Tell me you never competed in sports outside of high school without telling me you never competed in serious sports outside of high school. Releasing a player mid year after a loss to prove a point is a terrible idea, especially with a pretty healthy locker room. This is something Gruden would do.

I think it’s more telegraphing. Allen has to do a better job of holding the LB or safeties with his eyes. To Allen’s credit I think he knows where he “should” go with the ball most of the time. But he makes life harder for him and the receivers. The right read might be Diggs on a crosser, but he can’t watch Diggs and wait for him to get a step or make his cut. He needs to look at the back in the flat to hold the LB. Or follow Sanders on the post to keep the safety high. When he makes the throw to Diggs, it’s a great throw and a great catch. But he made the job harder on everybody. The the easiest example is our screen game (which I also blame on Daboll). It’s snap. Stare at the WR in the flat. Throw. If he could look down field for a split second to pause the defense, guys wouldn’t be fighting through traffic.

If anybody is watching the KC game, the difference between the GB OL with Rodgers vs. Love is something we should keep in mind with Allen’s play today and his protection.

I don’t think it’s that we don’t call them necessarily. I mean, we don’t call much with Allen behind center which changes some things too, but I really think Allen is looking for the next big play. He’s got to stop playing with a TD in mind and has to start just playing for the first down, or the next next first down. Keep us in 3rd and manageable. Take the first rather than the home run.

Right, I agree to a certain extent, but let’s take it a step further. The OL is one of the highest paid units in the league. Our DL is the same. Or LB Corp will be next year. So, like, where and how to we fix that? The FO has heavily invested in both lines, we are tight(ish) against the cap, but our heaviest investments are underperforming. So what’s the solution other than “fix it”

Mine goes to Josh Allen.

I don’t think the OL is garbage. I think it’s “meh”. Allen/Dabs could help the line out quite a bit too. I don’t know what The deal is this year, but JA17 seems to be staring guys down from the snap. Even when it comes to screens. It’s not helpful. I get it, Josh is a different breed. He excels at plus that take some time to develop. He is also good on the run. But Jesus, sometimes you have to be able to get behind center and let the ball fly when you hit your back foot on your third step. I put that in Josh and Daboll. We don’t call it, and Josh never lets it go.

Allens choice to go to Diggs on the final 4th down rather than Sanders who was right in front of him cost the team the opportunity at a tie.

No defense of the OL or Daboll here. But…. The last offensive play of the game felt like a microcosm of some glaring offensive issues. Allen drops back. Protection holds up. Allen rolls right for no real reason. He has Sanders open at the stick, but instead decides to thread the needle to Diggs. Allen was bad and the OL were also bad.

Some juju can’t be overcome. We are good enough to win this game with blue pants OR Allen on the Manningcast. But not both. Universe 1, Buffalo 0.

Im not going to defend the O-Line or Daboll a whole lot. But it feels like the last offensive play of the game was a microcosm. Protection holds up fine. Allen rolls left late for no real reason. He has Sanders open at the pylon in front of him. Tries to thread the ball to Diggs. That feels like Josh all season. You can’t be consistent with that type of decision making. He’s young and a great QB, but he has to stop that.

We keep a lot of guys for ST who are waaay down in the depth chart. Does Taiwan Jones block for field goals? He is like RB7, if he’s not blocking that feels like a very teachable skill.

I think number 3 will benefit 1 and 2 greatly. And really the only way we can relieve the pressure off the OL mid season at this point.

What is the context of this text message? Who is it between/from? Good for the league to push this off to the Packers, I guess. But does the league not keep track of who is vaccinated and who is not? Did they have no idea that Rodgers was not vaccinated and was not following league rules? From a 1000 foot view the “well it’s the team responsibility” answer makes sense….unless you spend 8 Mississippi’s thinking about it. Then it doesn’t make any sense. I think there are a number of scenarios in how this all plays out. I am curious how it all unfolds in terms of punishment from the league or lack there of.

I am one of the screen game Haters. Not that we don’t run them, but traditionally they haven’t been very good for us. I noticed it was much better vs Miami. But for whatever reason, screens feel like so much work for us. Peyton made note of something last night I thought was interesting. It has looked to me like Allen has been locking in on receivers early this year, screens included. Peyton made note that Mahomes had been locking in on his screens early in the game, but started to hold the safety’s for a second with his eyes then hit the screen. Not sure that’s thing that’s been happening with Josh, but it is something I immediately thought of when I heard that.

Totaly get that. I’m saying you’d think a young QB who WAS an emergency QB, would understand how important availability is to the league and his employer/team in general.

Right. Get that. But I would think that a guy who was an emergency QB would place more importance on getting vaccinated and how important availability is to his employer.

I am sorry? What did I get wrong? Josh is on IG in close contact with Tanner Gentry. If he doesn’t have the vaccine league rules may provide insight into JA’s vaccine status. Nothing in what was posted shared why Fromm is on the list. And if Fromm isn’t vaccinated, which is entirely possible, it’s wild to me that an emergency player wouldn’t be vaccinated.

We are about to find out if Josh got the Fauci Ouchie real quick. Interesting that Fromm was the emergency QB all last year because of the pandemic and he still might not have gotten vaccinated.
