Things I don't believe: The Republican Pledge.

November is just around the corner....

Nope, that's not irony. Pick a different word. -
House Republicans to unveil agenda Thursday
Peace replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So we are supposed to prove the existence of something without physical manifestation? If people want to believe, that's fine. No one can prove the existence of god. You don't know if he exists no matter how much you want it to be true. At some absurd extreme, I can't prove he doesn't, any more than I can't prove that a pair of Nike sneakers aren't inside a grammaphone under a dead whale's stomach on Mars. -
Katy Perry's boobs pulled on Sesame Street
Peace replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Arthur Ashe: I'll let you guess the decade based on appearance. Other celebs who were on the Street in the 70s The Pointer Sisters Stevie Wonder Lou Rawls Jackie Robinson Lena Horne Billy Joel Henry Winkler (with an "A" on his chest, of course) Johnny Cash and my favorite: Richard Pryor!!! (who looks high even in his Sesame Street vid) That's a partial list I found on the web. There were others in the 70s but also understand, the show was just getting traction in the 70s so naturally, there are more celebs now than then. -

Marketing? Or doing what the Street has always done: Cater to both child and parent? When my daughter was still in the Sesame Street phase, I enjoyed the celebrities, and because I enjoyed them, so did she. How is that bad? -

You have a bad memory. Pop stars have been part of the Street forever. (So many I can't list...here's the list of just hte "As" followed by the complete list.) * Jessica Alba, defining the word "scrumptious" * Buzz Aldrin, who answers Cookie Monster's question about whether the Moon is a big cookie * Jason Alexander * Maya Angelou one segment with some of the kids and Elmo singing about the fact they like their names 'just fine'. * Kofi Annan, then the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Annan defuses a conflict between the Muppet monsters. Annan has also appeared on Takalani Sesame, a South African adaptation of the series. * India.Arie * Alan Arkin * Will Arnett * Arthur Ashe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_celebrity_guest_stars_on_Sesame_Street -
I actually did not say that. They are clearly Dem-leaning shows. If they fire up their "base" while at the same time rallying people around the cry of being reasonable and not extremist D-bags, I don't see it as a problem. When the Tea PArtiers hold an "anti-gov't spending" rally, am I supposed to say their rally is wrong just because the vast majority of Tea Partiers are Republicans who keep voting in the Republican spending machine? Answer: no. That message, reducing spending, is a good one. And the Stewart rally's topic highlights this. People see a Dem rally and knee jerk that the Dems are socialist anti-American Muslims...instead of seeing a rally around a topic with considering, ie, that we don't have to keep allowing the moronic extremes to rule the debate.
-
I watch and I'm not a "progressive," by which I suppose you mean liberal Democrat. And as Democrats, which they are, so what? Is trying to take the debate out of the hands of the people at the extremes who can't even have a discussion a bad thing? The "Obama is a Muslim trying to turn us into an Islamic state" and "Bush is a tool of Haliburton" crowds HAVE dominated the debate for too long. I do not see that a Democrat or Republican rally calling attention to that fact is a problem. If the Democrats harness an energy to perhaps start to rid themselves of their extremes, isn't that a good thing? Mind you, I don't know that they will rid themselves of their extremes any more than I believe that the Republicans can live up to their new agenda after so many years of having the same agenda and ignoring it. But in both the Stewart Rally and the Contract w/America v2, there are grains of hope.

God is spending the US to oblivion? God isn't the problem. People are. -
Really? Run by comedic entertainers though it may be, I relate more to this rally's agenda than anything the Dem or Reps would put on. I would rather listen to them than a president who never had a real job or a national leader/beauty queen who doesn't read newspapers.
-
Of course, everyone knows they are comedians. But they are not mime clowns. They rare both at their best when pointing out the hypocrisy and idiocy of both party extremes. Although both are unabashedly left, they are not above shaking their head at their own. In that, they help create a better political dialog.

To be "over"rated, you need at least some people to hold you up as amazing, awesome, or greatest. Toto and REO Speedwagon won't be in that club. They were in and out of the top slot--REO lasted longer but still, no one would ever say they were great. Just a short-lived pop rock thing.

I use parallels.

Thanks. Great site. My daughter and I like the Civ tech map but for most games, I have no interest in the disc.
-
What does that mean? I ordered it. My 8 year old daughter and I enjoy playing it. It'll be interesting to see how it works in parallels on my Mac. I'm hoping I don't have to install it in bootcamp but I will if I have to. This is the first time I've used any Windows program on my Mac in years but I can't wait for the port.

Bill, you always try to find something positive to say...not much there so far this season. This will be a long awful season hopefully followed by some good draft picks on the line.

no brainer...except that Young gets paid a TON of cash and why would anyone pay him?

DirecTV to offer games online without DirecTV sat subscription

I had no problems week 1 but this week was terrible. Like you, I had STREAM NOT AVAILABLE for the entire second quarter. After that, it was just fine. I did not have any problems last week or even last year. It was not a bandwidth issue because some streams (ARZ v ATL) came in fine while others, like the Red Zone, Bills, and many others, were STREAM NOT AVAILABLE. DirecTV is getting a big ounce of my complaining time tomorrow. I would love my $350 back at this point since this is not looking like a season I really need to see every play for. -
Maybin needs MAtthews's roid Rx.

That screen was a called play. There was no chance the Bills were converting 3rd and 18 so Gailey called a screen.

Yeah, he should have made 4 guys miss. BUST.
