Sabres & NHL 2016-17 - Victor Antipin Signs One Year Deal
QCity replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Once again they play 40 minutes of hockey. Probably should just start watching at the start of the 2nd period. -
No lol that is so far from my point we might as well be speaking different languages. Forget Rex. I'm saying that if you have any Coach X, coaching any Team Y for 30 games, a reasonable assessment can be made of that coach. You are not going to learn anything new in the final two games (one against a team that doesn't seem to care anymore), and it shouldn't change your opinion of him.
-
Ignore the backup QB if you're hung up on it. How about I say one game against a Jets team that has already checked out on the season? The point is these two games are going to tell you nothing that hasn't been learned in the previous 30. We know Rex can beat backup QB's already.
-
Has nothing to do with disqualifying wins or losses. If you can't assess a coach after 30 games and are waiting on the results of two more games against two backup QB's, then you simply aren't capable of assessing a coach.
-
We've seen him coach 30 games. Two games against two backup QBs is the determining factor?
-
We beat three backup QB's in a row earlier in the season and it duped the fans into thinking we were a contender, there's no reason to think beating three backup QB's to close the season will have any different effect. I'm with Tim Graham - I'd sooner advocate for full continuity than for addressing the problem halfway.

You look at that defense and think we're a safety away? -
I'm guessing your evaluation has more to do with his off-field behavior, and I get that. I disagree that he's not a leader. That team without him last year would struggle to crack .500. He pretty much took them to a Superbowl on his back - and deservedly won the MVP last year. Our fan base constantly makes excuses for Tyrod's play due to our injury depleted WR corps, but I doubt half of them could even name the Panthers wide receivers last year. People want to know why they faded this year. Losing Norman and Keuchly is huge, but that team only goes as far as Cam goes. He repeatedly got his bell rung very early in the season with some nasty hits, and there's no doubt it slowed him down. Coddled? Tom Brady is coddled. Newton is probably the least coddled QB in the league, at least by the referees.

Is this the ole' Dilfer-is-better-than-Marino argument?

Doug Whaley - The Tim Graham Feature Story

Not 20, but there are a few teams that don't move with enough urgency or spend enough resources to improve that position, and we are clearly one of those teams.. -
Seriously

I agree with you 100% on this. If your ultimate goal is to make the playoff as a pretender just so we can end this "streak," then yes, keeping Whaley and TT is certainly the way to go. A lot of fans would be thrilled with this. Personally, I don't care about being a one-and-done playoff team. -

It's not hard to figure out. It really isn't All 3 report to the Pegula's. Rex works with Whaley, he doesn't work under him (which is not the way to run a front office). -

Their 7-7 record is a complete mirage, just as their 4-2 record earlier this season was. -

I've asked this question on this forum many times over the years. Blaming EJ on Nix is necessary to keep the "Whaley is a genius" narrative alive. -

How is Miami winning with a 1st-year head coach? Don't they know it takes 3 years? -

Did you sit in the 200 level? 200 level is like church. I've always felt the arena design has a lot to do with it. I've been to many different venues and most tend to amplify crowd noise and energy, while the Key Center seems to stifle it. Even concerts there sound like schitt to me and lack a lot of energy. -

My confidence in Disco Dan is fading, even as the team is winning. That Isle team was on 0 days rest and travelling and they out-hustled us badly in the 1st period. What's up with these slow starts, and will we ever play a 60 minute game? Lehner stole 2 pts for us which is encouraging. The response to the Boychuk hit was disappointing. Remember when that idiot tried to run Eichel last year and wound up hurting himself? -

In this weather you want the Cobblestone district. No way you're walking from Irish Times with the wind chill in single digits. Buffalo Iron Works is literally across the street from the east parking ramp. You can walk out of the bar and cross the street and take the parking ramp right into the arena. -

Hysterical.

We're a running team. -
There are a few out there that consider laughing at the Bills equal to laughing at a deceased relative. Personally, I think a sense of humor is necessary if you are a fan of this team.

They're not good enough to win if they only play 30 minutes of hockey like that. The effort in the first half of that game was pretty sad. At home, four days rest, no travel -- that's on the coach. Luckily O'Reilly woke them up. -
Rex isn't going to another team, he's going straight to a booth in NY and he's going to collect two paychecks.
