Doug Flutie was the last quarterback to take us to the playoffs because he was the last good quarterback we've had, not because he was the last mobile quarterback we had. You acquire the best quarterback available and fix the offensive line. You don't acquire a quarterback just because he's mobile and then assume that the offensive line can now be disregarded.

The choice between Gaither, a free agent tackle, or making no acquisition, has nothing to do with patience. The UFA offensive tackle pool consists of scrubs and 35 year old wash-ups at the end of their career. Those types of players do nothing to assist a team rebuilding. On the other hand, Gaither is one of the best tackles in the NFL and is only 24 years old. As far as the waiting game and the media, I can't understand what you are trying to say.

I agree with you that the Stanley Cup is harder to obtain. The Stanley Cup playoffs are such a grueling task and the Sabres don't seem to have the type of players up to that task. Still, I'd rather see a Buffalo Super Bowl victory simply because of the devastation still felt after the four straight losses.

It was never reported that the Bills liked Clausen. In fact there was plenty of word from Schefter and others that the Bills didn't want Clausen (which the draft proved to be correct). Mocks still had the Bills drafting Clausen because the team needs a quarterback. It was, however, reported that the Bills liked Tebow. You really believe Nix when he said Chan Gailey was the one and only guy they wanted to hire as the head coach all along throughout that long and drawn out process of being turned down by candidate after candidate? Come on now.

Anything besides our 2011 first round pick would be great. It's a potential top 10 pick and I've got to believe we're going to want a piece of that quarterback draft class.

Byrd made the pro bowl on the merits of one skill: catching interceptions. As of now he's very far from being one of the best safeties in the game. Kyle Williams also made the pro bowl but he's a better fit at 4-3 DT and it's debatable whether he can make the transition to the 3-4 defense (especially if they plan on making him a NT). What akm0404 may have meant was that the Bills have no players that are one of the best in the NFL at their position besides our punter. There are no players on the Bills that are worthy of building an offense or defense around. Hopefully CJ Spiller is that guy, maybe not.

Good move. That must've been a small league, though, for Schaub to go in the 12th. You can pass on Brees/Rodgers/Manning/Brady in rounds one and two and get near the same production around round four with Schaub/Rivers/Romo. Before their eventful off-season, I was even planning on waiting a couple rounds longer and grab McNabb or Roethlisberger, but not anymore obviously.

I agree. I much prefer PPR leagues. In non-PPR leagues, only the top receivers are relevant (teams second WR aren't going to get you many points), TEs aren't doing much for you unless they happen to catch a TD, and it's just a mad scramble to get as many RBs as possible. Giving points for receptions also rewards consistency. Fantasy managers should be rewarded for measuring consistency rather than the unpredictable fluky big plays. Non-PPR: 1.) CJ 2.) Ray Rice 3.) MJD 4.) AP 5.) Gore PPR: 1.) CJ 2.) Ray Rice 3.) Andre Johnson 4.) MJD 5.) AP I drafted Lynch his first two seasons. He's a good goal line back and produced a lot of touchdowns those two seasons. Last year with Peters being replaced by practice squad scrubs, the Bills were rarely ever inside the ten yard line and Lynch wasn't on the field. I wouldn't touch any Bills player this season with a ten foot pole. Our QBs can't find Evans, the offensive line has not been improved, and there's a three way split at RB. Spiller will probably only get 12 or less carries a game. He will make some big plays, but will be a hit and miss play week to week.

Jacoby Ford is only 5'9". That alone won't prevent a guy from being a good receiver in the NFL, but Nix and Gailey have mentioned that they prefer wide receivers with size. Having a receiver fast enough to block up field with Spiller is a low draft priority.

They had him under contract for this season already. The Eagles gave him a one year extension, making it a two year deal at $6.125 million a year. $12.25 million is the total amount not the per year amount.

I think the Rams and Bucs will be worse but as of now we're not too far off. It does appear likely we'll be drafting a quarterback early in the next draft.

Thanks for posting that. I was about to post something similar. When a team has pro-bowlers like Tarik Glenn and Jeff Saturday entrenched as starters, there's no need to draft replacements in the first round. The Bills on the other hand, have gone this entire decade with very bad players at left tackle and center yet refused to use high draft picks on the offensive line (besides Mike Williams and until last season's draft).

Chan Gailey was asked if Demetrius Bell would be the starting left tackle this season. He replied "well I guess he's got to be", and added that he was still a work in progress. Bell was statistically the worst left tackle in the NFL last season and you could see just it by watching the games. You can't expect the guy to suddenly develop into a good left tackle with no time to develop due to rehabbing an ACL injury. When Jauron and Brandon decided the Bills could compete with Langston Walker and Demetrius Bell as our left tackles, I marked that up as stupidity, arrogance, and incompetence. I give Nix a lot more credit than that. If he chooses to enter this season with the same left tackle starting (and the same quarterback), it appears to be a sign that he is throwing in the towel for this upcoming season. I had little to no expectations of success this season. I'm fine with being flat out awful this season while stockpiling draft picks for next years LT/QB class that Nix may like better, but I know other fans would be upset.
