  1. Misused as in benched for the clearly inferior Rob Johnson. If I recall correctly I remember watching games the following season and watching Johnson play horrific football and they kept Flutie on the sidelines. Eventually they would put Flutie in late in the game and there would be a spark but no miracles. The coaching staff seemed hell bent to give Rob the job and he wasnt up to it. IMO- Flutie got jobbed by the coaching staff or perhaps whomever else was pulling the strings. The fact that RJ was essentially out of the league after his stint in Bufallo speaks volumes. Flutie was no good in SD but the guy was old by then. What can I say, I loved the guy and will never get the hatred by some Bills fans.
  2. Me too, he brought a since unmatched level of excitement to the Bills. Remember the naked bootleg that won the game....awesome. Remember who started at QB the season before? There is even a case that he saved the Bills in Buffalo. Sure he was at the end of his career and was misused by the coaching staff but it was a lot of fun. I will watch, that's for sure. If only to see Rob Johnson's banana just one more time.
  3. Vermeil...but your point is well taken its a rare occurrence.
  4. I would have no problem with Polian as football Czar.
  5. Tough call, I think if the Bills go 500 then Marrone stays. If the Bills are playing to half filled stadiums in December then it's over for the current regime. Pegula brings stability and a check book to the equation. I could see a high profile hire, not sure whom it might be though. Cowher perhaps or someone of that ilk.
  6. Very weak calls. The Bills are getting ripped off here. The NFL has a problem, the games are becoming unwatchable, flags on every play.
  7. Jerry Rice was 6'2 and ran in the 4'6s. He was an insane competitor and ran the best routes in the history of football. Steve Largent was pretty good too and he was no physical specimen. Willingness to compete, his dedication to his craft and yes....being blessed with a good QB are the attributes that will determine Watkins place in NFL history, not his height or vertical.
  8. Good point, Spiller is one injury riddled season removed from being an explosive offensive weapon. They did record the games from back then, I would assume.
  9. Not sure if it has been mentioned but the time value of next years first is thought to be a round lower. Does that change the argument? If it was Watkins for 2014 number 1 and 2014 second round pick?
  10. I agree, I guess that puts me in the get him in space crowd. Watching Harvin tonight it seems as though it may not be as complicated as some might think. Is Harvin a special talent? Yes and I think CJ can be as well. Better blocking and better use of his talents is required.
  11. If there is a team that has a habit of disappointing fans as much as the Bills it is the Lions. Bills rally around the under dog label and win on a 54 yard field goal 27 24. Orton has Bill Os cereal in Tops. They are a rip off of honey nut Cheerios but not that bad.
  12. If the Bills continue to lose then no first round pick is a shoe in for biggest complaint going forward. Just imagine the mood of Bills nation as the losses pile up and the pick gets better and better. All the while the stud college QBs start winning big games and the hype machine kicks in. It will be ugly. For the record, if I were the GM I wouldn't have done it but....I wasn't against the trade at the time as I thought/think Watkins is a special player and thought the Bills would be around .500 so no big deal. If you read me whining about it later then I am full of it.
  13. Every professional athlete will perform their best when they are confident and in the zone. They say that the game slows down and they are able to execute and perform at a high level. Clearly EJ wasn't in that mental place and may never be. One thing I know for sure is that until he has confidence in his abilities and frees his mind he will never reach his full potential. Is that the yips? Not sure, I think of Mackie Sasser or Steve Sax when I hear that term. Loads of golfers as well and guys who can't make free throws in the NBA. I am pulling for EJ to take this benching as a opportunity to gain perspective and to be able to rebound when his number is called again.
  14. Seattle won a playoff game that year against a vaunted Saints team. You never know.
  15. Is there any coaching going on at OBD? I know EJ was putrid but the coaches have to be accountable for the lack of development. If I am Pegula I have to wonder about handing this coaching staff a shiny new QB next draft.
  16. I agree there are positives but the QB play and the O didn't look like a playoff team should look. No sin in losing to the Chargers but....a better effort would have raised my hopes.
  17. I keep hoping he might live up to the hype. My theory is that the coaches like him, especially in his rookie season so when the TV people spoke to coaches in their pre game visits Gilmore was always touted. From there a reality was created

  19. Run the 'Triple Lindy'
  20. I hate Domes. Ford Field is a nice stadium and well appointed but going to a game there is like watching football in a mall. I get the economics of a dome, I just can't stand them.
  21. Mocks have him declaring and going in the first round so as of today the Bills won't be able to draft him. I agree that the Bills are pretty close, as others have mentioned, it's really up to EJ to start making the leap.
  22. That Funchess kid from Michigan impressed me last year. Likely, not an in line TE but he is an athlete.
  23. I was listening to NFL radio on Sirius this afternoon and the Cardinals GM was raving about the work ethic and buy in of Tyrann Mathieu. It sounded like he was describing Peyton Manning. Truth is, sometimes these troubled players work out, why not take a shot. I wish Lyeria the best and hope that Henderson takes note of how ones image can be rehabilitated.
  24. Sign him. There doesn't appear to be any violence in his history so the downside would be that he is bounced because of substance abuse or not getting with the program. Guys are bounced all the time, see Josh Gordon. Is anyone blaming the Browns for giving him a chance?
  25. If they believe in CJ, they should move on an extension now. If he comes in and has a career year it is going to cost em. Personally, I think CJ is going to have a great year, 2012 numbers or better so......
