  1. At pick 9 you rarely get a chance to get a top QB like Clausen. To me Clausen has franchise QB written all over him. I doubt he will be there at pick 9 but if you look at who is ahead of us the only team that might take Clausen ahead of us is Seattle.

Washington will likely take Bradford (If reports are to be believed), St.Louis will take Suh, Detroit and Cleveland both have young QB's in Stafford and Quinn. Oakland could also take him but they draft so far off the board so who knows about them. KC is likely going to stick with Matt Cassel for at least another year.

However if Seattle passes on Clausen and Oakland drafts off the board we might just have a shot at Clausen but it all depends on what Seattle decides to do.

I don't know about franchise QB. I wouldn't draft any of these QB's in the top 10. The Bills should take an OT or Rolondo McClain if they stay at 9. What they should really do is trade down into the teens and pick up another 2nd rounder.

  2. Steve Young did very well. Ran a lot in college too. Tebow will be fine because he has all the physical tools and the intangibles. All he needs is some technique. Thats the easiest part to learn

No it's not. He hasn't learned them yet. And Tebow is slow. In the NFL he will not be running like he did in college. He will get run down easily. You want him in the 3rd round, fine. And then have a plan to move him to TE.

  3. I am tired of hearing fans say that we need McNabb. We don't! He is on the decline. Did you watch the wild card game he just played in, against the Cowboys? He's not Brett Favre. It pains me to say this, but I feel the Eagles would have been better off with the dog killer running their offense this year.

Forget McWashed Up and draft Tebow.

McNabb is INFINITELY better than any QB they have or could draft. The fact you even mentioned Tebow tells us all we need to know about your opinion. Don't get a HOF QB because he had a bad game and draft a slow QB with terrible throwing mechanics. Okay... :wallbash:

  4. 1st qb going 25th? or did i read that wrong. If so this seems like a horrible mock draft.

Bradford is coming off two injuries to his throwing shoulder. Is he healed yet? Clausen needs to do great

at the combine, show his accuracy. I wouldn't take either one of them in the top ten if the draft were tomorrow. Although Seattle would bite on a QB where they pick, I'm thinking.

  5. I'm actually cool with Modrak. I suspect that many of the misses that have occurred over the years (especially the first round blunders) were NOT his fault.

Get outta here with this. All of a sudden ole' Modrak should stay? Because people somehow believe the past 10 years all the picks he wanted went on deaf ears? Guy was dealing with the same "inner circle". He could easily come out and say next week that the "inner circle" didn't take his suggestions because they were too expensive or whatever. BOTH of them need to go. PERIOD. Modrak isn't the only well respected scout in the world people. See Buddy Nix. I don't get the logic of folks thinking Guy was wheeling and dealing on his own without reporting to the inner circle and Modrak was somehow tied down by them. They need to change the energy up in that building and Modrak should be out the door too.

  6. anyone who doesn't think that Clausen is a stud quarterback did not watch any Notre Dame games this year. 28 TD's ,only 4 INTS all season, and played well even in all of ND's losses as well as playing most of the season with a bad foot. If they had any defense at all he may have won the heisman. Oh yeah... and his best receiver went out in week 2 with a season ending collarbone injury. We could do alot worse.

Tate was his best receiver not Floyd. But Clausen did show a lot of toughness and a strong arm. I still would prefer they go McClain or a LT if one isn't gotten in FA.

  7. Agreed. I think we are going to see a FB brought back into the offense if his previous stints were any indication. The only thing I see going south is the QB situation. It is time to clear this roster and start over hopefully with someone from the first round of the draft.

No. If they pick at 9 they need an OT or a MLB. All of the QB's have warts that would make me shy away from any of them in the top 10. What the Bills should do is trade down and pick up an extra 2nd round pick. Then use one of the 2nd rounders to take a QB. The only way the Bills should not be taking an OT in the first two rounds is if they get McNeil from San Diego in FA. THAT would open up that first round pick.

  8. We're all Bills fans and obviously too tied to them to turn our backs; even though we all might think about it a lot nowadays. Maybe the answer is for all of us to get a side piece team. Some team in the NFC that we can root for when it does not directly affect the Bills fortunes. Just for the sake of sanity. I've never been able to root for multiple teams in one professional sports league and never understood people who have multiple "favorite" teams. But I'm starting to get it. OBD gives us bad product continuously. We deserve better for our time and money.

  9. It's clear that Nevergiveup has some sort of inside info. That being said, this board has gained an enormous amount of publicity over the years within Bills Nation, and due to this fact it's perfectly logical to believe that Russ and the F.O. keep tabs on this board daily. My question is... knowing full well what the response from the fanbase will be... WHY hire Gailey? He's had no real success in previous HC stints and will have a vast majority of the fanbase irate. I truly believe there is a plan in place to keep the team in Buffalo, and am not buying into the conspiracy theory of intentionally pushing fans away. That being said, however, WHY Gailey?

I don't like this hire either if this is what we get, but if Nix feels he is the best man for the job it should not matter what we think. He's a football guy. Russ and Mr. Wilson are the ones who should be worrying.

  10. Looking at Gailey's track record , I can't say its that bad , at all. Having said that , I feel totally let down if he is the new HC. I really wanted a HC , whos respected around the league , to come in and rejuvanate this team , based solely on his reputation , and then back it up with a solid next year. Chan Gailey is not that guy. But , in all honesty , I would take him over Frazier.

He's a coach with a mediocre record all in all at every level. We all wanted a guy with experience and track record of SB success. If it wasn't one of the big 3 or Billick I'd rather go with a guy who is out to prove something over Gailey. A fresh face so to speak. At least he doesn't have a losing record like Jauron did, but that ain't saying much...

  11. I was never that big a fan of Frazier to begin with. Looks much too inner-focused just like Dick Jauron. He has that same weird stare. Time to keep interviewing the list of coordinators and move on to the possibility of Callahan, Billick, Martz or Fassel. If it were me, I'd try to raid the Jets coaching tree starting with Callahan as head coach. The Jets have arrived at what the Bills are shooting to become. Strong offensive line (use 1st rd pick on OL), strong running game, strong defense. Let the pilfering begin!

You would take Callahan over Frazier? Callahan who washed out in Oakland? Callahan who was terrible at Nebraska? You can offer up a better candidate than that.

  12. To say the organization has made no committment is a load of crap, and Ismael is just flapping his gums with an opinion - to sound like he knows the scoop.

Have the Bills made bad personel decisions? Yes...repeatedly....no question, but to say the organization isn't committed to winning - or finding a way to win is nonsense.

This organization has not been to the playoffs in ten years; let many of their best players walk away because they don't want to pay them the going rate; have a meddlesome owner... You don't think Mularkey put the word out? Or Gregg Williams? The Bills suffer from a reality problem and a perception problem. The ten years out of the playoffs cements both.

  13. If true, it's a typical uninspired hire at a time when the franchise is at a crossroads and cannot afford another blunder. This guy seems like more of a Jauron clone tha say a Mike Tomlin. Be ready for the "He's the guy we targeted all along" presser from Nix. Garbage. The Tampa 2 only works with exceptional athletes. Newsflash: we don't have them. This team needs to go to a 3-4 and stock up on LB's . Then get a true noseman. It will take far too long for this team to be any good running a cover 2 scheme. We need new players at almost every position in the front 7 to be effective. Get Harbaugh. At least he's been a head coach at some level and turned around a joke of a college program.

Dude, you don't think the 3-4 requires exceptional athletes? This is the NFL. If a team does

not have elite players they don't win. Does not matter what system they happen to run.

And why is Frazier more like Jauron to you? Because he's not spitting at the mouth on the

sidelines? LoL. Come on now. Two different people.

  14. I'll say no to both Frazier and Fewell or I'll  , I really can't stand the Tampa 2 defense. I don't care who the DC is, or the players are. The Bills have smallish defensive players because of that idiotic Jauron and his craptastic scheme.

The Bills defense was last against the run this past season and they have been horrid stopping the run since Jauron got hired.

If either of these two gets the Job you can pretty much predict the future for the next three years... last in the division.

Man, I'm sure you have watched some Vikings games this season. They run a version of the cover 2 yes. The players they utilize to run it are BIG. The DT's and LB's are bigger than what the Bills use. Just because it is the same scheme does not mean the personnel utilitzed will be the same. The Vikings players are quick like the Tampa Bay scheme calls for. They are also bigger than the players used by Indianapolis. Besides its not the scheme its the players. Get better players the scheme will look better. Period. If the Bill ran a 3-4 with their current personnel you would hate that scheme too. The coaching search isn't the Bills issue. March and April will tell the tale of the Bills 2010 season no matter who the coach is. Frazier is well respected in the league for a reason. So is Fewell. Better players make coaches and their systems look good.

  15. OK good....toughness. And he knows how to prepare an entire team how? The guy hasn't even been entrusted to run one entire side of the ball since becoming a coach.

Sorry folks but he has been a coach this long and hasn't even been hired to coordinate. That to me is a big red flag but hey, this is Buffalo we will clamor for anyone willing to interview for the job right?

People only like him because they have heard of him for years as a player/coach. He wouldn't be bad, but he's far from the sure thing everyone makes him out to be. He's not a demonstratively better candidate than Frazier or anyone else. In fact, Frazier is probably more qualified. He's been a coordinator for years to good effect.

  16. in order of importance

1 no head coaching expierence. At this time I think we need to get as close to a sure thing as we can. 10 years is a long dry spell

2 tampa two , lets get big on d

3 I woulnd't mind a top notch d guy but the Vikings are not that unit . 2000 ravens were and it is not like Marvin Lewis has been the next Lombardi .

4 leslie ,really , we want a coach named leslie

5 Brian Billick is still out there

6 The Bills really need a complete offensive overhaul . It seems to me we could just keep perry if this is the route we are going

7 leslie we really want a coach neamed leslie

    8 I don't know but I liked trying

The bottom line is we have been hyped on Cowher for a week . This is a huge comedown.

I'm glad you finally listed your reasons.

    1. Nix said he prefers HC experience. He did not specify at what level. Frazier was a head man at a small college.

    2. It's not the Tampa 2. It's the players running it. The Vikings D utilizes BIG linemen in the middle and Big LB's.

    3. The Vikings D is a very good unit. The Ravens 2000 defense was one of the best in history. That doesn't happen

every year or every five years or ten. You cannot say because Marvin Lewis coached a great defense and in your

opinion isn't Lombardi (how many HC's are in that class?) that Frazier won't be good. This is an illogical argument.

    4. You wasted time typing that? Are you still in nursery school??

    5. I agree he should be interviewed, but that's no bearing on Frazier's qualifications.

    6. Who's to say Frazier does not have a great offensive philosophy and connects to coaches who can implement it?

If the Bills were as impressed with him as has been reported he would have had to address these two factors.

    7. Yes, if he's the best candidate.

    8. True. But Cowher was never a guarantee. Why do you want a coach who doesn't have the balls to take the

job? If Frazier is the best candidate and he WANTS the challenge you can't beat that. And there is nothing that says

Frazier will be the guy. It's only 10 days in.

  17. I can come up with 20 reasons that are fairly obvious to most of us. Again you will be happy with this hire ?

Then come up with them or be quiet. You sound irrational. You mean to tell us that Harbaugh is MORE qualified to be the Bills HC than Frazier? You already lost credibility. Everyone wanted a HC with previous HC experience and a track record of success. That doesn't appear to be an option unless they bring in Billick. If we go the coordinator route then Frazier is as good a candidate as any other if not more so.

  18. clearly could use him. I'm more inclined to go LT, assuming all the QB's worth drafting are gone by 9. But the more talent potentially available at 9, the better.

The Bills should not touch a QB at number 9. They need a player who can contribute immediately. I'm not convinced about any of the QB prospects at number 9. I'd rather get a QB in Rd. 2. At number 9 I say OT or LB. And if both are on the board I would be hard pressed to choose. McClain looks like a Patrick Willis type guy. I think this decision will come down to what they do in FA. If they can get an OT in FA they are free to get a McClain. If they don't then they will need to take OT.
