. Snap the ball to the holder, turtle, repeat. Sure it's riskier than standard victory formation but it counters Schiano's crap.
  19. December 3, 1995 @ San Francisco. Darick Holmes fumbles on the 4 yard line. Lee Woodall picks up and runs 96 yards for a TD. Bills lose game 27-17 on that 14 point swing. THAT is why you kneel on the ball there. It wasn't in the last 2 minutes of the game, but it illustrates the point.
  20. Well, we know this much about Dickie J's defense. We can run at them, around them and over them and the more we run the better off we'll be. We'll be able to at least kick field goals all day long so it will come down to mistakes and our defense. If I'm setting the line it's Bills -2.5
  21. I don't care who is getting sacks, so long as someone IS getting them. Our DTs should, in theory, get more sacks than most if they take away the QBs ability to step up in the pocket. This is a big factor against Brady - it is well documented that he has extreme distaste for pressure in his face that impacts his ability to step up. What was disturbing against the Jets was that nobody did anything and they seemed content to hold their blocks at the line, seemingly due to Wildcat action. We clearly don't have the back-end to play that way so come hell or high water our D-Line needs to get into the backfield.
  22. If those games in December matter the tickets will be sold. After 12 years a wait and see attitude has to be expected. October is as late in the year as I'm willing to buy in July. Give me a reason to come in December for a change.
  23. I'm not sure I'd want to line up across from him this week that's for sure. Some peole are very good at channelling their anger and frustrations into outlets like sports. If Marcell is one of those people the opposing guard is going to get pummeled and I'm not even sure Marcell will care if he makes the play or not - just repeatedly abuse the person across from him. God help Cassell if he gets there.
