Your thread title asks where he came from. Here’s my answer: WR Rashid Shaheed, who has emerged as one of the top deep-ball threats in the NFL. He's got unbelievable top-end speed, plenty of wiggle, excellent hands and is great at tracking the ball. In short, he is a nightmare for safeties and a guy that defense ignores at their peril. It hardly needs to be said that he's exactly the kind of receiver the Bills could use to open up their passing game. So how did the Saints land this game-breaker? Well, he was an undrafted free agent from Weber St. (1-AA school that is the alma mater of Taron Johnson and Damian Lillard), where he tied the NCAA record for most career kickoff returns for touchdown (10, I think). He played WR at Weber St and was productive but not amazing. He was probably on track to be a 5th or 6th round pick, but then he blew out his ACL near the end of his senior year...No NFL combine, no 40-yard dash, and no selection in the 2022 draft. But the Saints had been watching him closely and offered him a guarantee equal to what a fifth round pick would have received. But it wasn't all smooth sailing after that. At 2022 training camp, Shaheed was cut and then signed to the Saint's practice squad, then called up mid-season. His first two touches in a real NFL gameresulted in (1) a 44-yard rushing TD on a jet sweep, and (2) a 53-yard TD pass from Andy Dalton. While he has not been the main focal point of the Saints' offense, he's been a guy who draws a lot of attention and creates a lot of space for others. He made the pro bowl last year and now seems poised to become a star in the league.

I was told he is bailing on the pocket because his left hand hurts. That’s also the cause of his slower running speed and calling bad audibles at the LOS. It all relates to a left hand injury. Who am I to argue with TBD Orthopedic Kinesiologists.

Sure looked like he suffered a head injury on the flea flicker play vs Ravens. Banged his head on turf pretty bad on that play. Sure hope it wasn’t two concussions in two weeks.

I want to thank you for posting and NOT blaming his sluggish speed on an anatomical part that has nothing to do with his hips, legs, knees or feet. Go Bills!!

Is it soooo difficult to say Josh may have lost a step? I saw 340 lb tubs of goo almost sack him. They got to his jersey. I saw him run 8 yds and slide…instead of 28 yds and score a TD. And don’t give me this malarkey “He can’t run as fast because his hand hurts”. That’s illogical. Suffice it to say, it’s ok to love the melon farmer and still ask him to spend more time on the leg machine. It doesn’t mean you’re not a fan; it’s a sign of affection.

Apparently, you can’t admire the QB but make an honest critique. I love JA. Don’t want any other QB. And it wasn’t the Ravens game (loss) that brought about this post. The last three games he has not shown that breakout speed from two years ago. He needs some time on the treadmill.

Just my own observation. We all remember him sprinting down the field, fast, elusive. Stiff arming Kiko Alonso or others. He seems slower. He’s still elusive in the pocket (barely). Is he showing his age already? Or didn’t he work out this past summer? I know they want him to stay in the pocket, but he’s been sliding 15 yards short of where he used to when faster. Perhaps we’ll never see the 15-20 yard designed runs to the end zone Go Bills. Edit: KC basically let him walk that in from 30 yds out. Great timing for Bye week. Let those old bones rest for a week.
