the reality of the situation is we where a competitive team who was a draft or 2 from being at the top. that means 10-6 or 9-7 without losing too many startes. assuming we where to over achieve it is an 11-5 or the inverse performance of 8-8. we act suprise when we put something like 15 guys on IR(by the way about 75% of the starting roster) the wheels fell off. we where what we thought we where. if everything works out well, we can hang with anybody, beat most, and be really close to the playoffs, but not a huge surprise to miss it just a disappointment. whatever our tapered opinions of this team we had at 5-2 are the realistic view of where we were. we were not going to win the division and only be in the hunt for the wild card. step off the ledge guys

thing is the dl is most likely best set for a 4-3, with the need for a pass rusher. the sad part is that our lb corps is not really built for either, and if anything stronger suited for a 3-4 with them, even with their poor play, it is the truth

after the game we will be saying (blank) had a Big Day

realistically nate washington against our secondary. i hope that cj and fitz have a huge game -
we have been running the coaching carousel here in buffalo for a decade now. we have a roster purged of 5 years of bad drafts. udfa sit up and down our depth chart and starting roster. you can not address the coach until you address the talent. I like Chan, he has flashes of brilliance, key word flashes. we can compete with him. if we are talking about age, lets talk nix. guy is 80. if we do anything we should be making sure that whaley gradually starts to see more and more control so that we can make sure the transition is smooth when we lose nix. at 80, he will be gone (from the staff) soon. lets hope that this was whaleys and nixs first no holds bar draft because a few more like it and we will be fine.

Anyone with NFL sunday ticket, can you answer this:
Mango replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i am curious of something. i lived in okc, where I could not get sunday ticket, so got the to go app for the computer phone, and just ran the hdmi chord to my tv. question is, during a blackout will i still get the bills game on my computer since my sunday ticket is registered in oklahoma. i would assume no, but ask because i ran into a sabres fan in colorado who had directv, assuming msg would still come standard, when he realized it didnt, he switched his billing address to a friends or family in buffalo, and now gets all the sabres games because of it. heres to hoping that glitch caries over for me -
spiller- playing behind a probowler. so your point is that we should stop giving the ball to our super productive back and start giving it to the back up. silly. until he is in a position to be a feature back the jury is still out. that is the reality of the situation troup/carrington- have been the only depth we have had at any position no matter how poor it has been easley- serious health problems, no idea what his ceiling or basement is to be fair wang- 5th rounder and we have some ok tackles suprisingly, they all just happen to be hurt moats- actually a decent pick in the 6th round. you expect picks this low to be expendable and he has played pretty well calloway/brown- really we are going to wine about another super low round pick. wahhhh my 7th round pick isnt super great. lets get real. looking at good drafting teams, they hit on the draft at about 50% of their picks. the last 2 seem to have provided some depth wich is good. there was an artice a week or 2 ago and we have something like 11 guys left on the team from the 2005-2009 with 1 from 07 and none from 08. there is no team in the league with a poorer roster than that. take the gun out of your mouth, there is some improvement, but intill there is a roster we cant make realistic judgments. or if you would like you can blow your head off because of 2 failed 7th rounders, a bad 5th rounder, and the guy we have backing up our pro bowler.

also after today we could possibly have 12 guys on IR. that is literally half the starting line up. with 10 yrs of poor drafting we have about 8-12 good players. when they go down we have nobody. fitz threw from his back all game, no depth at wr, no depth at lb,we have about 3.5 really good ol, and a serviceable 2ndary on their best day, when you cut that all in half you have nothing, plain and simple. we have no depth. until we can stay healthy, we really cant say anything about the coaching staff. also in 2008 we showed no flashes of being good, just somehow won games. we play solid football at points this year injuries at wr and ol have murdered us as time has gone on. the d was bad and missing a ton of pieces makes it awful. realism

Brady is a top 5 qb of all time. Should possibly be inducted into the hof while he is still playing. Comparing fitzgerald to him is Plain stupid. Brady does things and makes reads that ally of dc's can't see and he does it in about 3 seconds. We are seeing a few things here. We have some pieces in place but not even half but we are getting there. Our lack of depth at even serviceable positions is pathetic. I think the fact that we went 8 weeks with our current weaknesses is actually a testament to our coaching staff. Intact taking this team to 8-8 is a huge improvement a winning record would be icing I have also thought most of this year that Steve Johnson is not worth nearly the money he is asking. You lock Fred up for the remainder of his career and you offer sj13 an average no 1 reciever contract and get his twitter authenticated because that is what he deserves. Wr is still a position of need. If an an green slips to around 15 you jump. Of a first round prospect falls to the second you get it. Other than that you got to find some help at pb it needs help and depth. I actually think we only need 1 more corner. Regardless of draft choice I think we would be significantly better here with 2 more lbs -
hahaha. illiteracy makes me giggle. (that means you aren't so good at reading and writing)

The Bills are proof that the NFL needs a D-league
Mango replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
so if they werent part of the institutions, it would not be college team. so you want to make college football the developmental league for the nfl, while at the same time getting rid of college football. the state of college football and basketball is totally at the fault of the NCAA. there would be less money collection by the universities if it's job was to actually police these schools rather than just come down on them when a 3rd party gives word of violations. all the NCAA does is collect money, their only real purpose is to create rules and take money, it is not their responsibility to make sure those rules are enforced. -
stevie wont be happy. fitzies contract is for less than sj was asking, which i hope to god that he doesnt get more than a the fitz contract. they arent talking because johnson and co. are most likely not grounded in reality in terms of what he is worth. get pears done first. get freddy a new contract immediately, the guy deserves it. it is also a good bargaining tool as well. if fred signs for similar money to fitz(just slightly shorter due to age) there is no way that johnson can say he is worth more to this team than either of those 2.

Pats surprise and release DB Leigh Bodden...

if the bills are the real deal, the last game of the season will be meaningful, which means he is worth the 5mil or whatever he would get this year -
Fitz has agreed to 6yr 59Mill Contract
Mango replied to buffalo1983's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
these numbers seem justified. i thought he might get a little bit more, but this is solid. front end loaded, so if needed trading him later on could be done with out too much issue. this seems fair for both parties. i am happy. here is the deal, when you have a top 15 qb, you hold onto him regardless. the time it takes to develop a guy, and the chance he flops, really make it necessary to keep serviceable and good qbs regardless of what team it is. i also like the deal, it sets the standard for fred and steve. i know johnson is asking stupid money, well there is no way he gets more than fitz. i see him signing a 6 year 40mil contract guarantee 18ish. fred should get possibly 4 years and something inbetween those 2 guys most likely closer to fitz.. fitzies contract keeps these other 2 a bit more realistic, the numbers i heard flying around seemed a little out of control. -
so a refresher. the skins are missing either on the roster or due to injury. 1. a reasonable qb 2. their #1 reciever 3. their rb 4. their starting mlb we are in huge trouble if we lose this game. how can you lose to a team without a qb or a running game. now take away fletcher, and a loss for buffalo would be devastating in what it says about this franchise. with that i predict a win. handedly
-
its so true. the tin man always had heart, scare crow brains, and lion courage. kelly bruce and thurman had all the tools to be successful. looking back a bit, especially after he tarnished his rep after coming back to set the franchise back a decade, it becomes clear. also note indy with the change over to caldwell. without peyton that team is doo-doo. and neither dungy nor caldwell could dig them out of that hole. there are teams that coaches lift up, those bills and these colts are not examples

1. olb. i am actually relatively pleased with kelsay on the week side but we need a real pass rusher thats not always injured. this will also improve the cb 2. wr. stevie is good. i am sold on him, but his contract negotiation helps put things in perspective. he has one very good year, and wants top 5-10 money. i like him, but hold your horses, youre not that good (hopefully yet) nelson is showing more than promise, but after that we could exchange them all, I don't care. we need another serious threat. if aj green or dez bryant is sitting there at buffalo's 1st pick you run to the podium, and laugh some more at stevie for asking for top 10 money 3. ilb in a 3-4 you can never have to many linebackers 4a qb i am fine with fitz for the time being, but if there is a guy that maybe slips from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd i would grab him and sit him down for the remainder of fitzies contract. this is the only scenario i would touch a qb this year and the reason it is at 4 4b ol. why not nobody ever looks at a team and says that is one crowded ol 5. cb. i think we need help here, but in a 3-4 the added lb help will make them better. i am a fan of the bpa. it may take longer than to build that way, but i really dont think that there is a strong argument against it. you always have the best player you possibly could have had. i hate that the ravens are too good at saftey and lb and dt. how lame are they

Gailey is screwing our draft position

id think about dropping 2 to the dolphins to keep luck out of the division sarcasm -
fred jackson is the only one in the past few weeks to warrant the money they are looking for. fitz is not a 10 mil per year back, and stevie is not a top 10 wr right now. give him top 10 incentives, but guarantee 6.5 a year. with that, they should all be retained

huh? he takes forever to rooster (i said it) the ball back and let it go. i think u made this up

FG vs. Going for TD w/ 4 min left
Mango replied to Buckeye Eric's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the call was fine. we have to remember this is a day where wind blew the ball out on a kickoff. as devils advocate it think we hit a 49 yarder. i didnt mind the call. it was ok. we lost the turnover battle there. naaman had a first down and dropped it either earlier in that series or the series prior. there where a number of things that went into that loss. i have less of an issue with the play call and more with how the ball was thrown. easy td if fitz leads his reciever -
the offense is struggling missing 3 recievers and a slightly gimp stevie. our lack of talent here is shortening the field for us. freddy had some good runs, but he was under 3 yards a carry if you discount the 80 yard td. suprisingly even without impact it seems kelsay and merriman do have presence, it was noticed today. what confused me today was that the dl stopped getting their hands up at. this is why we lead in ints, not our backfield or dl. we create our own opportunity, and today we showed that we dont have the talent alone on that side of the ball quite yet. hopefully it is there just not yet developed. the constant use in teh 1st of saftey blitz with wilson was perplexing to me. so far our greatest player in the secondary was basically deemed non-existent because he was busy failing at rushing the qb. for gods sake, send reggie corner or anybody else in a white jersey. this would be a non issue for me, but it was all 1st half long and i didnt get it
-
most of the 1st half i was getting furious with the amount of saftey blitzes with george wilson. this was really confusing for me. cost us a ton of point in the 1st hal. also the d-line stopped getting their hands up. thats got to be coached. i like gailey, but the things we normally do well where misexecuted this week and it cost us the game. that and both int's where fitzies fault
-
that namaan td was after the play clock, perspective both ints where on fitz. we are clearly missing our wide recievers this week. we have little option to freddy. i bet it hurts stevies contract negotiations. the injuries on d killed an already dieing defense. i dont understand why we couldnt get our hands up in passing lanes
