  1. Bowers is the worst choice of any. All the times I have seen him play this year which was three and I paid special attention to him knowing he was talked about alot, he sucked. Always got blown of the ball, didn't seem aggresive or like he was enjoying himself. And he plays at a position we don't really need (DE) this year. Reading other posters one comes to mind about how we got a lot of young D-linemen last year like Troupe (2nd round) Carrington (3rd round) and we need LB's this year. If you don't think the Joker (miller) isn't going to be an impact player right away your crazy. Watch Mathews play from Green Bay he is a duplicate crazy pass rusher, faster then Mathews and motor never stops.
  2. What wide reciever do you know who made a huge impact in year one. Some have OK years towards the end, many don't break out until year 3. Randy Moss is the only exception I can truely think of. There are also many WR who were suppose to be great and where are they now, i.e. Roy Williams. This draft by the way is full of defensive talent.
  3. Phil Taylor wont be there in the third round.
  4. Bowers is over-rated IMO. Plus if we didn't that don't we already have the bumb Maybin for that role as a 4-3 DE. I would put him to work. I do like that idea though, but I think the front office knows what they want, plus our Hybrid D is coming together and Offensive coordinators wont know what to expect and half time adjustments will be hard to figure out if they don't know what defense we would use in the second half...
  5. I think if we don't take a defensive player and take Newton at 3 that puts us behind the curve. I agree with most on this post. There are a lot of QB's that are OK not great and NFL ready in year one that I would like to see us develop but not with the #3 pick. I was impressed with Kaepernick, he is the type of developmental guy I would like behind Fitz for a year or two maybe more. Big, Strong, athletic type QB, who can make all the throws but needs a couple years to get use to the speed of the NFL.
  6. The Big 12 is no push over conference. He played against some pretty top notch talent in his years and some NFL ready players too. I just think he is a FOOTBALL player, one of those kind of guys. Like the Freeny's, Z. Thomas's, Singletary type of players. So his size doesn't bother me, he is kinda small but if we use him like we brought Maybin in here to do (but can't) is strictly rush the passer in his first year and grow as a OLB behind someone like Shawne, I think he is the best LB on the board.
  7. Good thing Shawne's not calling the shots...
  8. Why would SF want to trade up with us? I dont see anyone that is top 5 worthy worth tading up for in this draft. I think the top 5 maybe the top 10 stay put.
  9. I can't believe you guys are comparing Von Miller to the unproven over-rated A Maybin. Coming out of college Maybin had one good year and Von Miller has been a stud for about 3 a real stud for 2, and he is coming out at the right time. I say we go for Von Miller depending on who we get in free agency. There are some good free agents out there including that guy from Miami ( i would spell his name out or look it up but i am to lazy right now and if i tried to spell it it would be wrong)and we can go Miller in round one and another ILB round two. I have noticed a lot of good LB in the top half of this draft so we should load up on em. I also think we should give up on Maybin and cut our loses. I am an Aggies fan and Miller is just straight up a FOOTBALL PLAYER. Just one of those kind of guys. Yes he over pursuit's some but a lot of times like in today's Senior game he get a hand on the guy and slows him down just enough for the rest of the D to get him. So your saying that clay mathews makes every tackle for green bay? You can't tell me that when the play is totaly past him or clear on the other side of the field that Clay runs full speed to the play to tackle the guy. I have been watching Miller for a couple of years now, this guys motor never stops. Alls I see Mathews doing during highlights is sack the QB. Does he make a lot of plays on running backs? You should watch that A&M vs OU game again when Miller stopped OU on two goal line stands. I am not saying that Clay isn't good, he is great. He is a FOOTBALL player just like Miller. Miller is a FOOTBALL player. They makes plays when the game is on the line;
  10. They also said Kyle Williams was to small for NT before the season. Everyone was saying he needs to put on weight to hold the point of attack. But Williams proved everyone wrong, not because of his weight, but because he is a football player. So IMO body weights for position and who should be what is a bunch of crap. If the guy is a football player he is a football player period. I personnally think Troupe is going to be a beast. He needed to get use to the NFL game and competeing against elite atheletes which I saw an improvement every game which he can grow on for next year. He will be alright. If he matures enough I would like to see him in the middle and Williams on the end. Another thing that really bothers me and what the fans of the NFL have become. They want pro-bowlers in year one out of college. Yes first rounders should eventually be pro-bowlers but not until year 3 or 4, sometimes you get the flash in the pan where a guy comes out and is a complete stud from the get go. It kinda reminds me of cavemen when they discovered fire, how they are all gathered around the flame, let the flame grow and don't smother it before it gets to develope. Don't expect to much from a first year player. We all thought myself included that spiller was the next coming of Johnson or Peterson, he still might be. It wasn't till year two when Johnson exploded, and Peterson was just a beast from the get go (I think his career is going to be short because of the way he came out and the Vikings put so much on his shoulders from day one. So my point is, give these guys time to grow, a champion isn't built overnight...
  11. I say we go after V. Young as a free agent market when he gets cut (if he hasn't already). If not we truely evaluate Mallet and if he is as good or better then Bledsoe was coming out of college we take him at three seeing how this draft if full of defensive talent. I would take Bledsoe in his early years any day. Coming out and his first 8 years in the league he was a very good QB with a couple of rookie type years included. He led his team to the Playoffs in his second year threw for over 3500 yards 6 of those 8 years although he did throw a lot of INT's also which meant he took chances and he didn't have Chan. Anyway if he isn't worth the 3rd round pick go DL and take a QB in the later rounds, I still like J. Johnson out of A&M that kid has a gun and can make all the throws with ease and can run with QB size. He will be there in round 4 when we have 2 picks or round 5 i think unless he impresses a lot of people at the combines which he might do. Keep an eye on him he needs to learn how to read NFL defenses and who better to teach him then Fitz.
  12. That is what I am saying. I like this alot. KW is a stud but he is not a meat eater. We need a Big guy like Soliai to just stand up two guys at a time, kinda like Ted use to do for us in the 3-4, and put KW on the end to use that motor of his to get after people. I would be happy if Soliai is the only FA we sign..
  13. If we draft a WR in round one, not saying Green isn't 1st round material, but we don't need him. We need DL and LB's i would be happy if that is all we drafted this year all DL and LB's that is it, maybe a TE in there somewhere.
  14. That is why in my opinion he is not a true number one yet and there is no way we should let Lee go. Lee made Stevie who he is and also helped Roscoe out too and Nelson for that matter, although Nelson did most of his damage when Lee was out. Stevie to me was too much of a showboat instead of a reciever first. Yes a lot of recievers in the league are show boats (Johnson, Owens, Horn) but they weren't when they first got in the league they proved something first. I just wish Stevie although at times entertaining, would just concentrate on the game plan and execution instead of thinking about his celabration. There is no way he should have dropped that many balls. I also think we should wait til the middle of next year to negotiate a new deal to see if he drops balls again. I think Nelson is just as good and more reliable.
  15. I hope not that would be stupid and all of this BS about having a plan would be crap. I think the coaches have a plan so Ralph does too and needs to keep with this group for at least 3 years. I don't think we make the playoffs next year but in 2013 we do.
  16. I don't really think we need an OG anyway. I really like the improvement our line was making until late in the season. I think they all need to get nasty and play with a chip on their shoulders which i think they will this year with being more comfortable in the offense. I like Urbik, Wood, Lavi, and Hang. What we really need is a T just one. I like our Bell, Lav, Hang, Wood, (to be named later) maybe even Urbik line. Why everyone keeps writing Hang off I have no idea he was playing real well and is still young. We would have a very good young Line in my opinion. Now alls we have to do is get them to stay healthy.
  17. If he is overall in charge of the defensive scheme then we would be going back to a 4-3 which is what he has coached his whole career. I still believe we will be running a 3-4 and I really wish we can go after another coach that can help us out in Mangini probably too late now but he would be awesome as DC but he too would want to be Asst. Head coach. I still love this move also. Good Job Nix.
  18. I totally agree with you, he reminds me of Russell and just dosen't seem like a Buffalo type of guy, wont fit in.
  19. I agree with all that are saying we need competition in camp, no matter who we bring in Fitz is the man next year and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do with a whole year under Chan and the offense. I bet he is a pro bowler next year with this team going 8-8. I still think we should bring in Alex Smith if we can get him, he didn't get the best coaching in SF and he is the type of QB that could be a good back up in Chan's system. The guy still has a great arm and is mobile, like I said look at his coaching the only year he showed any improvement was when Norv was is Offensive Coordinator. He would be worth looking at is all i am saying, and he is probably better than any QB in this class the QB's class is not next year but 2013 that kid out of Georgia is going to be a stud.
  20. I agree with you, if teams could do this all the talent from the next years class would be gone in the late rounds which would make the draft utterly boring..
  21. Newton is no good, those little runs for 3 or 4 yards up the middle he does in college on 3rd downs wont fly in the NFL and he reminds me too much like J. Russell a big piece of crap and when he gets paid will not show up. Fairly will be gone and I wasn't impressed at all with Bowers the three times i saw him play this year.
  22. If Sam Acho is there for the taken in the second round and we don't draft him over Ponder who will be there in the third then we are just not doing what Nix has been preeching that is "taking the best player available"
  23. I don't see how you can make this statement "doesn't look as good as Matthews did in college". Matthews played at USC full of defensive talent and played in the same scheme the whole time he was there. Von Miller played in a 4-3 his freshman thru junior year (leading the NCAA in sacks his junior year with 17) his senior year they switched to a 3-4 defense and he was limited with a sprained ankle the first 4 games and really strated playing during the Arknsas game week 5 and he still had 11 sacks this year in 8 complete games. Just to let you know in college Mathews only had 5 total sacks in 4 years... So how could you say Matthews looked better then Miller.
