  1. We don't have a new regime. We have the same regime with different titles.
  2. You see that half came in the first 2 rounds, right? Do you get why that is? It's because you have, say, a 75% chance of getting a decent pro in the 1st round and after that it falls dramatically. By round 7 you're looking at a 1 in 100 proposition or worse. So yeah the Bills have picks but let's be realistic. They need more years than they need 6th round picks
  3. Tom Modrak pulled the names off ofthe draft board from 2006-2009. He was overruled on a few choices, but those drafts are his. I don't want to absolve Marv for his failure but you need to understand these drafts were Tom Modrak's doing.
  4. His "roots" are in scouting? Interesting way to put it. He has never been anything other than a scout until being given this job for which he's not qualified. He's a washed up scout who couldn't get a job with any other team as anything but a part time adviser. How many 70 year olds you work with?
  5. Good point, but do you think anyone is TELLING Maybin to get in a four-point stance?
  6. He'll have to win his job in camp next year. Doubt that's gonna happen. I think there were only 3 people on Earth who thought he was deserving of a first round pick: Todd McShay, Tom Modrak, and Dick Jauron.
  7. Thanks for this thread. As I have posted extensively on this board, Tom Modrak is more responsible for the state of the franchise than anyone other than Ralph himself. I need him gone to have any confidence we're not going to bone the top 3 pick in 2011.
  8. Allen Wilson said that the Bills can't deal Evans because no one is willing to pay him $9 M per year. Just screws up the locker room when guy comes in from anther club and gets paid more than anyone esle.
  9. +1 Modrak needs to go. He wanted Cushing as top available player at that position, but he had Maybin as the top "pure pass-rusher" on his board.
  10. That's probably true in retrospect. But at the time it felt like Anthony Munoz in his prime wasn't going to get $25 M guaranteed from this regime. The way Russ Brandon and team lied about the contract on offer, fed perceptions that he wanted out of Buffalo (he just wanted to get PAID), and otherwise launched a whisper media campaign against the guy was horrible. The problem is that this front office has lost the benefit of the doubt. And -- let's face it -- even those of us uneasy about the move would have been a heck of lot more accepting if Plan B wasn't moving 370 lb Langston Walker to LT. What were the chances THAT was going to pan out?
  11. +1 Guys, 99% of top-100 selections that don't see the field their rookie years do not pan out. When Chris Ellis showed up, everyone called him a "project" who lacked NFL strength. Well, then why the HELL did we waste a 3rd round pick on him then? Get guys you think that can contribute now and use the 5-7 round selections on the projects. +1 Guys, 99% of top-100 selections that don't see the field their rookie years do not pan out. 12. I remember some film review that said the guy was lucky as hell to have 9 balls thrown directly to him last year. I didn't believe it, thinking it was impossible to be in the right place at the right time that consistently. Now, I'm definitely having second thoughts. Looks like just another wasted top-50 selection on a DB.
  13. Why did he leave for Florida? Because he was pushed out in Miami. That's right, the guy we selected to be our defensive coordinator could not hold on to the job of INSIDE linebacker's coach of the Dolphins.
  14. Glad you have such insight into the mind of NFL pro personnel departments. Teams use 1st rounders for depth at running back. Hell, the Bills just did. Any of the teams you mentioned might have felt a 3rd rounder for a guy of Lynch's talents would be worth it, even if he'd be expected to get 10 carries a game. We know some of them did, because it led to Florio and Glazer's reports.
  15. I agree. Getting BLOWN OUT AT HOME by Jacksonville? Sorry, but that didn't feel good at all.
  16. +1 If you don't work for the Bills and actually come to this board to dispute the reporting of well-respected league insiders, I feel really, really bad for you.
  17. No, dipstick. It was people from other NFL teams. Their pro personnel departments put grades on players so that the GM knows what they'd be willing to trade should that player become available. Basically, a bunch of random teams' pro personnel departments had 3rd round grades on lynch. But since genius Nix didn't broadcast to teams that Lynch was available, these teams were never given the chance to trade a 3rd rounder.
  18. So Glazer is more credible than Florio. Fair enough. But what kind of conspiracy theorist do you have to be to think that A> Florio makes stuff up to make the Bills look bad or B> The NFL contacts call Florio to make stuff up to make the Bills look bad? This organization hired a guy who was getting pushed out as INSIDE LBs coach to run their defense. Isn't that really all you need to know about this organization?
  19. Nix is a joke. No one every gave him a sniff as for a GM job when he was in his working career. Now he's 70 years old and his only competition for the job was John Guy -- the worst pro personnel director in the NFL. Now, we sign some guy Doug Whaley that no one has ever heard of. Everyone assumes he must be a great hire because he's from Pittsburgh, but the only moves we've seen from him thus far are Cornell Green (worse than any stiff John Guy ever brought in), Dwan Edwards (is he really better than McCargo, who is inactive every game because of Edwards' contract), and Andra Davis (looking washed up, aside from great pic today).
  20. Hope morons on this board are starting to put together why Buddy Nix was never considered GM material. Basically, the Seahawks kept calling and eventually the Bills gave in to their trade
  21. They're playing 5 defensive linemen (including kelsay)
