  1. Yeah, it's pretty amazing that for being a younger, newer coach, McD acts like he came out of the 1980s with his style and philosophy. One would think he would at least be able to look at the top three coaches (Carroll, Harbaugh, Belichick), notice their impressive tenure as coaches, and try to mimic their success. It almost seems like McD looked at Jauron and said "yep, this guy had it right." I don't think McD was ready to be a HC back in 2017 and I don't think he's ready now.
  2. It's not over, but there are problems in all three phases, largest problems being on offense.
  3. Defense isn't the biggest problem right now, but it also isn't good enough. Why is rush defense still an issue? Why can't the pass rush get to the opposing QB? Sacks, turnovers? No and no. Frazier is a conservative, old school DC. Not much in the way of creative, disguised blitzes or stunts. Doesn't exploit any weakness in the opposing o-line. He also believes in the prevent defense and ran it in the 4th quarter against the Browns. 10 yard chunks soon add up to the opposing offense covering the length of field they need to score. The best thing he does is disguised coverages...great. We can only hope Frazier gets a HC offer from another team. Otherwise, he's back next year, unfortunately.
  4. What were the Bills doing before the Pegulas purchased the team? Could it be....trying to rebuild? How effective a job they were doing is debatable, but they were indeed trying to rebuild. The 49ers were trying to do the same thing from 2015 on, and ownership finally hit on Lynch and Shanahan in 2017.
  5. It can be looked at this way. Or it can be viewed as when the current staff took over.
  6. I was counting after Jim Harbaugh. Remember Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly? I counted 2015 and 2016.
  7. I was actually making the point that it can take more than 3 years to rebuild. Lynch and Shanahan have done a great job.
  8. Well, the 49ers have been rebuilding since 2015. The last 4 years they sucked
  9. You got your wish
  10. I think they mentioned Detroit? cut him earlier this year, as well.
  11. In other words a better version of the current Bills defense
  12. Jimmy G gets rattled with a strong pass rush, not very mobile either. Notice the number of times he seemed to go into a fetal position, must have learned that from Tom Brady
  13. McD and Frazier disagree, you should be playing prevent D if you're the Seahawks
  14. Chan Gailey and Buddy Nix, April, 2012
  15. Great touch on the pass by Russ Wilson. How he buys time is amazing.
  16. It is refreshing to watch two teams that play physical, take away defense
  17. The thing i don't like is McD getting a third crack at the OC. i understand that the HC picks his staff, but McD has done a TERRIBLE job at selecting the OC (and SpT coord). I've mentioned this in other posts, but if I were the Pegulas I would hire an offensive guru/consultant and have him pick the OC to be hired; McD will have to live with that. That probably won't happen, but as you mentioned, this looks very bad for McD. Either way, I would hope that if McD gets a third crack at OC it is scrutinized to verify that it makes sense given where JA is in his development and what he needs to succeed.
  18. What if Daboll is more of the problem than Allen? Could Daboll's offense be too complex for where Allen is at this point in his career, as well as a corps of WRs in the first and second year on the team? A lot of plays are taking a long time to develop; I'm sure you saw this by Allen holding the ball far too long. Sure, some of it may be on the WR, but other instances could be that the QB and WRs are trying to execute an offense they don't fully grasp. If Daboll is not catering his offense to where Josh is in his career, that would be a Daboll problem, and by default a McDermott problem. I don't see McD being fired at the end of this year; I do think Daboll could be gone. Any heat that McD is taking for the offense woes is deserved.
  19. Yep. Should be a good game. George Kittle is out.
  20. That is the way it typically works. Do you really want McD to pick a 3rd OC?
  21. Why?! John Harbaugh is in his 11th season as HC, has been to the AFCC 3x in that period, and won a SB. I'm gonna give Harbaugh the benefit of the doubt in OC selections. Harbaugh IS the reason why the Roman/Lamar Jackson pairing is working out. How did Roman do with TT? NoMoreProcess.
  22. It would be a vote of no confidence in McD. Beane most likely wouldn't do that since he and McD are peers in the org chart; the Pegulas would have to get some sort of offensive guru/consultant to pick the OC.
  23. I didn't take it as Wayne saying McD is fired after this year. McD shouldn't get to pick the next OC, which I would agree with.
  24. Yes. If that is the case, it is not saying anything good about McDermott as a HC and his ability to grasp an offense and what he wants it to do. Daboll is being left to his own devices and can't handle it. Roman couldn't handle it either under Rex, but he is flourishing under John Harbaugh. Roman and Daboll could be comparable as Buffalo OC, performance wise.
