  1. Typical negative, defeatist attitude that permeates out of Buffalo....For all of you who are convinced that The Bills are outta there in the near future, you may want have a bit more hope. Iknow you might just be bracing for the worst, but the one thing people seem to always overlook is this. The "Buffalo Bills" brand is a proven commodity...simply put -It sells consistantly, over and over again. It has loyal customers who stay with this product. The NFL knows this. The NFL also knows that other certain brands do not perform as well....Like Jacksonville, The LA Raiders, The LA Rams an dso on. Just because you put a team somewhere doesnt mean it is guaranteed success. I work in pro sports. The NFL wants a team in WNY as it has proven effective for 50 + years. Quit being so damn pessimistic about the team leaving all the time. You'd be surprised to know how unlikley it is that the Bills would become a team identified for re-location. The NFL is greedy. They might make more money moving The Bills, BUT there is zero guarantee. There IS, however a guarantee that they will in WNY...Stay positive!

Buffalo's biggest problem. Pessimism. Not without good cause based on corrupt to incompetent politicians etc. But it's on a whole new level now. For all of the negative city development hiccups the Bills could have been moved years ago. They aren't going anywhere.

  2. I'm not sure what part of your post I hate more. The fact that you are making baseless opinions. Or the fact that you are angry that Maybin might actually succeed. Go to sleep.

Nothing, but haters and whiners. 16 games under his belt and he's a bust? Doesn't matter how big he is or isn't just that he gets the job done. Games start soon and we shall see. But no reason to write him off because people just don't like him. that's ass backwards. And newsflash: every player playing the game will get jacked up at some point. As long as after he gets thrown to the ground he comes back and makes a positive play.

  3. Waterfront stadium sucks. 9-10 times a year it is used. After that how does it attract any one? Drive by the Ralph today and see what is happening. Nothing.

The stadium wouldn't be the only thing on the waterfront. Put a stadium down there, a multi-plex, shops, restaurants a new convention center, etc... Build some of these things into the stadium. In DC the Verizon Center has shops and restaurants attached to and inside of the arena. Same at Yankee Stadium. Build Restaurants and clubs into the stadium, charge a fee for parking etc...

  4. It sure sounds like the 3-4 is creating the havoc it was designed to. Thats nice to know. In an Offense vs Defense battle, someone has to always come out on top. So I don't really know what to make of the offense. Are they coming along? I haven't heard Lee Evans name mentioned in any report. The OLB seem like they can find their way around our tackles blindfolded. Again idk if our offense has improved or not. Any thoughts mike?

Don't forget it's still very early. The defense is usually ahead of the offense at first because they can just fly to the ball and hit somebody if worst comes to worst. Offense is about timing and precision it takes a while to get everybody on the same page at the same time consistently. Don't sweat it yet.

And you could always look at it this way: MAYBE our D is be better than advertised, some young players are taking the next step to be difference makers and they might be a hard defense to practice against. Which will make the offense better against opposing defenses come the fall.

  5. Someone should start a thread with tim grahams view of the incident. Maybin was way out of line. When a veteran gets in your face, just take it, dont punch the guy. I have heard that Maybin is not well liked on this team, and not just by schobel, too.

You sound crazy. If anyone gets in your face on a football field as a football player you handle him. PERIOD. If not players will always try to punk you and they won't respect you. This is a different thing from carrying shoulder pads to the locker room. And who knows what Maybin is or isn't in the locker room; unless you are playing. I've seen Schobel interviewed. He never seems to like much so I wouldn't go by him. They don't have to like each other. They just have to play well.

  6. There is no reason to think the Bills can't win 7 or 8 games this year. But, I've always felt that is the case. They will surprise people, but they still don't have playoff talent.

We don't know what type of talent they have or don't have yet. They have a young team. Very possible a lot of those young players who struggled will step into being very good players. Time will tell.

  7. DBell was limited, but looked to move well while he was out there. He threw MaybiNot on his butt. I think the Meredith/Bell battle will be a good one. Meredith looks like he's in good shape and moving very well also. I think Meredith could surprise.

Meredith is playing RT. He's back up to Green. Not competing with Bell; at least not yet anyway.

  8. On offense its the offensive line. There were opportunities that have not been taken advantage of. trading up or down was a possibility. Free agency was a possibility. Trading was a possibility. Didn't get done. Unless two of the existing round of suspects step up to the plate the offense will be flat again.

How do you know they could trade up or trade down? There's a strong possibility that you did not see it happen because it was not possible at the time. I don't know why you don't believe Buddy Nix after all this time. He has done everything he said he would do and been a straight shooter. The man said Bell has athleticism and the organization believes he can play. So we shall see if that's true; he is very athletic. He moves very well. He needed to get stronger. He needed a lot more experience. Obviously Gailey and Nix feel like he has all the necessary tools to get the job done. If he's not getting it done during camp they can always try to make a trade before the season starts.

  9. i like meredith at rt, but wood at center and kyle calloway inside at LG. calloway and meredith would make a mean right side.

not to mention they are all 3rd yr or less, which bodes very well for cj spiller and company.

Why do you like Calloway. Haven't seen him do anything on this level yet.

  10. I am astonished by all the pundits predicting that this team is one of the worst in football. And there are a ton of people on this board who feel the same way.

This team lacked leadership last year. The coach was horrible. Horrible.

Was there ever a worse fit for a no-huddle offense? I mean, 3 points v. Cleveland? They had no clue.

Look at all the recent press on Roscoe Parrish. The guy has flat out speed and skill, and he caught 3 passes last year. What a ridiculous waste of talent.

We were missing nearly 40% of the team by the time things wrapped up. We missed Marshawn for 4 games, enabling Fred Jackson to show his skills. Now we've got a 3 headed MONSTER at RB.

I know people say we have no line. We have issues at tackle. The interior 3 is very good. We signed a guy from Oakland for RT, we've got Bell and Meredith to work at LT, and we drafted 2 guys who have a lot of promise. We've got solid talent at TE, and we've got Josh Evans and a pile of others at WR.

We've got a 3-4 with a pretty good talent level ready to tear it up in the interior, and a TOP NOTCH secondary.

Our special teams may actually be better with Bruce DeHaven back in the fold.

Our head coach made successful quarterbacks out of journeymen, and somebody will be coached into success. We've got the right guy. We've got the right pieces in place to wreak some havoc on the league this year.

Miami is in trouble on opening day. Believe it. It's true.

    Totally agree with you.

  11. And if we pick a QB next year who doesn't pan out while Clausen does? Or if we pick a QB next year who is still struggling in his third year and we don't know if he'll ever be a franchise guy while in Clausen's fourth year, the light goes on? And the rest of our roster is playoff-ready, but our still-cooking young guy doesn't let us get into the playoffs?

Yet again, there's NO EVIDENCE whatsoever that the FO didn't like Clausen.

The evidence is they did not draft him. They didn't like him enough. Simple, really.

  12. And if we pick a QB next year who doesn't pan out while Clausen does? 13. Actually, we once again have a decent chance to have another draft bust. So far all that Spiller has proven is that he can return kicks and catch balls. It's not as if he's some sort of prolific rusher. But we don't have a QB to get him the ball well and we have kick returners coming out of our ears.

He's actually very good at running the ball. Have you watched a lot of Clemson games or no? Because he's also good at catching and returning kicks doesn't mean he can't run the rock. He can and did very well.

  14. While you make a good point, I do think in Bells case it is a moot point (agree with troup and the others though). Bell started most of last season. He was pretty terrible most of last season too. I think its pretty clear he isnt ready to start or compete.

The fact is he has to develop, but most fast are assuming that he will. He has a much higher chance of washing out of the NFL than he does developing into a capable starter. Lasy year was pretty bad for Bell, he showed that he wasnt ready. Meanwhile we havent seen Troup yet, and S. Johnson has shown flashes when gotten the chance. The guys that show promise/havent had any opportunity need to play. The guys like Bell who have dissapointed dont need more chances on gameday, they need more practice.

I wouldnt be suprised in Meredith is the day 1 starter.

Last season is last season. There is a chance any player can wash out of the NFL. I have news for you; Bell could have played a lot better last season, but if you go back and watch the games he made some good plays too. So what, his bad plays mean more than his good ones? He needs to play so Nix and co. can find out if he can do the job consistently. If not then they will replace him. There are a few bills in that same boat.

  15. They could've picked Clausen instead of Troupe, but they knew Kyle Williams wouldn't be able to hold up full time at NT, and probably wouldn't hold up against the run, but they probably equally confident that Trent Edwards doesn't have it, or Brohm, or Bell, for that matter.

Anyway, if Bell was a developmental player, then he should be right on schedule if he starts this year and performs even in the middle of the league, statistically speaking. Really, the way he's been written off, he could be the 25th ranked LT in the NFL and be overperforming.

My guess is that our O-line this year, until they get the pieces they want in place and have time to gel, will be more of a unit performance, rather than single guys standing out. I can see Gailey putting them, as a unit, in situations - calling plays - that will mask their deficiencies.

    1. Who said Clausen is going to be any good?

1A. Nonsense. If they didn't believe they had a QB on the roster who could do the job they would have went out and gotten another one. Same with LT. They feel they have players there who can play with the right coaching. I contend they are confident they have players who can play. What they probably don't have confidence in is the previous coaching staff's performance with these players.

    2. Every O-line is a "unit" performance. EVERY O-Line. That's why it's hard when one or two get hurt or several are hurt at one time. One standout player still needs four other linemen to be on the same page or there will be breakdowns. And every coach will try to play to the strength of his personnel.

  16. There's also this outlandish possibility that the Bills staff took a look at the film and thought that there was room for improvement from our young tackles. We are after all, talking about 1st and 2nd year players.

Please don't talk common sense. You might confuse some of the folks on here. I'm telling you this immediate gratification society the world has turned into has infected sports now. I recall the days when most first round rookie QB's wouldn't touch the field for three years. Imagine that. He'd be considered a bust now days. LoL

  17. I still think this team is in big trouble because of the offensive line. How can Gailey think so highly of D. Bell if he hasn't been able to practice yet? Doesn't make any sense. This team has not upgraded its offensive line situation from last year. I don't see how they think this offensive line is going to improve the same hurt players they had last year outside of Green who is not really an upgrade.

All this optimism for a team that has not addressed its most glaring problem from last year. This offensive line will not suddenly become good just because we have a new coaching staff. This offensive line is still not talented enough to open holes and give the QB time to throw.

The same HURT Players... You just answered your own question. Players who are hurt can't play or don't always play as well when they do play depending on the injury. Levitre, Bell, Wood needed to get stronger, learn the pro game. It's very reasonable to believe they will be better this season. Again, the coaches are around these players all day long. They watch film of games. They watch films of practice. They did not get this far in their profession by being dumb. They obviously see more in their players than others do for specific reasons. If they don't look good in camp they can always go after other players.

  18. ;) Plus he was drafted 26th, not 11. I don't understand how folks think Flowers was a bigger bust. Maybin is already flaming out, and the only thing that awaits is the passage of time so that we can finally confirm he's a bust. Seriously, he can't hold off Torbor through OTA's? Sheesh.

SIGH... Why don't you wait for the games to be played, man? It's only his second season and he's playing a new position. The true bust is all of these fans on this board ready to throw players overboard after one season.
