  1. Will be up to watch this game at 2am in Japan. I have to sleep because I have to get to work right after!
  2. I've been visiting the site about 10X's a day for years now but rarely post. I'd just like to thank the regular posters for actively participating. Without you, there'd be no worthwhile content to view.
  3. I rewatched the game as well and came away with the same conclusions. EJ played OK, his offensive line and supporting cast didn't. I'd like to see EJ hold his offensive mates accountable though. EJ seems to lack the fire and passion to be a genuine leader for the offense. On another note, I've become very concerned with our Linebacker's abilities to cover running backs in space.

  5. All, I don't post very often but I ran across an article linked below that provides some background and the overall concept of the New England offense. I don't completely agree with the author's premise that the simplification of an offense's play call in the huddle has directly attributed to their success but I thought the X's and O's discussion provided some valuable insight. The article is also applicable to the Jets as they've just hired a West Coast Offense OC. Hope you enjoy. http://www.grantland...-brady-patriots Go Bills!
  6. This is a solid SEC corner. I'm an SEC guy and watched Gilmore all year. He's a great tackler, solid in coverage, and was rarely fooled by the opposing WR. If you watched the real USC at all you'd know that the defense carried them this year with the inconsistent QB play. Great pick and will help our D as a unit!
  7. TBDers, Just wanted to bring the auction to your attention. I saw it advertised and went to the site. Click on the teams to the left once you visit. Hall of Fame, Play 60, and Breast Cancer awareness has good stuff as well. Saw a Dareus signed red helmet you may find interesting to bid on. http://www.NFL.com/auction Most bidding ends 13 September. Thanks
  8. The OL looks pretty bad. I'm also concerned about our DBs! I have the Denver broadcast. When Vern Lundquist says it's "23-3 and the Broncos are rolling" you know it's bad. 338 to 140 total yards so far. Hit the panic button.
  9. I'd offer a different perspective in answering the question as to what defense we play in 2011 by going back to Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey's comments when they were originally hired. I believe both were convinced that the move to a 3-4 would offer long term success vice the short term stability that playing the 4-3 Cover 2 would offer. Buddy's history with the Chargers and their 3-4 system lends credence to this logic as to his familiarity with the system and the type of players that he scouted and drafted for them. The interesting thing about this is the hybrid system that Gailey and Edwards have implemented throughout the season. I believe the decision was based out of necessity rather than desire. Neither Edwards or Gailey are historically tied to the 3-4 system from their past coaching duties. If you look at Edwards career starting in 2002 you'll see that he's spent alot of time coaching linebackers in the 4-3 system. Gailey ran a 4-3 zone blitz system while at Georgia Tech. In the end I believe you'll see the draft and FA pickups focused on developing the 3-4 but the team will continue running the hybrid throughout the 2011 campaign.
  10. I too finished watching the game with the same feeling you mention in regards to Moorman. I don't believe its a physical issue because he crushed a 60 yard punt at the end of the game. Maybe he's being directed to get hang time vice distance...
  11. I just finished "When Pride Still Mattered" about a month ago and I simply couldn't put the book down. The book gives you a great overview of Lombardi's life to include the dysfunctional relationship with his family and the painful decision to leave the Pack and start anew with the Redskins. This book represents one of the best biographies I've ever read.
