Rex waited till halftime to use the injury excuse today. I'm impressed.
-
3rd and 9. Let's give up on the screen and try and outrun the whole team. Great discipline there.
-
And our ex-QB, and our ex-HC as their OC. It's hard to ignore.
-
This excuse requires a physics degree to comprehend. I have to let it go because another QB also played bad? Help me understand this.
-
How many excuses does this guy need against a 4-10 team at home? Guy throws a pick as I type this. 6 first half points. Wow.
-
Yeah, he puts 6 points on 4-10 teams better than any other QB I can remember.
-
It's more like, we hate that he is on the field. Like, he should be the 5th string, ST only, emergency WR - not the number 2.
-
How can the Offensive Coordinator be upset with the personnel on the field? Isn't that his responsibility? If it means he's made in retrospect, as in he didn't realize Karlos should have been out there, then he doesn't deserve to be the OC.

Just so you understand...every time Tyrod has thrown 30+ times in a game he has not played well and the team has lost. He is 0-5 in games with typical QB pass attempts. I actually think the point stands, that what Kirk Cousins (I'm not saying he's that good at all) did last night is something Tyrod has not shown he is capable of doing. Hopefully he can hang 'em up on the Cowboys today. I would let him loose. We'll see.

what was the Biggest turning pt of season
fridge replied to HelpusAll's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fanboy much? I understand how someone could be satisfied with the QB play this season, but to go so far as to say the Titans game was a turning point for the positive... are you kidding me? That was basically a lone highlight in a sea of failure. To point that game out as a turning point, I have to ask if you even understand what that phrase means? What positively came after that? We have lost 4 of the last 5 games. If anything the Titans game was a sad glimpse of a pipe dream. It was a game in which the offense did not cross the 50 yard line in the first half and Tyrod looked dreadful on 3rd downs. He won the game on his legs which is absolutely not sustainable (I'd prefer not to rely on converting 3rd and 22 when the linebackers are sleeping). -
You could have just posted the bolded, as that was my point - but I'll play along. I appreciate that you took the time to break-down the Eagles' situation in an attempt to decode Foles' downfall. I don't think it's as important as the fact that Foles simply had an outlier season (be it scheme, personnel - the reason is not as important, since most of what people are using to promote Taylor are his stats [the very ones that compare to Foles]). I think your last couple paragraphs are interesting, and I agree that the FA market looks weak. If we bring in a rookie QB to compete with Tyrod, he won't be Lynch or Goff (unless we were to move up in the draft) - so the odds of them beating Tyrod in camp are unlikely. You mentioned Tyrod's contract. We'll see how the team plays their hand, heading into their QB's contract season - but if the Bills front office is thinking like the majoirty of the fanbase, I would expect a nice fat paycheck heading his way. Perhaps it will be easy to get out of, but I just don't think that's what this team needs now. The problem, with being in QB purgatory is that trying harder to cement a player as "your guy" can end up hurting you more in the long run.

Firing Rex could save Marcel Dareus Career
fridge replied to NastyNateSoldiers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Schwartz's D manhandled Manning and Rodgers in back-to-back weeks, and I recall it being one of the most incredible defenses I had ever seen. When we got to third down I had no doubt we would pressure the QB and force a turnover on downs. I would have done everything in my power to keep that scheme in tact. I believe the mistake has already been made, and all this wishful thinking will only bring about more depression to the fan base. We are going into full Rex mode. These players will slowly be removed from the team. We're headed for 20+ years, folks. -
Mario Williams interview ( hard to disagree )
fridge replied to PO16FFS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amazing to watch the fans here try and run Mario out of town. Seems like we are trying to complete the change to the 2014 NYJ Defense and slowly dismantle the only positive thing about this team in the last 10+ years (the front 4). Mario is capable of another 14+ sack season with the right defense. If you'd prefer him to do that on another team, then I have no words for you. -
This simply is not true. I'm not sure why I keep seeing this. He is 25th in yards, and if you want to use the excuse that he missed two games, it is even worse - he's 34th in yards per game. I've said this a bunch, and boy do I hope that I'm wrong, but his stats are so limited due to his lack of attempts, that his passer rating is absolutely skewed and will almost certainly regress towards the mean. If he passed as much as these top QB's that you think he is neck and neck with, he would be throwing picks like crazy and your precious QB Rating would be ruined. You can look to the season where Nick Foles threw for 27 TDs and 2 INTs. He was very safe, but, like Tyrod didn't necessarily use dump-offs for his numbers. He led the league in Y/A, TD%, and QB Rating. He only started 10 games that year, and outside of Philly I'm not sure people thought he was the real deal. Most talked about this regression toward the mean with meaningful pass attempts, and you all know what happened the following year. I am hoping that Tyrod can "progess" but I don't think that it is practical. Kirby, and the other posters that are enamored with these "stats" are looking at all the wrong stats, all the while calling me insane. They're not being practical, and honestly they are setting themselves up for disappointment. It's possible that we just have a very limited offense without a passing threat next season, and Tyrod maintains his very high qb rating (without a lot of yards or TDs), but I don't think that is good for the team, and as we're seeing over time it is not a successful method for winning football games.
-
hmmm where have I heard that excuse before...
-
The only unstable people in this thread are the ones who can't help but throw insults, and are incapable of having a discussion. We'll see how Tyrod progresses next season. I'm not holding out as much hope as you are, but we'll see.
-
Again, you're looking at stats - not wins.
-
What am I looking at? Not wins. 1 for 5 for opportunities to tie or win the game late in the 4th.
-
Tyrod Taylor's completion % the last 5 games: 55.5%, 55.3%, 52.4%, 52.8%, 59.2%. He's not going to have 11 for 12 games every week.
-
Why? That's one isolated incident? See: EJ with Carolina. Tyrod has proven 4 different times this season with the ball late in an opportunity to tie or win that he cannot do that. The knock on EJ with accuracy is incredibly hypocritical. Multiple times in the game yesterday Tyrod's throws were very off base (especially on the run). He had a wide open Watkins on a roll-out to the right and over threw him by 10-20 yards. We will have to agree to disagree. I'm not advocating for EJ to start at all, I just think we can do much better than Tyrod Taylor, especially if we're rebuilding and have an opportunity to go with a young QB. I think he and EJ are much of the same.
-
Honestly, I don't hate him. I am very hard on him because I have witnessed a lot here anoint him,and I know that he's been underwhelming late in games. He is average/below-average. I put him and EJ in a very similar class. Certainly not as night and day as you would believe.
-
Yes, it's not all Taylor's fault. I'm struggling to see who said that it was. The Quarterback is largely responsible for late game drives. No one attributes Cam Newton's late game heroics on Sunday to the center.
-
Do you think Tyrod has showed good leadership late in games, getting guys up to the line quickly and executing the no-huddle?
-
stats, Stats, STATS, STATS, STATS, STATS! to some, are more important than wins, apparently. Here are some stats: Total Yards - 25th Yards/Game - 29th Completion Percentage - 18th Touchdowns - 16th Sack % - 8th worst
-
You actually think EJ Manuel would only win 2 games this season? I mean, seriously? Such revisionists you guys are. He was bad lately, no doubt. He was 2-4 in his last six starts. But guess what...? Taylor is 2-4 in his last six starts! I'll admit, I wanted EJ to start the season. After the Colts game, I realized Taylor's potential and quieted and wanted to see him improve with the team. After the wheels fell off, I'm now sitting here laughing at the way you guys are reflecting on both QBs. Taylors anti-clutch pass at the end of the half on Sunday with no pressure whatsoever was exactly the type of thing that EJ was crucified for. I'm pissed because we seem to be exactly where we have been. It's a never ending cycle. Neither QB has more than 16 starts and neither has been impressive.
