  1. Out of that list, the two that will most likely fall to us that I like are morgan and trent williams. And they weren't exactly the ones I liked a lot in the begining. I say take trent williams if he is there, because we seem to need him more. But I wouldn't complain if we took morgan. The guy looks pretty close to a sure thing.

Also, I don't think Braford, okung, Suh, and Mcoy would be on his list since there it is just expected they won't be there.

Everybody is saying LT, but I would rather the Bills go defense in round 1 and 2. The best medicine for the Jets, Patriots and Dolphins offense is a badass defense.

  2. In his pre draft press conference Nix talked about having nine players ready to be their pick when their turn came in the first round. That you can't be surprised when a guy you wanted was off the board. He also said that a top ten pick had better be a guy that can step in and play right away. Well here's my guess at what the Bills' draft board looks like...

    1. Bradford

    2. Suh

    3. McCoy

    4. Okung

    5. Clausen

    6. Williams

    7. Morgan

    8. McClain

    9. Spiller

As for Dez Bryant, Nix's talk about it being a deep draft at WR leads me to believe that he isn't on their board in the first. Although it would have been beneficial to talk up Bryant as an option so as to get a team to draft ahead and bump another player they wanted back towards the #9 pick.

The top four are on their list. But that's not the real list. If any of those players fell to 9 they would be no brainers. The options list Nix and Co. are working with is probably more like this:

    T. Williams

    Bulaga

    Spiller

    McClain

    Berry

    Morgan

    Hughes (yep)

    Clausen

    D. Williams

  3. 1 - LT Any One. Don't care which one, just a LT

    2 - QB Tim Tebow

    3 - Toby Gerhart

4 - QB Dan Lefevor - So what if they drafted Tebow, he's a steal in the 4th. Plus he played in cold weather

5 - Traded for QB Jason Campbell. So now they have Campbell, Tebow, Levevor, Brohm, Edwards, and Fitzpatrick at QB

6 - WR Mike Williams from Syracuse

7 - WR Roosevelt Whatshisname from University of Buffalo

    Naaman Roosevelt.

Don't need Gerhart. Jackson and Lynch are good. Gerhart is too similar to them. That's why Gailey said he would like a scat back because they don't have that type of RB. Sub Gerhart for McCluster or someone of that type.

Any LT? Be careful what you wish for. Any LT might not be better than Bell. Get the right LT and if he's not there draft a better player at another position of need who can play right away. No need to draft a LT that has to develop. We already have Bell and Meredith for that.

  4. All the Chargers did was make a half ass attempt to make the stadium more ADA compliant for the Super Bowl. The condition over all is still crap.

All in all the only real success story in the NFL for California is the Niners. Every team that has stepped foot in southern CA has failed because we have really nice weather, beaches, and lots to do besides football. San Fran is stuck on a peninsula, fogged in all the time, and the team has a great history and is accessible. As for the Raiders, someone had to placate to the scumbags of the NFL fan base.

Whoever ends up in that LA stadium would need to win quick, and win often because that area has a very short attention span

True. L.A. can do without football very easily. And Qualcomm is a dump! Chargers could very well move.

  5. I would be disgusted with McClain in the top 10. I may be in the minority on this board, but I just don't see the hype in McClain. If you take an ILB in the top 10 he better not have many weaknesses, and McClain has apparent weakness IMO.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I like both Brandon Spikes and Donald Butler better than McClain and I think both could be available in the early-late 2nd round. Yea, Spikes is a little slow, but he compensates that with his instincts, just look at all the plays he made in the SEC. A much better tackler than McClain too.

But anyways that's my personal rant.

What weakness did you see in McClain? I didn't see much when I watched him play. Runs the defense well, gets to the ball, tackles well...

  6. At some point let's hope the Bills learn to not put the cart before the horse.

Some teams can get away with drafting RB's in the first round. They draft better in subsequent rounds, they coach better, they handle free agency better, they have stability at QB or are good at finding and developing QB's.................

The Bills kinda' suck at these aspects of team building.

They need to get stronger at the LOS and get a QB before they should worry about drafting a rb who they can't block for. McGahee and Lynch aren't fresh enough examples? And the truth is, you can get RB's anywhere in the draft and a good line can make a 6th rounder like Fast Willie Parker look like an elite back. That's a time tested and proven fact.

McGahee and Lynch don't have nearly the explosion of Spiller. Not even close. Linemen can be found. They don't have to be taken high in the draft. I would rather have Spiller or McClain or Morgan, who are the best at their position than take the 4th or 5th best LT. They need impact at number 9. Period.

  7. A medium RB looks like an all-pro behind a real O-line. See Thomas Jones in 2009. See any back that ever played under Shanny in Denver.

The Bills don't need Spiller no matter how talented he is. He'd be wasted behind their line and without a QB worth a spit.

BTW, Spiller is a stud. Just not the right pick for this team.

Go to Buffalobills.com and watch the draft luncheon. Nix doesn't agree with you about having a LT.

  8. I'm kinda hoping for a CJ Spiller in Round 1 and Tim Tebow in Round 2 to watch the board eat itself alive.

If they take Spiller nobody should be upset. The guy can score every time he touches the ball from anywhere on the field. He can run, he can catch, he can return and yes, he can run between the tackles too and score. The kind of player who makes up for a lot of deficiencies around him.

  9. Looked pretty good from what we saw in the video.

Go figure, a kid who actually WANTS to improve his game. I like his dedication to success.

He did look good on the video. That's different than looking good with a pass rush coming

while trying to read a defense from one side of the field to the other. Not saying he won't,

but all of the QB's look good in sweats right now.

I would say most of the guys playing want to improve their game and work hard at doing so.

They just don't get followed around with cameras like Tebow. Imagine if nobody followed him

around constantly you wouldn't know anything about his work ethic for certain. But you

could solidly assume he's a worker because he's been successful and he's about to get

    drafted.

  10. Pleading out is a conviction you are pleading guilty to a less crime which is at least grounds for a suspension in my eyes (Assuming the crimes are major ones). I think that if the justice system doesn't find you guilty in any capacity then its a very dangerous state of affairs to hand out suspensions for accusations.

Players will lobby for an actual appeals system in the next CBA. I mean how can the guy who hands out the suspensions be the same guy you appeal to? Honestly what kind of backwards system is that?

Goodell has already set the precedent though. If a player brings dishonor to the reputation of the league he's eligible for suspension. I don't like that he's the judge and jury either. But this is how he is choosing to run things so Roethlisberger will probably get a taste of it soon. At the end of the day the NFL is a private business and like any other company the head can suspend "employees" for continued irresponsible behavior. Two sexual assault allegations in a year's time is a serious red flag.

Not that B.R. is guilty of assault, but he's obviously putting himself into bad situations and that probably includes too much alcohol (serious issue), an attitude of entitlement (serious issue) and bad judgement (recurring serious issue). He's definitely put a black eye on the league and his organization with these occurrences. Goodell has no choice but to suspend him or he loses credibility amongst his employees and a good number of fans. He cannot be seen to have double standards in regard to these "incidents".

  11. Spiller at 9 would be followed by a trade of Lynch for hopefully a second rounder to someone like Sea. I would be ok with this, espescially with the depth in this draft. We are not going QB at #9 regardless IMO.

The other factor is this...The extra pick from trading Lynch may be one we use to acquire Campbell or Vick. If we got a 2nd for Lynch, the FO may turn around and trade a 2nd or 3rd to Was for Campbell.

Personally, I would prefer to keep our picks and build our lines too and see if Brohm can win the job and show us he can be the guy before we go after another QB. I think Vick and Campbell could both be intriguing under Gailey though, so I wouldnt be pissed if we acquired one of those two.

No. Campbell won't go for anything in the top three because the Redskins have no leverage. I would be surprised if they keep him around at his salary to ride the bench. And they need picks. That extra 2nd rounder could be a scat back depending on what they do at 9. Or that extra 2nd could be a nose tackle or OLB. Or that extra 2nd could be packaged with their original 2nd rounder to get into the 1st round to grab a LT, NT or QB.

Disagree totally. Like you said Spiller is a stud. He wouldn't be wasted behind the Bills line because a guy like Spiller can score from anywhere on the field at any time without great blocking. He's quick, fast and explosive. He can catch well. He can be split out at WR. He can return punts and kicks. He even runs between the tackles. The Bills don't have a player like him on offense outside of Lee and Lee needs a QB with an arm to make an impact. Spiller just needs a hand off, a pitch or a screen pass. Any QB on their roster can throw a screen pass or a five yard slant.

  13. I agree that Todd McShay is not a particularly good talent evaluator. We've gone over this ad naseum but the point remains: there are many here who are dogmatic in their belief that we must draft an OT with our pick at #9.

And if the Bills were to do so, there's a very good chance that they would be making another first round draft mistake. So to those who are stubborn in their conviction that the Bills must draft a tackle at #9, I would say, be careful what you wish for.

Agreed. Bills need value at 9. If one the top 3 OT's are available, fine. But if not, I would rather take high impact, i.e. Spiller if he's there. Especially if they trade Lynch.

  14. His suspension was based on behavior and the crimes to which he pled out to were part of that. Its a personal conduct policy but if you don't do anything illegal which doesn't even warrant a trial or civil suite or settlement/plea agreement then is it just policing your luck?

Any women who is at a bar with any athlete can accuse that man of a similar act does that mean he should get suspended if a year later a different women makes another merit less accusation.

His personal conduct was to be in a bar bathroom with some young girl and get himself in the middle of a second sexual assault allegation. An accusation doesn't make it true, but to be accused of something that serious within a year makes one wonder what he's doing to put himself in these positions. Personal conduct is about representing the league. Being accused of thing Ben was is a black eye for the league.

  15. Pacman did plead out to a lot of crimes which is an admission of guilt. Ben had two incidents with not even as much as a civil suite/settlement. Pacman had over 8 incidents with a few pleading outs as well as civil suites and incidents.

Sorry I wouldn't suspend a man for two allegations that went nowhere. Anyone can accuse anyone of doing anything.

Big Ben's firs accuser has filed a civil suit. It's caught up in procedural haggling right now, but it has been filed. Goodell has brought this on himself. Pacman might have plead out, but he still was not convicted. Can't have two sets of rules. A leader has to be consistent or he will lose respect. Don't think the players aren't watching what happens.

  16. I h8 to break it to ya but...

The Ravens aren't about to let Gaither go, they will simply match any offer he gets. The Ravens now have Anquan Bolden so the reports about wanting Dez Bryant must be very old. Also, he doesn't fit the mold of a guy they would want to draft, not high character.

Why would this new Bills regime want to trade for a problem player like Brandon Marshall? I would think that the coaching staff has enough problems without compounding them with a head case.

Donte Whitner and Marshawn Lynch will be traded before preseason starts if not sooner.

In the draft I see them watching how everything falls, if there is a top LT there then they grab him at #9, if not, things could get very interesting. As for the second round I see taking Tim Tebow if he is still there.

    JMHO

The Ravens just had Bryant in for a visit and have been rumored to be very interested in him.

With that locker room I wouldn't anticipate any issues out of Bryant. And it's not like he has

legal troubles. He's just a knucklehead from time to time so the character thing is way overblown.

Marshall is a problem because he wants money. His talent is unquestionable.

Lynch might be gone, don't think Whitner will be.

  17. Here is what they said bad about Jimmy Clausen on Maturity questioned

One knock on Clausen is his tendency to take sacks because he holds the ball too long. he handles pressure well, but sometimes will throw off his back foot, causing the ball to float in the air. the perception that has dogged Clausen the most is he lacks leadership skills and maturity. It's a claim he vehemently denies.

I bolded some words that I have seen when watching Clausen playing some games and the reason why i dont think Jimmy Clausen ain't going to be a good QB in NFL.. Now if he can change all that, then it be a different story. But a lot of QB can't change their playing style.

JP Losmen- holds the ball too long! so why we want another QB that holds the ball to long?? our O-line aint that great at all

Jimmy C. - will throw of his back foot, causing the ball to float in the air.. To me that another reason I dont want him in buffalo.. I watch couple games on tv and JC does throw on his back foot the ball is in the air way too long. In NFL that an EASY INT..i dont know how he rank second in the QB..

You do realize he had a torn tendons in his toe, right? That had something to do with not stepping into throws. 28 TD's to 4 Int's. He threw well enough. And he had to hold the ball because passing was the only way they were going to keep up with that terrible defense they had and mediocre running game.

  18. I didn't think he was terrible in college...he wasn't taring it up though...however he threw for more yards and TD's than Tom Brady did at Michigan...soooo....you never can tell...I don't think Crompton is as terrible as these Gator fans make him out to be...but he isn't Peyton Manning either lol...he's decent and I don't think he is any more of a risk at pick 5 than Clausen at pick 9 over all...that's for sure...I'd be happier with Crompton...

Levi Brown is a better pick in the late rounds IMO...Skelton if he slips to round 4 I like as well...Pike in the fourth to...but both will probably be gone in the mid to late third round

Maybe so, but the games I saw him in he was far from impressive. I would describe him as a game manager type of QB without much game. Nothing he did stood out. Not his arm, not his accuracy, not his mobility, not his decision making, am I being too hard him?

  19. Did anybody out there see him play much? Russ Lande draft analyst in my Bills digest thinks this Kid is the sleeper in the Draft .Goes on to say he thinks he is the 2nd best QB in the draft. :flirt:

Crompton was straight TERRIBLE the entire time he was at Tennessee. I mean I really saw no redeeming value in his game.

  20. Small hands, short QB (JP size I believe). Arm strength is adequate, but I wouldn't say it's strong by NFL standards (Mallett and Locker both have much stronger arms). What bothers me the most about Clausen is how he reacts to pressure. He's one of those QB's who as soon as he feels some pressure immediately sprints out of the pocket, usually to his right thus eliminating one side of the football field. This type of scramble and make a play downfield works in college, but will not work in the NFL.

I think it's very important to assess a QB on his ability to hang in the pocket and have pocket presence. A lot of key conversions come when a QB is able to buy an extra second by hanging in there, stepping up and giving the receiver just enough time to get open. When I watch Clausen I see a guy who panicks as soon as he feels threatened and that won't fly in the NFL.

Say what? Where are you getting that info from?? He's 6'3 that's not short. His arm strength is good enough. Mallet and Locker might stink it up next season or get injured and not be top of the draft QB's so I wish everyone would calm down about Mallet and Locker being better options next season. I saw too many Notre Dame games since they're always on; Clausen has good pocket presence. He looks to throw more than run, from what I saw, but he can run if necessary. Panic? Dude led 4 last minute come back drives for winning scores. Is that an indicator of panic?

I don't know if they should take him at 9. I would rather the Bills trade down and pick up another pick. I think Clausen could be had later in the draft. But if they did take him, wherever they took him, I wouldn't be upset about.
