  2. We were first in the NFL this year with average drive start (correct me if I'm wrong). Field position must be very high on the priority list going both ways. I'd have him as high as our second 2nd Round pick, but if we only have one pick in that round, we need to think beyond this coming year. Will we need a shutdown corner? A 3rd good cornerback? Heir to Vincent? Are we comfortable with our 4th LB coming into a game in an injury situation? Is re-signing Jonas our best option for upgrading the line?
  3. Hey, good point. Choosing a team that's rebuilding and in the NFC...Oh, wait--there are 14 of them.
  4. Mruczkowski , Nodnarb's #4 pick sounds good... "First Team All-MAC in 2003 and 2004 ... holds school record for consecutive starts .... nominated for Lombardi Award (best lineman in college football) and Rimington Trophy which is given to the nation's top center ... helped lead the Falcons in scoring offense (43.6), pass offense (335.6), total offense (501.6), turnover margin (1.36) and sacks against (1.00) per game...also helped the team to a 4.7 yards per rush, which ranks second in the MAC." Turns out we'd have to be careful in drafting him. There's another Mruczkowski that plays for Bowling Green. Small world.
  5. Nodnarb-- Read up on Chris Henry, and like what I see for a #2 pick. "No wideout in college is a better home-run threat. Averaged 25 yards per on 41 catches and was still learning. Ranked 36th on ESPN's Top 100." Good enough for me. I added him to the TSW Draft Board here: TSW Draft Board I'll read up on the others, too. Astro
  6. Of course I'm watching Arena. It's my methadone for Bills football!!! How long is an Arena football field? I was trying to figure out how far he's kicking. Sailed that ball OVEr the nets!
  7. Saw the North practice today. TD was looking thoughtful on the sidelines, looking at his roster often. Here are some impressions: QB's--Orlovsky looked the best, although some fumbled smaps from C David Baas. Orton was probably 2nd best, with better presence in the huddle, good checkdowns, and a good year behind him (31 TD, 5 INT). WR's Clayton caught everything near him. He's short (5'10"), and was shown up by a couple of WR's: Courtenay Roby (Reggie Roby's son), who made a fantastic catch in traffic; and WR's Stubblefield and Vincent Jackson, who looks huge. One I hadn't heard of, Craig Bragg, made some good catches. He's from UCLA. TE---Kiper said that Alex Smith hasn't distinguished himself this week. Stock may fall. Tuiasosopo missed lining up for a play and was yelled at. RB---JJ Arrington from Cal had fast outside speed, like MacGahee. Has HUGE thighs, can pound it inside, too. Sproles caught lots out of the backfield, but was more slight in build than Arrington. Sproles supposedly had a 4.3 clocking recently, though. DB---Jamaal Brimmer (6'1", 213) had the hit of the day on Driessen, who impressed me by hanging on. Other names---Kiper liked Iowa's Considine in a LB or S role. In on lots of plays.
  8. I'm all for that. How about We get Mason, trade Reed for a 4th, and pick up WR Chauncey Stovall, from Fla. State ( 6' 2" 210 )? Better blocking downfield by both Mason and Stovall.
  9. ...C.J. Brooks of Maryland. This was a little bit of a surprise, but TD is always full of surprises. The Bills will also be keeping Jonas Jennings and acquiring Tra Thomas from the Eagles. Brooks is 6’5, 320, and runs the 40 in 5.4 seconds. He is expected to add a mean streak to the Bills' line. With their own Round-2 pick, the Bills picked LB Rian "Goo" Wallace from Temple. He's 6'4", 250, and "he resembles some of the team’s defensive ends, yet possesses the quickness to drop back in coverage and wreak havoc when he blitzes. When the Owls needed a defensive leader last fall to fill the void left by Dan Klecko’s graduation, Wallace stepped forward with 148 tackles and 19 ½ tackles for loss, good for 11th best in college football." DT Mike Patterson from USC was a steal in Round 3, says TD. He required 2-man coverage in the Senior Bowl. The Bills looked for a complement to Willis MacGahee in Round 4, and found a good one in RB Darren Sproles of Kansas. Kansas State's career rushing leader (3,661 yards on 571 carries) was the national leader in 2003 with 1,986 rushing yards, the tenth-highest ever in NCAA history. Better receiving and downfield blocking were acquired with the Bills' 5th Rounder, WR Chauncey Stovall, Fla. St. He's 6' 2" 210, and a superb blocker. Donahoe appealed to the local folk by picking up a Safety, Kick Returner, and backup RB from nearby market Syracuse in Round 6. Diamond Ferri, a former high school running back with a whopping 14.4 yards per carry average and 240 yards in the state championship game, found himself behind Walter Reyes, and switched to Strong Safety as a junior. He also played in punt protection, kickoff, kickoff coverage and PAT/FG defense special teams units.
  10. I think that'd be great getting a road grader through FA, especially since we have McNally coaching the line--we could even slot 2 new FA's in there with their experience. This would be a necessity if Jonas heads South. Drop Pucillo for sure, and draft some insurance in Round 5 (OT Calvin Armstrong, Wash. St., 6' 7" 322) and/or Round 5 (OT Rian Melander, Minnesota 6' 7" 295). The line would be set. Rian Wallace would make me feel better than Dominique Stevenson, Stamer, and Constantin Ritzmann if there was a long-term injury to Fletcher or Spikes. I feel worse about our depth at LB than I do about our depth at DB. Dunno about Posey; I'll call the coming year his 3rd year breakout.
  11. Boley at LB looked very good at the South's Senior Bowl practice today. He's light (225) but he's a heluva good blitzer. Astro
  12. Scroll down to Chris Kemoeatu in Round 2. I think I fixed it. Astro
  13. Saw the South practice today, too. Here's who I liked and didn't like: LIKED: WR Gibson--A full head taller--and better--than the other South wideouts. They talked about his good blocking. That's what Moulds and Evans need next downfield. Aiken is not as strong at blocking as he needs to be. DIDN'T LIKE: WR Craphonso Thorpe--Seemed to take an extra 1/2 step in his breaks. LIKED: OL Johnson from Old Miss--got low in his blocks, seemed to get very good leverage. DIDN'T LIKE: OL Willis and Marcus Spears--Dogging it. LIKED: DB Travis Daniels, LSU--Got an INT in the 11 on 11 drills. DB KayJay Harris DB McFadden----praised for his effort in practice, his aggression and tackling. But 1 INT in 2 years. Want another Winfield? LIKED: RB Cedric Houston---Draft in Round 4. Dropped a pass but has a 5.6 yards per carry average. LB Michael Boley---Excellent blitzer. Size will probably make him a Safety in pros. He's 6'2", 225 MOST IMPRESSIVE PLAYER: DL DeMarcus Ware---Super Quick. Required 2 on 1 blocking. Great use of hands on the 1 on 1's. Lateral speed. great work ethic, according to draftniks. Had 3 3-sack games this year.
  14. Your taxes might go up, but your company would make so much more profit that you'd have an increase in salary. Second, if you were a pack a day smoker, you'd have $60.80 more per month. Third, you wouldn't be spending $25-35/month on bronchial dilators. Not that any of these things have happened to me in the last 3 years.
  15. If it's legal to let smokers go, I'm all for it. I think smokers are letting THEMSELVES go, anyway.
  16. Colmer will probably be a UDFA. Terry, on the other hand, would be a great pick in RD#2 if we get 2 second round picks. Terry is rated by Bernie's Insiders as the 5th best OT in the draft, and would be a steal by the time we picked.
  17. I'm not sure we have a 5th this year, either. Didn't we give a 1st and a 5th for JP?
  18. Pittsburgh, 24-21. PGH's running game keeps Marsha off the field, and the D allows nothing deep, so Pats chew up valuable clock time while behind. Falcons, 22-17. Vick has his best game ever. Falcons break the conference playoff rushing record with Dunn/McCrary/Vick yards. Rossum breaks a big kick return. Peerless breaks a nail. McNabb throws 2 INTs.
  19. I think that would be a win-win situation. If we got a 2nd rounder for TH, would you take an OL guy plus LB Rian?
  20. Disagree with packaging two 2nds for a first. I would go for two 2nd rounders like Vince Carter at C/G and Antonio Perkins at CB, and hopefully Rian Wallace in RD#3.
  21. Our elementary school students are making posters and collecting money not because we can raise more money than the NBA, but because it's the thought that counts. We're trying to instill in young people the sense of community, and [in our school's case] the responsibility that comes with privilege. We feel badly for those in need, and we're acting out of compassion, not guilt, and we don't skimp on our generosity because we don't know them, or think they wouldn't give to us. We aren't thinking of us and them or U.S. and not-U.S.; we are thinkng it's just us. It''s humanity pulling for each other. If this doesn't make sense or sounds too naive, your schools and significant adults failed you.
  22. Austin TX to see my first grandson for the first time.
  23. Thanks for the info, Rich. I dropped Mayes down to 3rd Round on the TSW Draft Board and added what you said on "Kemo", as he'll come to be known by Bills fans!!!! Check this pic of Kemo out: here
