Do We Really Want a Republican President?
Rob's House replied to Rob's House's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The chronically poor (as distinguished from most of us who at one time in our younger days had a year or 3 where we were in the bottom 1/3 of earners but who have progressed to gainful employment) are almost exclusively within one of the following categories: 1. Mentally ill: Libraries and diplomas don't fix that. 2. Addicted to narcotics: I'll never demonize someone for struggling with addiction, but government housing, education, & food stamps don't fix that either. Or 3. People who just don't give a fu©k: People who either live off the government, mooch off others who live off the government, or take advantage of someone unfortunate enough to give a **** about them. With very few exceptions, that's the poor. I know some of you derive a sense of importance and self esteem by believing this country is filled with good, hard working folks who just got the **** end of the stick in life's lottery, but that's a fantasy you choose to believe because it makes you feel good about yourself. Throw the transport down the well; so my country can be free. Or, you know, you could structure welfare so it encourages pursuing gainful employment. Unless, of course, you think coercion is preferable. You sound like a 1%. Now that I've labeled you I can marginalize you without having to address your position on the merits. Suck it! -
What will you do if we DOMINATE the fins?

Burn my EJ jersey & cry myself to sleep. -
Thanks, Ben.

I've heard of him.

I'm still trying to figure out why a discussion of our QB situation was moved to OTW. WTF?

Broncos considering signing Incognito
Rob's House replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I personally think the Incognito story with Jonathathan Martin was way overblown, and I was all for bringing him in, especially after how the O-line performed in the first half of the season. But I do think it's telling that NO ONE has taken him on. Not even a team with an injury taking a low cost flier on him. There's a reason why a struggling St. Louis team that prioritized O-line cut a young talented player outright mid-season. There's a reason he's widely considered a dirty player. There's a reason he's still unemployed. I'm not saying he's not worth the baggage, but then I don't know what all his baggage is. Therefore, I can't really say with any confidence that we should bring him in. -
How many losses until EJ plays again?
Rob's House replied to rsxfirefighter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are no passes being given. It's an evaluation process. So far the good has outweighed the bad. But calling for the benching of a QB due to one mediocre performance is ridiculous. I'm familiar enough with you to know you don't suffer from a room temperature IQ so I can only assume you're letting your emotions take the day. Every QB in the history of the NFL has missed opportunities in most of the games they've played in. Every single Hall of Famer has had an opportunity to win at the end of a game and failed. It happens. If the Broncos followed your philosophy Brock Osweiler would be their QB right now. That's my thought. Even looking to next year I'm more concerned with Orton's status than EJ's. We've got Manuel under contract for 3 years. Orton can opt out after this one. I'd rather use every game to see if we want Orton back next year rather than pretending a couple of meaningless games, played after the coaching staff has admitted they've given up on the season, are going to be instrumental in Manuel's "development." -

Everyone misses opportunities on occasion. This reaction after that outing is nonsensical. I guess your EJ man love runs deep. -
You're an idiot. We only gave up one first; the other we swapped.

Was his ego not big enough already that you had to go and give him his own thread?

Today's ''Who whines more?'' comparison
Rob's House replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I may be biased, but it seems to me that the EJ crowd whines the most. -
You need to work on your **** talking skills. If this were high school you'd already be in a trash can rolling down the hall. You need something clever or witty in there to amuse the audience so they laugh and effectively join in the ridicule of your adversary with you. This just falls flat. It's direct, which can work, but to go direct you have to keep it pithy. Plus it's internally inconsistent - You ridicule him for being dumb, but then you cite the fact that he's not in a long term relationship . Get it together, man. PM me and I'll give you the details for how you can sign up for my workshop. It'll help you in life as well as on the message board. There is a modest fee but it should be very affordable for a man of your means.

I think the problem is less about your belief system and more about your presentation. The above sentence is probably a pretty good summary of where you're coming from, and probably not anything that's going to make you the subject of ridicule by the non retarded. But when you start making such broad sweeping generalizations (i.e. ALL muslims) and extreme declarations (kill them all) you turn off people who might otherwise agree with the gist of your point.

i'm not claiming Orton had a great game, nor am I arguing that he is "the answer", but going by your stated criteria I'm not sure if there has ever been a QB who would be. If so you can count them on one hand. -

When EJ gives us the best chance to win, regardless of record. Do you watch more than 1 game a week? -
Do We Really Want a Republican President?
Rob's House posted a topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
As a small L libertarian I'm very happy with our government at the moment. The Republicans controlling the Congress will hold the purse strings tight and avoid passing any sweeping social programs so long as a Democrat is in the White House. But what happens if a Republican president with campaign promises and a legacy to worry about starts pushing for poll inspired legislation? If the Bush years taught me anything it was to be careful what I wished for. With Republicans in both houses of congress & the WH I expected a Reaganesque movement toward laissez faire economics. Instead we got some bastardized blend of watered down Great Society legislation with some marginal tax rate cuts sprinkled in to give it a hint of conservative flavoring. Had a Democrat been in office we may not have gotten those tax cuts, but we probably don't get NCLB or the Medicare expansion either, and however Iraq played out, it almost certainly wouldn't have resulted in the shameful politicization of US foreign policy that we saw. In short, are we better off with gridlock or with self-interested politicians "getting things done?" -

I have confirmation. Don't say I never took one for the team. -

I assume Richardson and Kouandjio have testicles. -
a It's not really a question of whether Dean is generally more valuable than Williams, but rather whether he's more valuable to the Bills than Williams. If Williams doesn't represent an improvement over the other WRs on the roster, but Dean is a substantial improvement over whoever else would man his spot on ST then it's conceivable that he could be more valuable even if he has less overall value in the league.
-
I have a theory. No inside info, just a theory. Hogan and Woods beat him out for the 2 and 3 WR spots.
-
I enjoy the irony. I look forward to more enlightening posts from you in the future.

Maybe by that time you'll "develop" (used your favorite word there) a sense of humor. And I don't really care to talk football with you. There's a reason why the only person on the board who agrees with you is Bills Fan 4 Ever. You're like comic relief that isn't funny. Just someone who says ridiculous things for others to argue with. And I find it highly patronizing and borderline offensive the way you keep referring to EJ Manuel as "the kid." Might as well just call him "boy" while you're at it. He's a grown man and a professional football player, not some piss ant kid on the playground.

I think anyone who watched that game and came out crying about the play calling is predisposed to whining about play calling and will always blame that for every loss whether it's warranted or not. Of all the many things that cost us this game, play calling is pretty far down the list. Given what he's done, I don't think with foresight you can fault the decision to put the ball in Orton's hands in that situation.
