  1. I was just about to start a new topic on how the Green Bay Packers would never be in this Super Bowl if they hadn't signed Graham Harrell. And how great a job he did against New England at the end of this season BACKING UP the back up. How did we ever miss the boat on this guy???
  2. Either that or some "Final Destination" stuff would have occurred and he would have been electrocuted by a wayward live wire while visiting the Niagra Falls.
  3. OK...let's take this a different direction...He died in a car accident...had Buffalo drafted him, circumstances would have been different and chances are he would not have been driving where he was at that time and, in hindsight, maybe Jerome would still be with us. Hmmmm....
  4. The proper spelling is... "you say YOU'RE a bills fan???" And you say you're an English speaker. Fool. Please refrain from deciding who are Bills fans and who are not. It really makes you seem to be an ultra-douche.
  5. As bad as people think that decision was, RJ actually led them back on the potential GW FG drive, you know, had the special teams unit on that KO showed just the slightest amount of discipline.
  6. I wasn't at the game so I didn't get to see it firsthand (being 15 at the time and living in Erie it was kinda hard) but all I remember hearing the announcers say late in the 3rd quarter was how security had given up trying to deny fans re-entry into the stadium and just opened the gates to let them back in. So from that standpoint it sounded like to me quite a few had left. The only point I was trying to make was not that Bills fans back then were awful and unsupportive, just that after years of success fans get spoiled and forget how good they have it. So the way you explain it makes it sound worse...the Bills got crushed in Houston the week before and we were missing key players with injuries, so the game didn't sell out because fans thought we were going to lose? I know the stadium was bigger back then (with the Pontiac Silverdome I believe it was one of the top 2 in capacity) but nonetheless, it was an NFL playoff game and it didn't sell out, it just sounded awful to people who hated the Bills back then, I would be curious to know since then how many NFL playoff games have not sold out. Just for comparison...the Steelers had no idea they would have a home playoff game this Sunday vs the Jets until about 7:30 last night, and I'm pretty sure that the stadium has no tickets available to the public as I write this. You have to go to stub hub and pay a fortune.
  7. When teams and their fans are used to success, they get spoiled and expect it all the time. I remember a playoff game in the dear old city of Buffalo in 1993 that failed to SELL OUT!!! And with a few minutes gone in the 3rd quarter of that game fans started filing out, only to jump the fence to get back in when an epic turnaround started to take place. I love the Bills, and I remember my best friend (a Pats* fan) gave me crap about that back then, how we were riding 2 straight SB appearances and going for a 3rd and couldn't sell the game out. So before bashing, you've got to realize they're spoiled fans, just like we were.
  8. Maybe something along the lines of..."We've already beat those chumps in their house a few weeks back, how hard can it be to do it again?" That would certainly take the pressure off of Sanchez this week.
  9. Alright, I'm lost here...who in the hell is Darryl Talley?
  10. There was a 60 minutes report last year about football in Samoa. It was really an impoverished place and those kids grow up there thinking football is their way off the island. The equipment used by the high school teams are donated crap discarded by the mainland and wouldn't pass any sort of inspection here. Their economy depended on a cannery on the island that got shut down, and it really did look like a third world country. That being said, it really goes to show why they are so successful. Hard work and talent will take you a long way.
  11. It is possible for people to reach the same conclusion about a subject without having read the same yahoo article. It's like when I watch an NFL game and comment about what just happened and the commentators repeat what I've said. I don't start screaming that they're stealing my ideas.
  12. Redskins prove adding top name free agents doesn't help.
  13. I am of the thinking that Baltimore-Pittsburgh is one of the best rivalries in the NFL right now. No way the NFL puts those 2 teams in seperate divisions. Also, it's the AFC North now.
  14. I think most teams know what they NEED to do to beat the Patriots*, it's actually DOING IT is the tricky part.
  15. There's always those ones who don't know how to not say anything when they've got nothing nice to say. Way to keep your sense of humor!!
  16. Well, people are talking about them now. Not very positively, though.
  17. I live in Pittsburgh now and there was a nice article in the Tribune Review today about Cookie (who is from the 'Burgh and died here) and in the article it says that Ralph Wilson visited Cookie last week (don't know how accurate) and that they buried the hatchet. I'm gonna look for a link right now, see if the article is posted on the net. http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/steelers/s_717523.html At the bottom of the article it mentions the burying of the hatchet. Maybe RW didn't visit but it said they spoke.
  18. RIP Cookie, not old enough to have seen you play but know that you are a Bills legend. I've had a few people ask if that is Cookie in my avatar (it's Jim Braxton, the non murdering RB of the 70s) but maybe I'll have to change it over to honor him! We sure could use a few hard nosed players like Cookie on our team now. What did I miss?
  19. Totally agree. If Thurman Thomas was a first ballot hall of famer, WITHOUT QUESTION this stud is. And I was Thurman's biggest fan and will admit this truth with ease.
  20. I admitted I knew very little about him. It seems to me players make a name for themselves based on one or two good years and live off that reputation their entire careers. Seeing that I've seen very little of him, maybe I came to that conclusion about Nnamdi as well. If the stats on this wikipedia profile of him are accurate, then I have no problem changing my opinion of him. I see a lot of Revis so I am not hesitant to say he's one of the top CBs in the NFL. Christ, his game vs Reggie Wayne and Indy last night just reiterates it.
  21. I really appreciate you putting me and my football knowledge in place. That being said, I specifically said "unless they never throw to him" in my post. I don't think I've seen an Oakland Raider game in years (seeing they're never on TV here) so I try to base my opinions of players on what I've seen. I haven't seen very much of him. I was just a little shocked that he failed to record a single INT or fumble recovery ALL YEAR. Even Deion still got INTs when teams "never threw his way" http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=49 Nnamdi's stats seem to show not a whole lot of plays being made since his breakout year in 2006. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=4489 Teams must not throw his way, maybe, because the rest of the team is so weak that why attack their best guy when there are so many other options to exploit. Whatever, we'll never get him anyway so I'm not sweating him.
  22. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6004943 In this article it says he became a FA because he didn't reach performance incentives. It then says that he failed to record a sack, interception or force a fumble all season. Unless this guy is like Deion Sanders and teams throw in his direction never (which I doubt), then I would be hesitant to sign to a HUGE contract a big time playmaker who, ahem, quite frankly made no big time plays all year.
