  1. Out of all the optimistic posts I've seen here, this is the one that actually makes the most sense. Simply it's too early. History has shown us so many different examples of failure and success that we just need to give it a bit of time to know for sure.
  2. This man (Carl Paganelli), and his two old brothers have somehow been officials for years and I never understood it. Are we to believe that three very old brothers happen to be the most qualified people to be back judges?
  3. Unveil new uniforms Hire new GM Hire new coach Sign the best defensive FA Draft a QB Some stadium renovations will be ready by the opener
  4. Absolutely. We're having a shouting match where one side simply wants to give him a chance (certainly not annoint him), while the other destroy him. I wish I could say its the result of a significant playoff drought, but I believe it has less to do with fanhood and more tondo with personality and ego.
  5. Its getting to the point where you need to stop. Logic will not get through to reactionary morons. They all listened to ESPN and wanted Geno Smith. They didnt get their guy/are afraid of "reaching". The truth is, everyone of these people CLEARLY would not have supported any all-star QB in their rookie year if it wasn't their guy.
  6. You think Brian Hoyer is better than EJ?
  7. Absolutely fantastic post. It would be unreal to me for anyone to refute this. Not to mention when you compare Wilson's team to EJ's...
  8. Your point doesn't go unnoticed, but I doubt 1 in 5 season ticket holders for the Sabres are from Toronto.
  9. It could be worse folks. Just read the thread linked in the OP.
  10. Which is shocking, because somehow Leonhard managed to miss him ENTIRELY!
  11. Which is the whole point of this thread essentially. Even a guy that we mostly initially questioned/hated like Gailey - He STILL gave us a little run at some point that put our hopes real high. What will happen when Marrone gets to that point? Is he any different? Will he be able to
  12. You're probably right. It's more like they hire a guy that most fans weren't considering, which never rests will initially. We still buy into them quickly.
  13. You're not done. But yeah, it sucks.
  14. I suspect that you're a bit early to literally be done with him, but I think that this is how it works. We start to lose games in both gut-wrenching fashion like yesterday, or in pathetic fashion like the Pittsburgh game and slowly the coach loses respect by fans game-by-game until year three comes around and a majority want him gone.
  15. I agree that because it's their first season they shouldn't be questioned. If this was our first time going through this I wouldn't consider it. I'm questioning them because there's been 5 previous examples that follow a similar trajectory that I can't easily ignore. Do you think Marrone can get us over the hump when his team goes on a run like it probably will either next year or the year after? I'm not so sure anything is different.
  16. This is our sixth new coaching regime since Levy. We usually hate the hiring because it's not a household name coach, but they say enough things that we eventually come around (except for maybe Jauron). We're starting to put together a new tradition. It goes as follows: 1. Fire old coach 2. Hate new coach 3. Buy into new coach 4. Question new coach 5. Have hope for new coach when they get close to a run 6. Want the head of new coach till he becomes old coach I think right now is the quintessential step 4. Between now and next season, we're all going to have our Marrone doubts. Inevitably, there will be one moment between now and his token three years, where we all have a little faith. There seems to be one moment all these coaches get where there is actual hope: Wade Philips - Actually led us to the playoffs Gregg Williams - Had that first Beldsoe season Mike Mularky - Had that last Bledsoe season (infamous Steelers third stringer loss) Dick Jauron - Had that improbable 5-1 start in 2008 Chan Gailey - Comeback wins against OAK, NE and 4-1 start Here's what is on all of our minds right now: Do you think Marrone has what it takes to buck tradition? Or, do you think when he gets his little glimmer of hope (be it next year or the year after) will he choke like the rest?
  17. I'm getting the feeling that we are going to see a lot of these dead horse beating threads from now till next September.
  18. I like the Steven Ridley approach. Bench him and make him walk around all week with a football in his hand. Bring his ego back down to earth (though I have no idea why its so high to begin with). Humble him. If he doesn't want to be humbled, trade him. If he comes back and chokes again, trade him.
  19. Blaming his injury for his play today, after he's gotten a pass the last few games is a bit annoying. I don't think his wrist was bothering him to the point where he can't read the slant pattern and jump on the ball like an "elite" corner would the tenth time the receiver runs that route. It is technically too early to make any concrete judgements on Gilmore, but there's something about his game that makes him difficult to be excitable about. Mostly I think its knowing that he has not, and rarely looks like he's about to make a good play on the ball. Hell, even though he drops it - McKelvin still gets his hands on the ball and tries to make a play on the ball.
  20. Speak for yourself. Don't throw "we" around, figurative or otherwise, when you're talking out of your asssss.
  21. Chargers look like they're actually going to make a solid push. Other than that, even with the head-to-head, Ravens seem capable of winning out to 10-6.
  22. By 4pm it would easily be one of the worst Sunday's of your life.
