  1. And all this will become a non-issue if we have a Franchise QB who can consistently win ball games.
  2. There has been no proof to indicate whether they are trying or not trying. They say that you need TWO hands to clap. Everyone is chastising the Bills. However, there is no indication that Byrd wanted to stay in Buffalo. Byrd is a WC guy and I am sure is looking at a WC team to make his home for the next 4-5 years. Probably, a winning franchise is also in his mind. I am sure Byrd would rather go to a team that will pay him 28M in guarantee than the Bills 30, if it is a Warm Weather place and has less Income Tax and is a winning franchise. The Bills while holding the advantage with the Tag know very well that Byrd wants to play somewhere else. The Bills did the right thing and hope that they get a 3rd rounder as a compensation in next years draft.
  3. Agreed. The Bills made wise decision to invest in the OL (Paying Wood) and DL (Mario Williams as a FA, Kyle Williams as a home grown product). They have to continue to build around this talent. There is no point in burning 10M /year for a Safety. The Bills have other needs and being a small market team need to be wise with their dollars. And to add, the Bills have some talented players coming up for negotiation: Aaron Williams C.J. Spiller Dareus Gilmore Kennedy famously quoted in 1961: Ask what you can do for the country, not what the country can do for you. These players need to first win games for the Buffalo Bills before asking insane contracts. Byrd, I have a feeling, that wanted to get out of Buffalo and used an "Unreasonable" contract request to do so. There is already precedence for this with Peters. Peters played OL and hence there was a chance to get back a good draft pick. Unfortunately, no one would be willing to pay the bills a good draft pick for Byrd. This was a tough situation and in the end I think the Bills did the right thing.
  4. If the Bills sign a FA WR,then I don't see them spending a high draft at that position. They spent a 2nd and 3rd round on WRs last year.
  5. this . It is the biggest problem and doesn't work in the Bills favor. There are teams willing to give him that 30M guaranteed contract. Does he want to play with a team that goes to the playoffs and gives his 30M or for a team that has not been in the playoffs for 14 seasons.
  6. And one who drops the ball at CRITICAL times because he cannot concentrate!
  7. I don't think he is even the worst QB to don a Bills Uniform. There are a lot more lousy players that have run through the tunnels of RWS.
  8. Schwartz was the HC. Why would you tie the Defensive record on him. It is easy to adapt statistics to everyone's argument. We could easily probably see that the Lions D (under Schwartz as you quote) were better stopping the run than any of the Bills past 4 years defense!!!. I believe the Pettine loss is bad for this team from a continuity perspective, but the Bills couldn't do much about it. They have to move on and Schwartz gives them a credible DC who ran an excellent program back in Tennessee as a DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR.
  9. Kiko,Wood are all 1st/2nd round picks. My point (may be not explicit) was that the Bills have done nothing with the later round picks that have received in trades.
  10. I prefer paying Byrd 8M and losing him next season to getting the 83rd pick in this years draft. That is just common sense. The Bills are already paying heavily for Mario Williams, Kyle Williams and Dareus on the OL. Adding Byrd to the mix probably maximizes their cap hit for the defense. They have to start building the offensive weapons on the roster. There is jut not much talent on that side.
  11. Bingo
  12. I thought Nate Clements got close to a 8M contract from the 49 ers about 6 years ago.
  13. I am ok for trades only if the Bills know what to do with the draft picks. Unfortunately, the Bills have not had much success with draft picks they have acquired in trades. So pass. Please sign Byrd to an extension and build this team.
  14. Happy Birthday to them!
  15. Both heros born on Valentines Day!
  16. Yes/Yes/Yes to the first three. If the Bills Franchise him, they will hold all the leverage. The Bills showed Byrd last year that they will willing to let him sit on the bench if he chooses to do that. I just don't about "It is not cool to play in Buffalo". There are 53 players suiting up every Sunday during Fall and early winter at RWS. However, I do undertsand that Byrd might want to move to a WC team and might be stalling any attempt by the Bills to re-sign him by jacking up his request. The Bills can wipe everything by Franchising him and trading him for a 1st round pick in this years draft or pay him with a contract extension.
  17. Again the onus is on the QB. If opponents are not worried about our QB completing a 3rd down pass, they WILL stack up the line to stop the run and getting the first down. Until our QBs show the panache to beat coverage and get the first down, the result will show us sucking at the situational run game.
  18. I am sure he will be getting his one-way ticket out of Cleveland pretty soon.
  19. The Bills will be better off rather in addressing the TE position. Ebron will be a wonderful pick @ 9 (or after trading down).
  20. The key to the super bowl run for most of the "Run of the Mill" players is still that these guys had phenomenal season/post-season to put their team in that position to make the Super Bowl. Jake Delhomme, Rex Grossman and Rich Gannon (Of the top of my head) all had super seasons. Similar Flacco was super hot last year in the playoffs on the way to the SB win. The bottom line is you still need a VERY GOOD QB On the given day. The question is is EJ consistent enough to put us over the top.
  21. +1. Teams carry 20 Defensive players on game day....Which means they are rotating in/out at least 5-6 players in the game. Why couldn't Hughes be part of that rotation.
  22. The problem is that once the team wins the SB, nobody cares. The 70's Steelers were supposed to be on Steroids on their way to 4 dominating championship. The Patriots were caught for Spygating. There were plenty of rumors about Saints winning with a cut-throat DC. All teams know that they can get away and hence play at any cost. A SB championship is worth more than a few lost draft picks or a 500K fine....The teams can live with that. The same goes for the Seahawks!
  23. Wilson was making excellent throws in tight windows to move the chains. I am yet to see that from Bills QB in a long time since Flutie was throwing the football. Let us give credit where it is due. Our O-Line would look formidable, if our QBs can make plays.
  24. Not today. He made key plays on those 3rd downs....EJ needs to watch and learn how Wilson throws the ball to a moving target. You got to have confidence in your receive and release.
  25. I think the biggest difference in those SB losses were the coaching. Parcells and Johnson can some excellent game plan to stop us and they were successful/
