  1. You are not going to win when Brees starts his offensive possessions upwards of 10 times at the 40 or better. It wasn't due to poor special teams either. This is why you need cavaets in analtyics in terms of "points allowed" and such. The offense like every other game put this defense in so many holes right from the get go.
  2. Penalties killed us once again today. What was that 3 or 4 15 yard penalties today? One negating an interception.
  3. He has botched time management in multiple games. A couple times failing to challagenge plays, but I'm curious behind the analtyics of his challenge win%. It's got to be one of, if not the worst in the NFL? On top of that he looked like Dick Jauron on the sideline.Lifeless. IMO his in game management has been as bad as Jauron too. IMO, this team and "it feels different this year" is running of the coat tails of Pettine and the defense.
  4. The saints offense has already started 5 possessions starting at the 40 or better. This game isn't on the defense. It's the only reason we are "in it" in the 3rd. Oh and Marrones team has a bigg issue with penalties.
  5. Manny Lawson out hurts us more than CJ Spiller being on the sideline. Yeah. That wasn't Hughes fault.
  6. Not in long down and distances which has been happening all game. The first fumble was on a 3rd and 5 in shotgun.
  7. He wasn't. Blown coverage somewhere.
  8. Lewis continues to get killed with the playaction shotgun..Hacket continues to call it Dierdoff might be calling the worst game I have heard this year...how does this guy have a job?
  9. Today he loves the playaction in shotgun. Instead he should try some draws out of shotgun.
  10. That was a PRIMETIME catch by Stevie Johnson!
  11. Doug Marrones team leads the NFL in penalties. Haunting us once again...well every game.
  12. Hackett horrible once again today. Uncalled for on 3rd and 5 to call playaction in shotgun when he isn't getting any time to throw. I hope people finally realize how this offense hurts our "would be elite" defense. They put them in so many bad situations.
  13. In the latter part to end of season 1 it has gotten better I'll admit. The acting and writing is just alright IMO. If I was waiting every week to watch a single episode I don't think I would have sticked with this show.
  14. Watched the first 3 seasons of Boardwalk Empire I really have enjoyed it so far. IMO on par or better than the Sopranos. While overwhelming (you are introduced to over 30 characters in the 1st season) I really like the complex plot and onslaught of characters and it is really rewarding watching each season for a 2nd time. Now I am catching up with Mad Men. Started season 1 yesterday (like 7 episodes in) and I felt letdown and underwhelmed so far. I am not "getting" the hype with this show although it seems to be getting a bit better after episode 5. To me thus far Breaking Bad and Boardwalk are far superior shows...I will stick with it and hope it gets better.
  15. This is why you have to to analyze and interpret statastics and not take them at face value. This model the OP showed is SEVERLY flawed from a statistics point of few. Variables are not on a level playing ground, they are not isolated. There is no validity to the way they came about this stat. It's junk.
  16. NO! Normalized they are 8th and 12th in terms of yardage and points. Overall, they are a top 10 defense. They rank 8th in average yards given up per drive with 28.04(last year 32.73(26th)). 12th in points per drve with 1.71(2.23(29th)). 10th in turnovers per drive with .156(.112(24th)), 4th in INTs per drive with .125(.067(21st)), 10th in plays per drive with 5.47(5.93(19th)), 9th in time of possession allowed per drive at 2:26(2:40(16th)) and 7th in drive success rate at .655(.727(31st))
  17. The Bills defense has over a games worth of possessions against more than the NFL average thanks to the Bills offense. If you normalize this, yes they are an elite defense in the league.
  18. Very good job OP. Your analysis of the data was spot on.
  19. The hurry up style offense skews numbers drastically. In this instance you can't take it at face value. The Bills offense leads the league in offensive possesions but is 2nd or 3rd last in time of possesion. More possesions = more yards, more points. Now take into account you lead the league in possesions and near last in how long you posses the ball, the Bills offense is severly gassing the defense. They are on the field more than any other defense in the league. Naturally you will give up more points, more yards. You take this into context it adds another layer how excellent our defense has played this year - not our offense. The offense has actually hurt the defense this year and on the opposite spectrum the defense has created a lot of opportunities in terms of field position and scoring points for the offense.
  20. We can only hope we see the Saints D of previous years but with Rob Ryan as D coordinator he has always schemed very well against us. I think we are in for a tough game on both sides of the ball.
  21. 23 Offense, 29 Defense. We have been getting a lot of taunting and other personal foul penalties on defense this year.
  22. In terms of false starts they are pretty good. In the top 1/3 of league (fewer is better). In terms of the total amount of holding penalties they are in the bottom 1/3 of the league. Suprisingly the Bills secondary has been flagged the least in terms of pass interference (tied with other teams). Bills don't get many delay of game penalties either. Best in league. Bills have also been the biggest beneficiary of fask mask penalties (interesting)... The Bills are the worst offender in the league at "taunting" and neautral zone infraction,
