  1. Some of the medias coverage of OTAs/Mini Camps has turned into paralysis by analysis. Even the Bills own Chris Brown is guilty of it with "What Did We Learn" segments. There was a reporter on NFL Network who was talking about Hackenberg and the Jets and the NY medias overreaction to his throwing thus far. I thought what was said was spot on, OTA's and Mini Camps are for teaching and learning, mistakes are going to be made.
  2. It's a metric that Pro Football Reference made up, it stands for Approximate Value. Here's some information on it: "AV is not meant to be a be-all end-all metric. Football stat lines just do not come close to capturing all the contributions of a player the way they do in baseball and basketball. If one player is a 16 and another is a 14, we can't be very confident that the 16AV player actually had a better season than the 14AV player. But I am pretty confident that the collection of all players with 16AV played better, as an entire group, than the collection of all players with 14AV." "Essentially, AV is a substitute for --- and a significant improvement upon, in my opinion --- metrics like 'number of seasons as a starter' or 'number of times making the pro bowl' or the like. You should think of it as being essentially like those two metrics, but with interpolation in between. That is, 'number of seasons as a starter' is a reasonable starting point if you're trying to measure, say, how good a particular draft class is, or what kind of player you can expect to get with the #13 pick in the draft. But obviously some starters are better than others. Starters on good teams are, as a group, better than starters on bad teams. Starting WRs who had lots of receiving yards are, as a group, better than starting WRs who did not have many receiving yards. Starters who made the pro bowl are, as a group, better than starters who didn't, and so on. And non-starters aren't worthless, so they get some points too." http://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/index37a8.html
  3. Mike Wallace signed a 5 year $60m deal to go play with Ryan Tannehill in Tannehills 2nd year, he wasn't proven then. Wallace was a rumored interest of the Patriots at the time.
  4. I was gonna say he did have Smith, but in Smith's first 2 seasons in Baltimore both him and Boldin were under 1,000 yards receiving.
  5. He had Boldin, who was a little long in the tooth but still went on to put up better receiving stats in SF with Kaep. Boldins numbers in Baltimore weren't great and he was still a very very good receiver at that point. He didn't have a 1,000 yard season in Baltimore. He went to SF and in his first year put up over 1,100 yards. He had more TDs in SF too. For Boldin, he won a Super Bowl in Baltimore, but statistically it was down years for him. And that was with Baltimore not really having any other receiving threats.
  6. Are you saying we, as in the Bills? Idk, how many times has it happened, that the Bills have had in a veteran WR for a prolonged visit and didn't end up signing him?
  7. I'd be ok with that, or if the Ravens sign Decker too, I imagine them releasing Mike Wallace. He'd fill the roll Maclin was just going to have although I'm not sure he's a McD type player.
  8. No way. He's got a $7.5m salary and he's 30 years old. Just wait for the Jets to cut him.
  9. Really? According to Sal, Maclin gave the Bills a chance to counter this afternoon. I think the fact that he didn't sign in Buffalo is definitely about the money if he let the Bills counter.
  10. That's my thought, if Josina Anderson is saying they were never really in the running, which would have come from Shady, they weren't offering enough and probably were only offering a 1-year contract. Ultimately for the Bills, he wasn't in their future plans.
  11. I'm thinking the Bills just weren't ready to give him the money he wanted. Shady and David Culley got Maclin in the building but he just wouldn't be part of their long term plans.
  12. Wonder why he would sign a 2-year deal
  13. You'd think, somebody would know something at this point. There hasn't been anything solid either way.
  14. I'm just here to increase my post count
  15. Yea.... and doesn't even really talk about football. Which is weird.
  16. Some guy in response to the Eagles insider is saying the announcement is going to come at 4pm EST

  18. These look like the type of guys Paatt would hang out. Khaki pants 4 life.
  19. He can say whatever he wants... doesn't make it true. Could have been from when he flew into Baltimore from Buffalo, who knows.
