That Trotter would report the Pegula quote when it was reported to him second hand tells me that he is taking swipes at anyone and everything. Even if Pegula and Jones did speak as alleged, I'm not sure what this has to do with the non-renewal of Trotter's contract. Secondly, does Trotter know who he was working for? Does he think the NFL is going to support an exposé of racism among NFL owners? If he believes he has a story of this nature, he either needs to go independent or work for a media outlet that will back him. He needs to realize that such backing will not come from any media outlet that is a partner of the NFL.

That was a stinker of the worst preseason quality. The Bengals, Seahawks and Giants also stunk so I'm not hitting the panic button or reading this as representative of what this season will bear. I remember the season when Brett Favre was a Jet. He was still Brett Favre and the Jets were still the Jets. As I listen to their Rex Ryan style bloviating, I am reminded that no one has ever talked their way into a Superbowl. Yet, the Jets still try. They brought in Rodgers to distract people from the fact that they, as an organization, are incapable of developing a young QB. Joe Namath and Ken O'Brien were outliers in a sorry history of schmucks. I don't deny that Saleh has built a good defense but you can tell that he has effectively ceded head coach authority to Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, like Russell Wilson, thinks he should have GM like powers and brought in his old buddies from GB in Lazard and Cobb. The NFL is not the NBA but the Jets are now Aaron Rodger's country club. Rodgers might be enough to nudge them into the postseason but country clubs don't work as a football business model. I too expect a low scoring game but more because the first three weeks of the NFL are effectively preseason quality football. We have the advantage of organizational and roster continuity. The Jets don't. Bills win 24 - 17.

Our window will never be more open than it is now. We know that on a given day we can beat the best teams. While the Eagles and Bengals still scare me, our greatest adversary is complacency. I hope we are angry enough at our near misses to come together and grasp our destiny. McDermott no longer has Daboll or Frazier as buffers. It is up to him to set a tone of achievement and accountability for us to take the next step to the promised land. I think he is up to the task but it will require digging deep on everyone's part.

McDermott no longer has Frazier and Daboll to shield him from accountability. There appeared to be some finger pointing last season in Frazier's direction. I don't know if that's why Leslie left but it felt like internal politics. I think Frazier is a very good coach, and a well liked, credible leader. If he was thrown under the bus by Clappy, players will remember that. Damar Hamlin and the Supermarket shooting should have been rallying points to inspire. Bruce Smith's speech on his love for the city and appeal for community unity was very moving. That's what leaders do. Instead we wilted. The Bills are still a very good and talented football team. The Bills window is not closing but I think McDermott's is. Anything less than a Superbowl appearance will feel like failure. I expect KC to have a SB hangover. The Bengals and their playoff experience are the nemesis we should focus on. There is no good reason short of an injury to Josh why we should not challenge for the AFC crown.

The conservatorship was the best available alternative to a sham "adoption" by an alumni for a prospect to join an NCAA program. The NCAA would not have accepted Oher's "adoption" at age 18 in any case. What I don't understand is why the conservatorship would extend past his time as a collegiate athlete. It doesn't sound like Oher's lawyer has done his homework on the income streams stemming from the "Blind Side". He is assuming the Tuohy's wealth came from the story and film as opposed to their franchise businesses. He wants a "full accounting" of what they earned from the "Blind Side" which is an admission that he has no clue. His lawyer sounds like a race based shakedown artist. And if Oher is dumb enough to follow his advice, he will be publicly shamed and outed as a fool. This is beginning to remind me of Mike Tyson going to Don King's camp after Cus D'Amato died.
