  1. I read somewhere that a request to change uni's takes about 18 mo's to get approved by the league and Reebok. Nothing this year unfortunately. These current ones we wear don't even match! C'mon, a thick red stripe that "transitions" into a more traditional multi-colored striped pattern....ughhh!!!

How do you know they haven't done that?

  2. Kelly is right about one thing, Trent Edwards sucks. But he's not a college talent evaluator. He doesn't know the system, the players or the coaches down there so he needs to relax. I get the feeling Buddy is going to do what Buddy is going to do anyway. Stick to your job as Bills Rep Jimbo, leave the college stuff to the pros.

Buddy will do what Buddy will do. Agreed. But remember Buddy saying he believes a team should draft production? Guys who are not one year wonders, but who have done well over time; the thinking being if a guy has been successful over a long period of time he will more than likely continue to be successful. Tebow fits that category; successful over time, won a lot of games against the stoutest competition in the country, great intangibles, work ethic etc. Although I don't see it at the pro level, I have a feeling Buddy does. It wouldn't come at number 9, but I wouldn't doubt they trade up into the bottom of the 1st if Tebow is still there and they grab him then. For whatever reason Tebow seems to have teams excited about him again after his workout.

  3. Never doubted you, naj - thanks for the info

Would hate to use our 1st or 2nd round pick on him, but am beginning to warm to the idea of grabbing Tebow in round 3, assuming he's still there, and a QB depth chart of Brohm, Fitz, and Tebow...

    1- Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa

2- Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee/Terrence Cody, DT, Alabama/Ricky Sapp, OLB, Clemson

    3- Tim Tebow, QB, Florida

4- Cam Thomas, DT, North Carolina/Jason Worilds, OLB, Virginia Tech

    5- Riley Cooper, WR, Florida

    6a-Brandon Carter, G, Texas Tech

    6b-Danario Alexander, WR, Missouri

    7a-Josh Hull, ILB, Penn State

    7b-Adam Ulatoski, OT, Texas

    GO BILLSSS!!!!

    19 and 0 baby!!!!! B-)

Dan Williams will be gone in the top half of the 1st. Cody might be gone by the bottom of the 1st. Tebow will go in the 2nd or earlier, Cam Thomas will go in the 2nd.

  4. Thanks for the info. Question about Edwards. Didn't he lose the team last year? I know there is a new staff but seemed like they all lost confidence in him.

Like you said, new staff. EVERYBODY has something to prove. They don't have time to hate on Trent; even though they would be well within their rights to hate on Trent.

  5. Thats the problem, without a decent QB, none of our WRs are taking any passes. We need a QB. If you can get a quality starter for a second round pick, what is the problem. I understand that he is nearing the end of the road and would be reluctant to sign a long term deal here. But thats up to Russ and Buddy to sell him that we are trying to win. Offer him a 2-3 yr ectension and promise that we will go LT in Rd1 and sign a FA wideout. Maybe he would want to play with Kevin Curtis again.

This just seems like a no brainer. 2-3 yrs of very good QB play for a #2 pick, sign me up.

If he didn't sign an extension they would not make the trade. The fact that people would rather have a pick than a top 10 QB in the league is beyond me. Way beyond me. There are DT's to be gotten in Round 3. They could get a LT in Rd. 1 or trade down and pick up another 2nd or 3rd. McNabb is a real QB which the Bills haven't had in years.

  6. I do not understand why he wouldnt want to come here, yet he says he will go to St.Louis.

Slow down. McNabb NEVER SAID he wouldn't come to Buffalo. He hasn't said anything except if the Eagles are

going to trade him to do it quickly. That's it. Those old "sources" are at work again. Don't believe anything

you read from bloggers. They all regurgitate each other. A couple days ago the Bills were the team being

talked about as after McNabb for picks at the league meetings and nobody said McNabb wouldn't come to BLo

then. So I say all that to say, don't worry about it.

  7. Alert, alert, another one of those who thinks complete change in the FO, and a respected FO man leading it, is a sham without giving them a chance. ALERT!

Maybe Tebow is really, REALLY, wrong for the Bills given all factors. You Know the complete overhaul of the team and the complete overhaul of him as a QB.

Just like Buddy missed nothing by going to bed, Tebow wont be drafted by the Bills, therefore Chan misses nothing by letting the tape collect dust.

Unless they trade for McNabb. Then Tebow will be on the table.

  8. He brought his team to the playoffs more than 8 times, 4 consecutive NFC Championships, has had terrible receivers at times (unless you consider hank Baskett, Freddy Mitchell good ones).

When was the last time teh Bills have a winning season, let alone playoffs?

What you said. I think some Bills fans have gone crazy. A Hall of Fame QB is not good enough now? Wow. Yet, all anyone says is the QB's on the roster suck. Most don't want Clausen or Tebow. Folks would rather keep that 3rd round pick and take Dan LeFevour, who might be good at some point, but who knows. Newsflash; if they get McNabb they will draft a QB to bring along behind him this year or next. If McNabb is available for the right price they should get him and do it quickly.

  9. McNabb for a conditional third. The Bill's third round pick this year...then if the Bills make the playoffs (with McNabb playing the majority of their games) they get next year's second, or if the Bills have a winning record (with McNabb playing the majority of their games) they get our next year's third. That is the MOST I would offer the Eagles for about the tenth best QB in the NFL with injury issues and who has only about two productive years left.

Where did you get your crystal ball. I would love to get one so I can tell the future too. Two years, huh?

  10. it would be nice if he would emphasize how we are actually going to address areas of actual need.

Why would he do that?? If he did fire him immediately. Why give the guys drafting around you an indication what you want to do? You have to learn to read between the lines. Nix has told us already how he sees drafting; you take PRODUCTION. Guys with a long track record of success. Taking the best guy available at a position of need. Outside of that they don't need to say anything. Look at what the Bills need and look at the available players at those positions and that will give you some vialble possibilities.

I would also remind folks they do need a RB, can't go into the season with two. And they could use a guy who can score from anywhere on the field like a Spiller or a McCluster.

  11. hes a project with lots of potential, soooo how long you willing to wait? 3-4 yrs would be about right, he's only been a FT starter for 1 yr, so there's a big learning curve, but with the proper coaching he could be a good one, def. a guy with alot of tools

If they trade for McNabb you can defnitely look for a guy like Brown to be developed behind him.

  12. Im hearing a lot of OTs and QBs in mock drafts for the 9th spot. I do not think there is a top 10 talent O-Line or Qb besides Okung and Bradford. I think experts are putting guys like Clausen and T. Williams and Buluaga up in the top 10 because there is a need for those positions. I believe the Bills will go best player available and this guy will be there because he hurt his hamstring and played on a bad defense. The best pass rusher in the draft..... BRANDON GRAHAM and go o-line and d-line the in picks 2 and 3

Not at 9. If they pick him they will have traded down into the teens. Would love it if they traded down, picked up an extra 2nd or 3rd and drafted Graham.

  13. I was impressed at how Claussen was the first ND QB in like 40 years to lose to Navy. Then he did it twice in 3 years

ND lost to Navy; team game. He doesn't play defense or coach. Clausen performed pretty well individually in that game and most games. I'd rather they trade down and pick up another 2nd round pick or trade up and grab Okung, but Clausen isn't as bad as his haters want to make him out to be.

  14. Today I know for sure there are some CRAZY people on the message board at best and straight DUMB at worst.

Hating on man because he tweeted, or is doing what he wants to do on his own time in the OFF SEASON, assuming he isn't working out or working hard, because if you've seen a pic of the dude "obviously" he's been eating too much and sitting on his ass doing nothing, or because he is with McGahee who has broken which law again? LOLOLOLOLOL. Common sense ain't so common.

  15. I agree..My feeling is that they will draft Derrick Morgan DE (Georgia Tech). I have been reading up on Derrick Morgan in the Sporting News 2010 NFL Draft guide and next to DT SUH He was the highest rated player at 8.6. It talked about his strengths in each facet of the game. The one thing that I took from the extensive critique was that they failed to recognize any weaknesses in his game, character, work ethic, production, etc....It mentioned that he would be an excellent blitzing linebacker in the 3-4. I really didn't have him on my radar until I started to compare him against other players in the draft. For instance, T. Williams OT has some problems with his work ethic and can go through the motions at times. Do you want another guy picked high in the draft that is talented but has several of the same characteristics of Mike Williams? If SUH DT, OKUNG, BRADFORD, CLAUSEN, are all gone which I anticipate, then I think it's down to D. Morgan and C. Spiller RB

as the next two players to consider even though we don't really need a RB. I think with the Georgia Tech roots of the Bill's coaching staff, and the talent of Derrick Morgan DE that it will be a strong consideration of the Bills to draft him with our 9th pick. There are also a few other very talented players from G.T. That wouldn't surprise me if the Bills drafted them.

Demaryius Thomas WR and Jonathan Dwyer RB. I would also not be surprised to see the Bills move back a few spots in the draft. I think moving back slightly to the 10-16th pick range would not hurt them considerably as their are several talented players in the first couple of rounds this year. If we did I am not sure what just compensation would be but maybe we could pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd round player out of the deal. I do like Brian Bulaga OT next best at his position. Even though he is ranked as the 3rd or 4th best OT I rate him 2nd at the position. He strong intangibles and a great character guy with an attitude similar to Clay Matthews from what I understand. I think he could be picked up in the 10-16th range without being much of a reach. Anyways, I'm looking forward to feedback and other ideas as I can't say for sure how things will or should go. Just ideas on my part! Happy Mock drafting out there!

I have read just the opposite and heard just the opposite about Trent Williams. Anthony Davis is the one I've heard questioned about his work ethic.

  16. 1)To me, this is the key point. Trade back to twenty and Trent Williams will be gone, Dan Williams too. You only make this trade if you really feel there are no guys who you really want who will be gone between those two spots. And I have to figure that there are plenty of guys we'd want between there.

    2) According to the draft value chart, the Bills are getting ripped off in that trade. The difference between #9 and #20 is 550 points. And Houston's 2nd and 4th only amount to 380 + 62 = 442. If I were Buffalo I would want Their 2nd and their 3rd, which would still come out in Houston's favor, but only by a bit. And if I were Houston, I wouldn't give up my 2nd and 3rd rounder except under the most extreme circumstances.

The picks don't have to be given in the same draft year. They could give up the 2nd in April and a 3rd in 2011.

  17. How long can people talk about a guy have potential? At some point, the player has to live up to it or he doesn't. The guy was a developmental player to begin with. It's been two seasons now, and some are talking as if he's close to being very good.

NFL players typically make their biggest leap from year 1 to year 2. I didn't see much from him last year that signaled he was coming of age. When you can't remember the snap count in your home stadium by your second year, that's not good.

I don't know how you can say you didn't see much from him. You saw a lot because his first year was on the practice squad and you didn't see him at all. He made too many mental mistakes, but not necessarily a lot of physical ones. Meaning he wasn't consistently overmatched physically. And he was injured much of the year. He could be wind up being very good. Just make him compete with someone and beat him out for the spot. If they draft a LT he could wind up being the RT or the guy they draft, if it's not Okung or Bulaga could be the RT. Truth is, for a guy who's only played four or five years of football in his life, Bell didn't do that badly. Folks need to remember the Bills are a very young team. Because they haven't won doesn't mean they don't have any players. Young players can improve. They see the game better, they get stronger, they start to stand out and make a difference.

  18. I have to admit I was a huge Rolando McClain fan and thought after the National Championship game that he would go very high in the draft, maybe not even making it to the Bills #9 pick. The more I've seen of him and the more I've heard scouts discuss his weaknesses the more I realize the guy would be a huge reach for the Bills at #9.

He is a very solid ILB prospect, but he fits into the 15-25 range not the #9 pick. ILB's do not carry as high a premium in the 3-4 defense as OLB or DL, which makes reaching for an ILB at #9 even more unbelievable. This isn't a post to bash McClain, I think he's good, but for those clamoring for him with our 9th pick I think you're really off base. After having a Q&A regarding 2010 draft prospects with Russ Lande (former NFL scout, now with Sportingnews.com) I was further turned off about the possibility of McCLain with our first pick. He pretty much said he's seen a lot of film on McClain and that he's not a special athlete speed wise and that he gives up a lot of ground when taking on blockers, often times getting engulfed by OL.

Further evidence that the Bills will not be adding an ILB is that they have 3 veteran's on the roster who currently project as ILB's in the 3-4 (Poz, Mitchell & Andra Davis).

Anyone agree? If not, flame away................

Smokescreen time. Players who were considered great will all of a sudden have "questions" and "flaws" that nobody talked about before now. McClain is a stud and will be a stud.

  19. The best player on the team last season was Fred Jackson why would the Bills waste another 1st round pick on a RB. How many playoff games did Marshawn Lynch & Willis MaGahee got the Bills. The Bills need a QB, LT, NT not a RB early in the draft

I love Freddy and what you say is true. He was the best player on the offense. But he's limited. He can't score from anywhere on the field at any time. He's a very good player, but Spiller is a sudden impact type of player.

  20. He ran a 4.37

And even if he was Adrian Peterson, Id still pass on him. RBs are a dime a dozen. Going back to that draft wouldnt have been smarter for the Vikings to draft Willis over AD? I say yes.

Spiller is a playmaker yes, thats easy to see. Buts its a lot harder to see the types of plays that Okung/Bulaga/McClain/Morgan/Cody make and how they can affect the game. Thats the difference here. Those guys I listed are all bigger playmakers than Spiller, you just arent likely to see them on ESPN. We need need REAL play makers. Besides, whats the over/under if Spiller is ever any better than Bush at the NFL level? Im taking under.

He actually compares more favorably to Chris Johnson. Okung, Bulaga and even Williams might be gone by pick 9. Cody can be gotten in rd. 2. McClain would be good. I'd rather have Spiller than Morgan at 9. Spiller can score from anywhere on the field at any time. Something the Bills offense needs. He can run between the tackles. He can catch very well. He can also return kicks. If the top OT's are gone there is no reason to settle for the 4th or 5th best tackle. Take the best game breaker available.

  21. CJ Spiller is pretty impressive though. 4.24 speed. In contrast...Don Beebe ran a 4.21 and Reggie Bush ran a 4.33

He's ridiculous. He's got good size and great hands. He would be a game breaker and help captain checkdown tremendously.

That being said, the Bills cannot afford a miss at the number 9 pick. They better pick a sure fire player and he's not the Adrian Peterson of this draft.

He's the Chris Johnson. I'd take that. Game breakers do not grow on trees. There are LT's in the the second round who could come in and play. Doesn't have to be in rd. 1. There are DT's who will be there in rd. 3 who can come in and play. This is a deep draft.
