  1. I'm sorry but where does the Aaron Rodgers comparison come from? They both play quarterback? They both sat to start their careers? You do know that Rodgers was a 1st RD draft pick chosen to be groomed into the next franchise guy, right?
  2. Hey now...I would like to argue that we are consistently better than Cleveland.
  3. Says who? And which quarterback did Rex Ryan, a defensive coach, kill previously? He went to two AFC Championship games with Mark "butt fumble" Sanchez.
  4. I would have no problem cutting Booboie Dixon, but If you are suggesting it would help the team to release Jerry Hughes...
  5. When was the last time a 6-7 team went 9-7, and replaced one of three 8-5 teams for a wild card spot? I'm guessing never, but that should keep you busy for the next few days.
  6. 1. I can't believe I'm responding to this, as our season is obviously over 2. Pitt does not necessarily have to lose to Denver 3. The Jets do not necessarily have to lose to New England 4. Even with those things going that way, we need to a) win out and b) STILL get an upset from Pittsburgh Nothing about the way the Steelers are playing makes me think they are going 1-2 in their final three. While I think Kansas City is a joke, they're not going 0-3 with this momentum they have now. The season is over and you can look to any one of our pathetic showings as the reason (JAX, NYG, KC, PHI).
  7. I'm also a bit conflicted on this. Perhaps we should have considered it as a major deal-breaker prior to selecting our coach? I'm not even sure I think Rex is all to blame. It's just very frustrating given the talent on the team and I don't want to sit through a rebuild to get him the players he thinks he needs.
  8. As poetic as that sounds, I think it doesn't matter on the playing field. You need to maximize your potential the talent of your players. Often you hear them say that Schwartz just rushed the 4 and they got there, but we had the same team and Wannstadt just rushed 4 and they didn't get there. It obviously has to do with coaching and how the scheme attacks the QB. Sometimes Rex drops Mario into coverage, but other times his blitzes are designed to spring up holes for safeties or corners. It's a different philosophy, and it doesn't maximize your most talented player. If Mario sulks and gets upset by this role, then FINE he's not as great of a team player as you would have liked, but it doesn't mean you keep plugging away. A good coach maximizes his talents and can be adaptive.
  9. I agree that it probably lies somewhere in the middle. You're sort of mad at the player, and I'm disappointed with the coaching staff. Regardless it didn't get done, and the ultimate accountability will likely be that Mario is axed and I think it's a shame. I think we could use that kind of talent, and we've seen previous coaches get that talent out of him. If Mario quit on the team/coaches, etc. I don't think money has anything to do with it, so NFLN and players in the lockerroom that are worried about his salary are unjustified.
  10. I do not understand the criticism of a player based on the money that you personally do not pay them. Mario Williams and Jerry Hughes each have 4 sacks. Last night Khalil Mack had 5. I guess I can blame the players, but you can't deny there's an issue with scheme. I understand what you're saying, and there's nothing I hate more than when players give up or are lazy. But to isolate Mario and Hughes and Dareus, and to disregard their performances in the previous seasons is foolish. They were fantastic. Mario had a huge contract last year and performed admirably. Something changed (the defensive scheme) and it's up to the coaches and no one else to get the best play out of them. All three of those players have not been utilized to their fullest potential.
  11. I don't think this is going to happen, and that is perhaps my biggest fear. I am absolutely fine with bringing in someone to challenge Tyrod (hopefully a first round pick), but something tells me we're drafting a DE after we release Mario and I am fearful that we'll be seeing a premature extension.
  12. 0-5 in games where he throws over 30 passes. 1-5 with the final drive and the game on the line. I don't think Tyrod is the answer and I'm shocked at how many of you do.
  13. Shoot, I honestly meant to quote the other guy who said it was "easy", sorry.
  14. 2-5 and all that. Congrats on defeating the Titans and Texans though. Huge wins. I'm sure the scrambles late and the WIDE OPEN tight end were not outliers.
  15. I meant something different. He can't win a game with his arm. In the midst of a rant I used "taking chances" to describe that.
  16. I don't know what to tell you. If you're satisfied with comparisons to Trent Dilfer, then fine. Congrats, you found your Quarterback.
  17. Yes it is, actually. You took one small part of my "rant" and ran with it. My real point was that when you rely on Tyrod, when you need him to make throws, we lose. That's what I meant by taking chances. When we need a QB late in the game to step it up.
  18. He is 0-5 when he has to pass 30 or more times. 30 passing attempts in todays NFL should not be a huge favor to ask to get a win.
  19. Dear lord, you guys are crazy.
  20. What's your point here? He took a chance at the end of the Eagles game and showed his true colors.
  21. Excellent post. I agree with a lot of this.
  22. I will give credit where credit is due. After a frustrating 9 weeks of not heaving it to Sammy, the last three weeks he has been tossing it his way. That's not entirely what I meant by taking chances, and really you could argue only the one in Kansas City was really double coverage. Sammy himself said if you throw it to me it's 50% a catch 50% I'll knock it down.
  23. Can we stop celebrating cute stats? He throws no INTs because he takes no chances and once won a game with 11 completions. It's a shiny toy and you guys are helpless if you can't see that every time we need a win late he is not capable of making the tough throws. He chokes. If it's not a layup to Clay with no defense on the field the passing game is awful. Seriously, wake up. His stats are not sustainable in games where we need to throw. Look at this game. 50% completion. It's garbage and you are still mesmerized by squeezing out wins against the Titans and Texans. He is the most overrated player on this team and all of his stats will regress to the mean when he is called upon to make throws to win. You guys say that he's the fifth rated passer? The fourth rated passer (Tom Brady) has 230 MORE passing attempts than him. It's not sustainable. You'd have to be a complete sucker to think that he's the 5th best quarterback in the NFL!
  24. If you can't throw from the pocket you don't belong in the league. Your crusade is ridiculous.
