Charlie Robinson's winners and losers this week
tennesseeboy replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like this team since the break and a lot of the credit (most of the credit?) has to go to Chan Gailey. I felt he had the obligation to be at LEAST as good as last year's record, but his actions since the break have me more and more optimistic about his plans, about the team's confidence in him, and about the way this team plays even when there is no playoff chance in the picture. Gutsy bunch. -
Nick Fairley - DE/DT Auburn
tennesseeboy replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There seem to be some really premier defensive linemen out there and Fairly is at or near the top of the list. I imagine there will be some moving around in post season evaluations and camp. I'm thinking our number one will be greared toward one of these stud players. I guess there are about four or five very good offensive tackles and one should definitely be there for our second round pick. Third round? A linebacker or tight end (Maybe Stocker from Tennessee might be there in the third.) -
yeah yeah..war is terrible..they did bad stuff, we did bad stuff, the English did bad stuff, the Russians did bad stuff and the Germans did bad stuff. Get over it.

it is not breaking the code, its sharing information on a need to know basis. When PFC's of any sort have access to such cables, and are able to download quantities of information undetected as they apparently have done there is a major malfunction in the government that isn't all that hard to correct.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
tennesseeboy replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look at the bills defensive backs playing well in the nfl. Winfield, Clements, Greer, Leonhard. It is pretty pathetic to think of how we put such a priority on the db positions but fail to keep them. I kind of feel like buffalo is a feeder team for the league. -
you gotta wonder what kind of security we have. I think that's the big problem There are a hundred Assange's out there and maybe more, let alone the more dangerous folk who are employed by adversaries and terrorists. State, Defense and other agencies had better get their act together and worry less about closing the barn door AFTER the horses are out. It's like 9/11. No one was fired no one was accountable, and no one stepped up and took responsibility for the obvious failures in intelligence and security.

Boy I sure would like to be her lawyer
tennesseeboy replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Ok...the deal is she gets her movement, minus all of the pain and suffering and emotional stress of being paralyzed, lost income, medical bills and the time and aggravation of treatment, lawyers fees....I suspect that would only make the deal more attractive. Frankly I wouldn't take 66 million to be paralyzed. -
How are we EVER supposed to compete
tennesseeboy replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well...at best we would see them in the playoffs, and then we'd never get to the superbowl. Not that the playoffs are on our present horizon. -

tennesseeboy replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Let's say I approach her and can give her back movement...she would be no longer paralyzed but would have to give up the 66 million? Do you think she would hesitate? I sure wouldn't. -
You remind me of the story we tell about how college admissions counselors make love...they sit on the side of the bed and tell you how great its going to be. If and when Spiller proves to be not a bust I'll be happy. Rightnow he's showing me nothing special.
-
What a laugh...CJ is not a threat...no one is worried enough about him to be a decoy. What the hell is "long'term"...? In the long term he'll be playing for another team.
-
I'm not labeling him a bust. I'm just saying he hasn't proved anything yet. He is a nothing until he's a something.

Lack of use of TE as a blocker
tennesseeboy replied to ShipUPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With a crummy offensive line the obvious counter is a stud blocking fullback and/or blocking tight ends. It becomes conservative, but the defense has to react to what it sees. McIntyre is a good blocker and can get some yards. I have to see Bob in St. Louis point though that in theory the spread offense with a quick read and very smart and fast qb can address this in a different way. It seems to have had some success since the break and might again during the remainder of the season. It may very well be that Gailey's mindset is going in this direction. I still think the main thing to do is get a quality offensive line. In such a world the tight end can fit into the mix. By the way I was pushing for the Bills to sign Jason Whitten from Univ. Of Tenn. a few years ago in the second or third round, I think we could do worse than going after Luke Stocker a tight end from UT in round two, assuming he lasts that long. -
Lack of use of TE as a blocker
tennesseeboy replied to ShipUPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Few would remember this, but Lou Saban won the AFL championship with a terrifically banged up offensive line and countered this by including two blocking tight ends, Paul costa and Ernie Warlick. Warlick turned out to be quite a receiver as well, but the use of the TE as an important part of the blocking game especially when the rest of line is bad, due to injury or poor personnel is a pretty obvious solution. I'm surprised we haven't gone to it more often. -
Spiller's Future in Buffalo
tennesseeboy replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would have drafted an OFFENSIVE TACKLE. Bryan Bulaga was the best available at nine. He has played guard and tackle for 8 of 12 games for green bay and is a quality lineman who will start for years. -

i'm not going off the deep end...I'm just saying there is no way to date that CJ Spiller is showing promise as a number one pick. Maybe he will. Until he does he's not worth the pick. -
Roscoe Should he stay or go ?
tennesseeboy replied to I hate the Bills !'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
lets get this straight. Our defensive line sucks and we're not very happy with our linebacking. Our offensive line is a frigging joke. We are 2-10 or whatever without roscoe parrish and we'll solve our problem by letting a guy who was somewhat productive to replace him with a first freakin round draft choice? (AJ Green) It would be a perfect complement to the Spiller pick. NO NO NO...keep Roscoe...fix the lines. -

tennesseeboy replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could not agree with you more that NO ONE is going to be great with a bad offensive line. However Jackson is running better than Spiller with the same offensive line. I would expect our first round draft pick to outplay the guy who is holding the position. -
How are we EVER supposed to compete
tennesseeboy replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
or traded or gotten free agent quarterbacks? Like Vick or Brees? Let's assume we ONLY went for the Trenches and Defensive seven with picks one and two the last ten years...We would have Haloti Ngata, Karlos Dansby, Nick Mangold, Chris Kelsay (ok..we actually drafted him) Tommie Harris, Jusin Tuck, Michael Oher, Dallas Clark (TE, but I consider the TE to be a lineman.) and others. We would be FAR more competitive than we are now. Trenches...until you've got quality there, you've got nothing. -

tennesseeboy replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LUCK? LUCK? You are comparing a college qb with NO experience in the NFL to TOM BRADY? Are you nuts? Not to mention that Brady was not a first round draft choice. The key is to start in the trenches. If you get Luck and your time of possession is as patheti as ours has been it doesn't matter how good he is. -
my new first 4 round mock
tennesseeboy replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah..and Oher was a right tackle...sure....we hear this every yeat. I agree we need more d. We could have the best offense in the world but if we can't get their offense off the field we have a bunch of expensive benchsitters. I think we have to get a quality front 7 on D AND shore up the offensive line. Forget quarterbacks, cornerbacks and all of that other crap. -
Spiller's Future in Buffalo

It will be great when we have that guy..but what does that have to do with CJ Spiller? -
If our first round picks never pan out anyway
tennesseeboy replied to Russ 'Em's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
give up number 2,3, or 4? That's a crazy idea. We would have either the best defensive lineman or the best linebacker or the best offensive lineman available. A stud at any of those three positions would help us enormously. Sooner or later (mostly sooner in this era) you have to start playing playoff football. And we won't play playoff football until we fix the defensive line, the offensive line and the linebackers. -
All we have to do is go with the obvious choice. McKinney was the obvious choice over Williams. Ngata was the obvious choice over Whitner. Dalls Clark over mcgahee (we had travis henry) CJ Spiller was not the obvious choice and his play has shown it this year. Obvious Choice? Offensive and Defensive Line. Get the best player available. If a franchise caliber linebacker or tight end is available, go for him. Quarterback? another losing proposition that won't really help this team yet. There will be qb's in future drafts when we need them.
