  1. Marty? Please how many playoff games has he won?

More than Phillips, Williams, Mularkey and Jauron put together with three different teams.

He's a great coach. Hate to tell you this but count the number of NFL coaches there have

been in the super bowl era and count the number who have even played in the SB or gotten to

the championship game. The have nots will far outweigh the have's. Schottenheimer is

all the things Nix said he is looking for in a coach: a leader and a teacher.

If he would coach the Bills they would get better quickly. It's happened at every stop in

Schottenheimer's career. A coach can't get more proven than that.

  2. Yep. Just what we need to turn things around.... a frickin 70 year old GM. What next, Mora, Schottie, Levy, Reeves as HC.

    Holy mother mother of Mary.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Schottie would be a great coach for this team. He's a leader, a teacher and a winner and all of those are proven

traits over time with multiple teams. His last season 3 yrs. ago the Chargers were 14-2. He has nothing to prove

in his credentials. I would LOVE him in B-Lo.

  3. I wasn't happy at first. Actually, I was highly pissed off. But after hearing Nix out I feel better. He knows what we do. Strength and conditioning needs to be improved, line rebuilt, importance of the draft, pay players who play well instead of letting them walk. He better hire the right coach though.

  4. Buffalo catches the wind off the lake and is particularly notorious for bad weather and snow, not so horrid if your used to it I suppose.

Notorious to who? I would argue it's more notorious to people not from WNY who like to

deal in the stereotypes they heard others say. The weather can get bad, but no more

than any other northeastern or midwestern city. It's supposed to be cold in the winter

time. When did everyone turn into such poontangs?

  5. Hey if the Bills hire Cowher on January 15th, I'll take it all back, but for now, I'm in the "he needs to shut his yap" camp.

Why should he do that? Because you don't want to get your hopes up? LoL. Thurman is on a radio show. It's his job to

talk about the Bills. Do you think it's possible that a man who was one of the faces of the organization for over 10 years

might have some connects inside and around the organization? He never said anything about Cowher from what I heard. He said the Bills would make a big splash and he wanted to be a part of it. He doesn't need to shut his yap. You need to wait and see...

  6. I dont know why people still think Cowher is still a possibility. I am 10000000% sure he will not be our coach as he already said no...PUBLICLY

NO HE DID NOT. (sigh) What he said was he will not interview for any jobs before the season is

over. Where in there do you hear "I don't want the Bills job?" Litstening in fundamental. It might

turn out he takes a different job. It might even be likely. But he NEVER said he would not interview

for the Bills job. He said he will not interview for ANY job during the season.

  7. I never thought Cowher would come here ever. So hearing that the Bills contacted him and that he was more then respective (Once again according to a internet source granted one that has been right on a few things before but still its just some dude on the internet) is a good sign.

I also think that the Bills ownership situation being perceived as stable is another good sign for the franchise and further bolsters the idea of a big name coming here (One of the biggest knock against a big name was that they didn't know wither the team would stay in Buffalo or not).

Now as far as Cowher being a good fit as a head coach. I would like it but not love the idea of him being the head coach. For one he knows how to build a cold weather team that pounds the rock well. He is also a guy who knows how to build a tough D he loves the 3-4 (I don't but I think he knows how to build a D) which is the current flavor of the NFL.

So cold weather guy who has won in the past and the only reason he isn't employed is because he choose to leave (Still relatively young at 52 years old) BUT the guy does have some flaws he did struggle to win in the playoffs against the Pats* and did struggle to find success in the post season with top talent year in and year out. Also I know a lot of Steelers fans who thought Cowher was very overrated and should have won a lot more while he was there.

So I would take Cower plus a good GM he could work with in a heart beat BUT my excitement would be tempered a bit.

Most of the stuff u read these days are from bloggers or journalists who present info they heard from bloggers. Sal hasn't been one to offer speculation as fact. If it's speculation he will tell you. A report like tonight? It's probably good info. He has a good track record.

Every team's fan base thinks they should win more. Outside of a few organizations: 70's Steelers new millenium Pats and the 80's 49ers what team wins a lot of SB's in 15 years time? Or even plays in one super bowl, let alone multiple ones like the Bills did? The best thing to hope for is that the players and coaching gives the team a chance every year to win it all. Cowher did that. Andy Reid does that. I would love for the Bills to have that consistent chance at winning it all every year.

  8. "He definitely could build a team that is made to play in Buffalo (of course, we only had 2 home games under 40 degrees but still)."

    Why so sure??

what single shred of evidence in Cowher's career as a COACH supports that he has any clue whatsoever on evaluating talent and building a team?

He may be able to coach a blue collar team, but even that is questionable as he screwed up more home playoff games with superior talent than any coach available.

Nobody can be sure of anything no matter who is hired. Cowher is a coach who has won more games than he's lost. He's led his teams to multiple playoff appearances. He's led his team to a SB win. What more can you ask for? If Andy Reid were available he'd be a good coach to get and he's never won the big one. Not winning the big one is no sin. Continually putting your team in a position to play for the big one is not easy; I will take that track record over Dick Jauron's losing pedigree as a HC. Or a hot coordinator. He's a quality coach with a winning pedigree at the highest level. We could do worse. But if he isn't the choice whoever they get will hopefully have a winning history in the pro game.

  9. So a guy named "Coach Sal" is breaking inside information about a very personal business affair of a multimillionaire. Got it.

Sal has broken info. on other Bills boards in the past; including Lee Evans extension and TO signing with the Bills, b4 seeing it on ESPN, SI or Foxsports. He seems to have some good sources. He could always be wrong, but based on past experience reading his stuff if he puts something out there it usually turns out to be good info.
