  1. I am upset with his performance lately. The entire scenario has been really depressing. However, Orton's ceiling ... if he can put together 2 or 3 stretches of really good football over the next 2 years...is better than anything else we are likely to get. So I haven't given up on possibly winning with him either, but it isn't like I'm excited. As for EJ, I have definitely given up on him. Although I wouldn't disagree with putting him once the math says we're out...for some reason. Just to confirm the bust more or less so we don't deal with any fragments of doubt.
  2. I would also like to know the answer to this. Just for fun here are some lists of teams that drafted various positions top 10 over the same period of time I did the WRs above: QB: jax, ind, was, mia, car, ten, jax, stl, det, nyj, atl, oak OT: was, sea, stl, cin, jax, mia, cle, ari DE: hou, mia, det, cle, sf, kc, stl, nyj, jax, tb, atl DB: cle, nyj, dal, tb, buf, ari, kc, cle, was Just tons of superbowl rings for these teams. Tons. BTW having looked at the players on the filter as I ran those searches ... WR is looking like one of the single best positions to take top 10. Way better than QB anyway. Better than almost every position IMO.
  3. That is a ridiculous question to ask. This exact same argument could be made to say that drafting in the top generally is terrible thing to do. You know why? Because the teams who have consistent success never do. Those are great football players. Period.
  4. Since '07 Sammy Watkins Mike Evans Tavon Austin Justin Blackmon AJ Green Julio Jones Darrius Heyward-Bey Michael Crabtree Calvin Johnson Ted Ginn I would say the majority of those guys are big time. I think it can be argued that, at this point, those players I underlined are the signature players for their team. That's half.
  5. I think if we didn't grab Sammy....the Bucs end up with him one way or another and we get Mike Evans. Given the way Evans has looked...Evans + #10ish is better than Sammy (and that isn't a knock on Sammy btw). I still stand by the Sammy trade though. We all knew what we gave up...there was always going to be one or more "what-if-instead-of-Sammy scenarios" that would be good looking back. The point is, we secured Sammy. You can't complain. We'll have him for a while. It was a good thing.
  6. I think it is fair to say the Bills are as marketable as they've been in quite some time. This roster could turn into a good team in the mind of a guy with a big enough ego to be a big shot head coach.
  7. So what we have trainers giving out prescription drugs? Or we have doctors giving out the drugs while out of their geographic area despite being so for all of 24 hours and one their way back w/ the patient? Seems like a non-issue.
  8. At the moment the Jets look better. NFL is crazy like that. Don't confuse crazy w/ false though. We're real bad all of the sudden.
  9. I'm pretty ignorant compared to most Bills fans here b/c I don't follow the hockey at all, and I didn't seek out every interview he did when he first became owner (although I'm positive he wouldn't have said anything in them like this anyway). So what is his deal? From what I've seen...simply based on what I perceive to be his personality...I doubt he will. Am I wrong?
  10. I think we could easily slip in a death spiral and lose out. More likely we win 1 of our remaining games than 2 to me. We still don't have a offense than is even capable. When will we get more offense?
  11. Not yet. One more loss, then they should do it unless they have decided he is a failure already.
  12. Incognito is awesome we are idiots for not signing him first. No way he acts like the idiot he used to after all this, and he really is a fantastic lineman.
  13. McKelvin is what passes for a leader on this team.
  14. If we lose this Thursday the season is over and it is (sadly) time to throw EJ in there for every game left so he can properly bust out of the league.
  15. McKelvin is not dependable. The Pats game and now Chiefs game are clear cut "we lost b/c of him fumbling" games...that's 2 huge games he's lost himself (obviously other things went wrong...but those fumbles killed us). In addition to that...there are a slew of other fumbles/dropped ints/crazy plays in the secondary. There is no resting of the case for McKelvin. It was more than bad luck...it was McKelvin doing it again. We need to replace him, he's not the kind of player this team needs.
  16. Look, even with Freddy hurt, there has to be someone better to put back there in crucial situations. McKelvin is good and should be allowed to return for us...but when the heat is on I think he goes out there with a mindset to push and make something happen...then he fumbles. He doesn't deal with the pressure well he shouldn't be back there in a close game with 10 minutes left.
  17. Hey, it isn't the greatest show on grass but it is more explosive than it has been in .... well lets just say "years." Considering the vast majority of Bills fans were thinking, prior to McKelvin fumbling, "oh God I hope McKelvin doesn't fumble," I say it is reasonable to call McKelvin's decision to go nuts and hang the ball loosely a poor one.
  18. I'm with Saint Doug because we have looked good. But all the criticism about being conservative on 4th and knowing probability is true. He needs to change his tune on that, and coaches do that all the time. All in all it is hard for me to say we don't have a good thing going on offense and defense. Offense can still be a liability but it is more explosive than it has been in a long time so we always have a chance.
  19. If we make the playoffs , I think you build a statue.
  20. I went ahead and looked it up. Here is a list of every QB drafted by the Bills since 1986 (the year I was born): EJ Manuel Levi Brown Trent Edwards J.P. Losman Todd Collins Matt Rodgers Brian McClure That is terrible. I would say Collins is the best? I'm not the oldest, but I'm not young and that is really bad list. (btw this link is good for filtering historical draft results http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/draft-finder.cgi).
  21. Honestly, how can any Bills fan who has been paying attention be upset that it is unlikely we will draft a QB soon? Any QB we've had worth anything in over a decade was not drafted by us.
  22. Kyle Orton is obviously the firm Bills QB until something better comes along. He's not "franchise" b/c it would take about 2 bad games for people to be talking replacement. When we talk about "franchise" it isn't those QBs who may be able to do it...it is those QBs who are not even questioned. There really aren't that many franchise QBs in the league that don't have rings.
  23. Give Watkins a 10 year deal now
  24. We talkin' bout practice. There are rules about how long you can practice.
