A Solution to the Spiller Problem
tennesseeboy replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have a solution....DRAFT OFFENSIVE LINEMEN WHO WILL OPEN UP A FEW HOLES!!!! Maybe we might have thought of that when we had a number nine pick last year...maybe we should have thought of that when passed on OT Oher to draft Maybin.... -

trading away number one pick for midround and a second round or two might not be a bad idea for a rebuilding team with as many needs as we have if there isn't a franchise style (Luck) player available. I agree that the cream will probably rise to the top in the next month or in the bowl games, but we should not pooh-pooh the trade down option out of hand given our needs.

The difference is in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Far better to get a defensive and offensive line than to do anything else. If Luck or a true blue chip qb is there at number one I suppose we would have to go that route. If not, I say get quality players for a real offensive and defensive line. I wonder how Fitz would be if he had just a little more time or how spiller or jackson would be with really good run blocking.

Looking ahead to next year, now that the season is shot
tennesseeboy replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
getting rid of Perry Fewell was a huge mistake. Depending on how the rest of the season the goes the question won't be whether Edwards goes but whether or not Gailey goes with him. -
I understand the argument that we shouldn't include players of the 40's and 50's, but they were included. And if you are including them there is no way that Otto Graham and Sammy Baugh don't deserve to be in the top 10 over Montana nad Unitas. Graham won far more titles than Montana and Unitas put together and Baugh dam near invented the modern passing game.

Perry Fewell Assistant Coach of the Year
tennesseeboy replied to HarkinBanks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The day he left I said he was going to be a head coach somewhere. Maybe it will have taken a year. But he could have been head coach here. -
No outrage over Merrimans past arrest?

I love this character test some posters are putting on our acquisitions. We are 0 and freaking 7. -
What if Merriman doesn't report
tennesseeboy replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't imaging he would refuse to report. He really needs to show he has recovered from his injury and there isn't a better team in the NFL to insure a starting opportunity and plenty of face time. If he is successful there would probably be some pretty good offers. I'm not all that sure he couldn't be re-signed by the Bills despite folks on this board who assume that Buffalo is such a suck ass place that no one would come or stay here. A few years ago we actually went to four superbowls with pretty good players who seemed to like it here. -
Jay Glazer Comments about Merriman
tennesseeboy replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Geez....these writers, and a lot of posters on this board had better stop living in the past and in some godforsaken future. Merriman will help the bills today and for the rest of the season, and we have the money to have him show his stuff. We might sing him or we might not, but that is true of most people who are free agents. The way many talk on this board you would think we would never sign any player whether we drafted them, traded for them or got them off the wire. Good move getting Meriiman and I hope he helps our defense. -
We had three realistic chances to win so far this season. New England, the Ravens, and the Chiefs. We should beat Chicago.
-
If we claim him it would probably to some degree explain our failure to move on the earlier opportunity.
-
bizarre...We aren't very good at outside linebacker and we aren't very deep at outside linebacker. We should have taken him if we had the opportunity. A no brainer. Kind of like drafting a running back with the 9 pick when you don't have any offensive tackles and two good starting running backs.

Talk Radio Positive On Bills today
tennesseeboy replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually we should be undefeated right now. Look when the game is over and the scoreboard says the other team has more points than you....you're a loser. We had that happen seven times. -
Anyone with ESPN Insider - Schefter Q&A
tennesseeboy replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
let's see what cream rises to the top between now and draft day. Right now it might be hard to pass on Luck, but if there is a legit franchise type defensive lineman, it would be a difficult decision. -
Where did the running game go in OT?
tennesseeboy replied to VirginiaMike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yup...we probably should have run someone in "beast mode" to get the heavy duty yards. Wait a minute ...dont we have a "beast mode" guy? oh....seattle...sorry. -
Going to the Rally to Restore Fear/Sanity
tennesseeboy replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Sanity might best be achieved if slack-jawed inbred teabagging Glenn Beck fans, and a leftist pot-smoking dog loving tree hugging Stewart fans stayed home, got a job and got on with business. -
yeah yeah..but we're still 0-7

Buffalo fans should be happy today
tennesseeboy replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They look much better...MUCH BETTER...the last two weeks. They are actually kind of fun to watch. On the other hand we are still winless. Trading down to fill out the defense with a mid range first and at least two second round picks (Offensive tackle, linebackers and a defensive stud) would probably be the quickest way to becoming competitive. I'm still big on Ponder with our first second round choice, although if Fitz keeps improving that may be reconsidered. -
Well..the defense for once did not look hopeless, and we did move the ball. On the other hand, Fitz showed a lot of tghe early weaknesses that kept him on the bench...inexplicable passes to defensive backs. He still looks pretty darn good though. I'm disappointed but there is significant improvement in the last two weeks.

hmmmmmphh...how can Buffalo not be the BEST city to live in in the United States! In all seriousness it is nice to get some recognition. The points made are quite valid and well-deserved...now if the Bills would only make the playoffs, we'll probably be the best city in the world, if not the freakin' solar system.
