  1. Keep in context the vast majority here pegged Geno Smith as a bust before he even played his first NFL game. Geno Smith is playing very well. He throws a MUCH more accurate ball down field. Keep in mind Smith has very little weapons on offense, EJ has several. EJ has shown he can't stay healthy and thats a BIG PROBLEM going forward.
  2. So Geno has showed he can throw an accurate long ball. Doesn't miss wide open receivers and tight ends like EJ and has shown he is durable unlike EJ. Head to head Geno outplayed EJ. 5 games...short sample but Geno is playing better right now. To think otherwise is being delusional.
  3. Smith definitely throws a more accurate ball down field. Smith also showing he is MUCH more durable. The Bills FO shold not be given the benefit of the doubt here...but still early how it plays out... Oh yea, head to head Geno Smith outplayed EJ too.
  4. Hurry up is based on creating mismatches in the passing game Hacketts hurry-up serves the purpose of wearing down his own defense.
  5. Exactly. There is no point to go up there and rush the plays with the scheme that they are going to be forced to run with Lewis. It only serves to hurt the best aspect of our team and the only reason this team has been competitive this year - the defense.
  6. You realize Thad Lewis has no experience and very little practice running a no-huddle. As Hackett has shown through his scheme through 5 games with the #1 quarterback is that his play calling isconservative. Just because he runs it up-tempo doesn't make it less-conservative, Conservative play calling is conservative no matter how fast you run it.
  7. You do realize Brady runs a no-huddle offense. One of the best the NFL has ever seen. Our scheme nor the personnel fit the no-huddle. Brady is a master at the no-huddle. It had no-affect on the Bengals-D. The Bengals-D is good and experienced. I think the only chance we have at win is if the Bills D can some score points to help the offense.
  8. For all the obvious reason of going from the practice squad to the starting Qb in a week (scheme, playbook, all the communication he needs to learn). There is zero upside to having Thad Lewis run a no-huddle offense. Also Hacketts scheme doesn't fit the bill for a no huddle offense. Hackett through 5 games has shown his offense is run based. Its one of the most run heavy schemes in the league. Take your time, try to control the clock. The worst thing we can do against Cincy is a hurry up 3 and out. We can't gas the defense. If we see Marrone and Hackett running no huddle with Thad Lewis they should fired on the spot. So far I haven't been impressed with either of them.
  9. Offensive line. Worst in NFL.
  10. New Englands Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins have some of the worst hands I have seen in WR's in a while. Most be very frustrating for Brady. They need Gonk back. Welker > Amendola too.
  11. The Brandon/Marrone era is a joke so far. No different.
  12. I actually made a snack (taco dip) for the first time this Sunday. Usually don't have an appetite because of what you described above when the Bills play.
  13. Absolutely. There is only one game on thursday, the majority of the NFL plays on sunday. So I got to enjoy the Bills game without missing any of the action on sunday. That is what I call perfect.
  14. I can finally just sit back, soak in, flip through and appreciate a sunday's worth of football without all the distractions with the Bills. Will certainly keep an eye on the bungles/cheatriots game. While a lot of people probably don't like it as much with the Bills not playing on Sunday, I like the break. While I am a Bills fan, I am a football fan first. I will enjoy this Sunday thoroughly.
  15. I am really curious about what the exact % it is on first down along with yards/attempt. It's a very predictable offense.
  16. Do any NFL stat websites have this? I couldn't find any in my quick search. If not, football analytics is pretty basic. What I saw so far on these NFL stat websites is akin to looking at batting avg, RBI's and HR's in baseball.
  17. I can't speak to what Marrone does behind the scenes but where has he exceeding expectations during games? His in-game time management and coaches challanges thus far have been awful. Dick Jauron type awful While the idea of Marrone and analytics has been overblown I guess one posititive is that he has shown some signs of using it in 4th down situations. But it hasn't been consistent.
  18. What Pettine has done with this injury riddled defense is quite amazing.
  19. I see that Hackett's play calling selection after 5 games is 49%run and 51% pass. I'm looking for a more advanced stat that shows the rush/pass % split on 1st down. Do any of you stat guys know the answer to this?
  20. Did you guys hear Mayock last night in the broadcast when the panned on Pettine? He praised him as being one of the best cooridnators in the game and then referenced about getting a chance at becoming a HC. We will lose him sooner rather than later IMO. Pettine is the only thing keeping the Brandon/Marrone era afloat right now.
  21. It's more of a take on the first 5 games of the season.
  22. Pettine is an amazing coach. His scheme is great and the only reason this team has been competitive is because of the defense. The defense is getting gassed by the up-tempo offense. It's unstainable with the lack of depth due to all the injuries. Marrone and Hackett are just like any other coaches we have had in the past.
  23. Hackettball is an up-tempo, hurry-up, 3 and out variant of the Marty Schottenheimer run, run , pass offensive scheme derived by Nathaniel Hackett. Hackettball consits of executing a predictable running play inside the tackles on 1st and 2nd down (sometimes the exact same play) to setup a passing play on 3rd down. Punting on 4th down, gassing the defense as quickly as possible.
  24. Witnissing our headcoach not knowing the rules was pretty embarassing. Hacketts playcalling sucks once again. EJ looking more like that 5th rounder that Dallas had him pegged as.
