  1. And we still have Goodwin who was terrific with the long ball.
  2. Sure they do. They have access to the play immediately on the printer. They know why they lost the game (or won for that matter). They do have the best position to view the game.
  3. The bills are already paying a ton of cash to Williams, Wood, Urbik and Pears. They will have to pay Glenn next year. There is no chance for them to trade for Alex Boone.
  4. Brandon Spikes ?? +1. And we know that Mario can demonstrate that intensity. He did it against the Panthers and Ravens, games that we won both times.
  5. +1. The time for the Bills to trade Spiller (If they intended) would have been on draft day, not three weeks into training camp. It will demotivate the players. We are not the Patriots that their team can overcome cutting a player like Milloy or trading their starting DE to Oakland.
  6. Isn't this team an extension of the team that finished 2013......and they appear to have the same problems in 2014. Everyone except Stevie and Byrd (of note) are returning from the previous season. It is not a leap of faith. and by the way Woods clearly said "Lack of focus" not Motivation.
  7. Cousins struggled mightily last year when give the opportunity to run the offense. That was the reason no trades for him developed in the off season. Another possible Rob Johnson "One Game Wonder" kid.
  8. Super. Thanks Wayne
  9. Besides the Wood vs Woods gaffe, I think honestly this team has failed due to lack of focus. So many games were lost because they couldn't focus on protecting the football, or not making the catch that will move the marker, or not making the throw to get the 1st down and kill the clock. We always talks about "if only xxx had done yyy on the play, we would have won" and a lot of times it is because they fail to focus. If Chandler and Stevie focused on protecting the football after the catch, we win at least two games last year.
  10. Here is a snippet from the Bills-Carolina Preview (Posted on buffalobills.coms) “A lot of the stuff was small details, not getting our depth on some routes and stuff like that,” said Robert Woods. “That just takes focus. We’ve got to pay attention to it in the game this Friday. But we’ve been able to get a lot of work in.” The NFL is a parity driven league and a game of inches. Games are won-lost by plays that are made and plays that were just missed respectively. The good teams are well coached and the players are focused in making their throws, catches, tackles, interceptions. The difference in talent level is minimal; It boils down to how they play every snap for SIXTY Minutes on game day. The Bills have been POOR at that Task. A lot of that is mental ability to stay focused and that comes from coaching. The reason a Brady or Manning are successful is because those minute details matter to them and that is the difference between an incomplete pass and a TD.
  11. I think this is where having a veteran QB like an Orton helps the growth of the young QB. That person is not only a mentor, he also acts effecitively as a QB coach. Many of these veteran QBs are backups because they did not have the arm strength to make it as a starting QB, but they have the cerebral side going. Many of the great QBs have benefited from this.
  12. Isn't that the reason he went undrafted. He simply did not have all the measurables.
  13. Also, this OL has been decimated by injuries in camp and has been a patchwork line. The Bills just have to bite the tongue here, take the positives (Like the awesome Woods catch, the sack/fumble by the DL) and move on.
  14. Sorry for not being clear in what I meant. I meant which "Veteran Castoff" currently can take a team to the playoffs....None. Also, Peyton, Montanna, Cutler do not count as castoffs. The only player who did well in that list besides the obvious is Kurt Warner. He took the Cardinals to the SB and still lost it. The only player who won a SB (again besides Montana, Peyton) is Brad Johnson and that was with the strength of that defense in Tampa Bay.
  15. Who is this Veteran QB that you have in mind ? Veteran castoffs don't take team to playoffs. I want Marty Ball....
  16. Can TJ return punts? Have they tried him out there ?
  17. I really doubt Hogan gets ahead of Watkins, Williams and Woods. Woods is the most likely slot receiver on this team or he will inter-change a lot with Watkins when they line up. The Three Ws do give our opponents some match up issue. With Spiller and/or Jackson in the backfield, everything falls on Manuel and the OL to come through. You don't want EJ slowing down. You want the game to slow down for EJ. Different things.
  18. Promo I don't think Good teams need a Great QB to win; but they do need one good QB to manage the game. Wilson was just that for the Hawks last year. My fear on this team is the coaching staff; Do they have the right things to put this team in the right place mentally to win. Too often this team does not play 60 minutes of awareness football...The games against Atlanta, KC are good proof where we let the games slip. Good teams lock it down and take the win. That comes down to coaching.
  19. I see so many words and metaphors to describe Watkins. However, I still can't figure out what differentiates him from the rest of the WRs that were selected in the draft. He definitely does not have the height of a Megatron or Andre Johnson. What is it that really causes him to be an elite talent compared to the others. PS: This is not a rant against Watkins. I love the fact that the Bills traded up and drafted him. From an Xs and Os point of view I simply want to understand why he is different from the others.
  20. And/or take a flyer on a later round QB prospect.
  21. The biggest reason for success for Big Ben early on was his accuracy to put the ball where only his receiver could get it. And then that team had a ferocious defense under Dick LeBeau.
  22. The Running Game needs to kick in too. Too often they couldn't covert 3rd and short to keep the chain moving.
  23. We will know soon. The potential buyers have until end of this month to submit their bid.
