  1. I remember that being kind of the prevailing thought at the time, but the circumstances don't support that theory but so strongly, & I don't believe Whaley said that until after EJ stumbled. Kolb was more of a serviceable veteran who could start if Manuel wasn't ready by the beginning of the season, but if the intent was to have Manuel ride the pine, why cut Fitz? And why roll into The season w/ only EJ & Tuel? It's my belief that Kolb was the contingency plan, not the presumptive starter.
  2. Not only do I think it was a fair question and a reasonable analysis, I think it took some balls to shoot it straight knowing there'd be some backlash.
  3. How do you get a bigger cut of Buffett's money and what are the collateral consequences?
  4. None of the liberals saying they'd vote for Kasich would actually vote for him over the Democrat nominee. Also, if the middle is really that desireable, why are you guys pushing a hard left socialist?
  5. Despite being the Jags, they actually have a lot of young talent on offense. They could be a surprise unit this year.
  6. The Toyota dealership wanted $600 to change the front and rear brake pads on my mom's SUV. I told her to bring it to my house. 2 hours and less than $100 later she had brand new brakes. That grinding might be a concern that'll cost you big money down the road. It sounds like you need a new flux capacitor. If you drop it off at my buddy's shop and tell him I sent you I'll make sure he gives you a deal.
  7. I can't speak for everyone, but I think a lot of what's being perceived as excitement about him washing out is really just elation over the fact that we have an open competition to find the best QB instead of the "all in on the EJ experiment no matter the cost" approach that many have advocated.
  8. I find it interesting how many of the same people who claim that being skeptical of EJ's abilities is tantamount to wanting him to fail get a kick out of calling our presumptive starter "Meh". I didn't exactly jump for joy when I heard Cassel was likely to be the guy, but I don't think a modicum of consistency is too much to ask for.
  9. Hell of a straw man you got there, Franz. So according to your theory, you must either have a collectivist government that foregoes individual liberty in favor of "the greater good" (which was a hallmark of European socialists and fascists in the 30s; you see how that turned out), or the alternative is to disband the union?
  10. The "just cut defense" panacea is faulty on its face. Defense spending accounts for roughly 20% of the federal budget. Entitlement spending accounts for roughly 2/3 and growing. There's not enough defense spending to cut to afford this ever expanding government. It's like trying to fund a Ferrari by foregoing your morning latte. The math just doesn't work.
  11. So are we using the same rules as last year?
  12. I found it amusing. Juvenile? Maybe. Funny? Absolutely.
  13. For me, I don't fault him as a man for decking a guy who may have been trying to humiliate him. I fault him for being an employee who let his personal animosity wreck the company's plan. Hopefully it works out, but I'm surprised he's on an NFL roster right now.
  14. And all those things have weighed down the economic horse to the point where it's back is now starting to sag, and your solution to get the horse moving again is to dump more straw on its back.
  15. If the government set up national food distribution centers while simultaneously regulating the grocery stores out of the market, thus making people dependent on the government centers for food, would that mean the people now dependent on the centers are socialists if they don't want it to up and shut its doors overnight?
  16. I don't know about that. Everybody wants to be into the new big thing. It's not just a way to pick your wadrobe anymore.

  18. I'm still trying to figure out why they cut him in the first place. And the author is a huge kitty, but that's true of most of the writers at PFT.
  19. I know of no country in the history of the world that has found prosperity with this approach.
  20. Two hens were clucking about racial politics and speaking of the ideal of a race neutral society as though it was a passe fashion trend. Apparently it's en vogue to promote racially disparate treatment. It got me to wondering both if racism is the new anti-racism, and if our political culture is just a prodcut of following popular trends not unlike the arbitrary evolution of other cultural trends.
  21. I don't know that your assessment of the situation is reasonable. Sounds like a Jon Stewart account of the story.
  22. I'm not going to pretend cops never overstep their bounds, but plucking a few headlines over time from across a country of over 300 million people is a horrible way to try to quantify the situation. It's the opposite of the scientific method.
