  1. I don't see him squawking now. These people are douchey. Bible burners are douchey. Flag burners are douchey. Most don't deserve the time of day but they can always get on TV. These Koran-burning kooks are a little fringe church of nothing (cult?) that has succeeded in creating a media frenzy. If 3 Tea Partiers had a Barak book-burning on MLK Day, it would (sadly) be front page news.
  2. I appreciate that the Eagles songs are simple musically--absolutely a 4 chord first position band--but those guys put together some beautiful songs in that simplicity. Are they one of the best ever? no. But they could write some pretty songs. Did stojan really say the Beatles weren't that good of a band? The Beatles? I have no nostalgia for them as I was not alive in 1970 when Let It Be (their last LP) came out. Paul McCartney is an amazing guitarist. Not styled like Clapton, Hendrix, or Eddie VH but amazing in his own way. Harrison can play too. Their voices (esp. Paul's) are great individually and can evoke emotion on any scale together. As songwriters, there isn't a band in the same galaxy as the Lennon-McCartney team. They are Mozart-Beehtoven-Bach musically. People will never forget the music they wrote, and rightfully so. And meanwhile George Harrison just happened to be penning little ditties like "Something," "Here Comes the Sun," "Taxman," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." And you know EVERY one of those songs--and he's the worse of the 3 of them. Stop with the Beatles stuff. It gets you attention to be "the guy" who says they were no good but it's silly. Overrated: Grateful Dead. I don't get it at all and never have. Tom Petty too, though I love American Girl.
  3. Frank Reich was undefeated in the playoffs.
  4. It sounds like you equate Libertarian and Conservative. I do not. Nor, I believe, do many people. Lots of people--in fact likely "most" people--equate Conservative with Republican (ie, family values type conservatives). This is the problem with using the term "conservative." Rush Limbaugh would eagerly call himself a Conservative. I--closest to a Libertarian--would never call myself a Conservative. You won't find much agreement regarding the term and that's why I don't even bother using it anymore. Democrats and Republicans carry some meaning. They are very similar but their differences define them.
  5. But I ask: What is a Conservative? I honestly don't know. I see it as a term without meaning, hollowed out because of its long association with Republicans. Put to the fire, I would say a Conservative espouses fiscal restraint combined with acceptable government intervention to promote traditional family values. That being the case, it's value 2 regarding government intervention RE traditional family values that differentiates a conservative from a libertarian. BTW, this is me on a limb: I don't think anyone can agree on what "conservative" means anymore. Republican changed when Reagan made the big tent mistake. Accepting the Southern Democrat/Family Values crowd into the Republican Party was the beginning of the end for a party that supposedly valued small government.
  6. What does it mean? To me, it's been coopted by a socialist Republican Party that is not interested in conservative approaches to spending. It is also not interested in conservative approaches to controlling government control of people's lives. I'd say the term Conservative is hollow these days. If you have an accepted meaning, by all means, do share.
  7. What does that mean? The term "Conservative" has lost any accepted meaning.
  8. Exactly. The 3-4 NT is supposed to stand still and hopefully take up two blockers. If he's done that, he's done his job. Any push is a bonus, but not required.
  9. Yes, fat people will be the downfall of American civilization. Rome fed live people to animals...in front of 100,000 cheering people. Daily. A silly eating contest doesn't bother me.
  10. I second the Weeds critique. I gave up a few seasons ago. It can't decide whether to be a comedy or a drama. It can do either one but when it tries to do both (always), it fails. Mary Louise Parker is pretty hot but her blank doe-eyed/always harrowed look gets old.
  11. 4.84 lbs in 12 minutes is more wings than anyone I know could eat.
  12. I am talking about the service they offered for the last 3 years for $100. I don't know how the new service will be. But you are possibly misunderstanding the issue. It's a bandwidth thing. If you (the end user) opt for the highest res download, you increase the chance of a bandwidth problem and jittery viewing. I opt for the highest res download and pay the price with occasional choppiness. This is not a problem with DirecTV (in all likelihood). It's a problem in my own connectivity. Sure I've got the highest noncommercial plan Comcast offers but it occasionally drops down and when it does, the stream will pause.
  13. I have used it for 3 years. Year 1 was terrible. Lots of cutting out and choppiness. Vid quality was lousy--like a bad youtube video. The last 2 years, they used Microsoft Silverlight as the player and the video quality was very good. Choppiness was less but still there. It's a stream--and a big one--so it will occasionally drop. I would say on average (not the first week as they gauge usage), you will miss 2-3 plays completely and a few snips of plays as the feed gets choppy and there is no vid in the buffer. I will post my updated review here once the season starts. I am not sure if they are using a new player but hope they stick with Silverlight. That works well.
  14. Right. Moments like when Mr. Weo says "Game Over" against New England on MNF last year need to stay documented: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/95773-official-gameday-thread/page__view__findpost__p__1552120 Or his retort in defense of that post "Have some faith, Heidi. Sheesh, you guys are intense pu**ies." http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/95773-official-gameday-thread/page__view__findpost__p__1552194 These are moments that get lost in the ethereal nature of the Chat Rooms.
  15. A vote for the thread. I'm checking in at the third quarter and would like to see people's comments on what transpired earlier. I can't do that by going to the chat room.
  16. I don't think that video was as insulting as say, what John Stewart probably showed from the rally. I bet it's a fair portrayal of the people at the rally. Those people were moderately politically informed and more interested in issues than the majority of the country. Do many of them get tripped up and confused? Sure...but I bet the man on the street would do no better discussing the political issues.
  17. My wife knew who it was from her teenage soap watching days. Some actor from Days of Our Lives. "Victor," a bad guy. Probably has had to act out having amnesia at least 5 times.
  18. It even had a famous soap opera star as the announcer at the clio's.
  19. Did Joe_the_six_pack win in a lawsuit over JoeSixPack AKA Joe in Macungie...or is this a Jekyll/Hyde thing?
  20. Peters is uber-gifted but lazy and dumb. Let's not kid ourselves: The Bills would be WAY better off with him than without him but they were not dumb enough to come close to offering him the $11 million he's not worth.
  21. Makes things harder to fix = not what a Jeep is about to me.
  22. They make a Jeep with power windows? WTF is the world coming to?
