Early 4 Way Presidential Poll
Rob's House replied to Dorkington's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't have a problem with the concept of standardized tests, I have a problem with NCLB. And the Medicare benefit is a classic case of using a steam roller to squash an ant. Instead of a targeted program to help those who genuinely couldn't get what they need, we make an all inclusive program that effectively eliminates the price function by taking the buyer out of the bargaining equation on a national scale. -
I got that you want immigration reform; the last bit was where I drew that from, but on a second reading that was probably a misinterpretation on my part. I like that idea, but until we stop the steady flow across the border I think it will just provide more incentive for other illegals to cross.
-
The person I quoted seemed to imply it.
-
I did link statistics. Further, I don't understand why some of you insist that having an open border is harmless. Better yet, why is it not preferable for us to choose who we let in and do it in an orderly fashion so we know who's here? Is this the world you want your kids to grow up in?

NCLB is garbage. It's great if you have the dumb kid or one who barely speaks English, but the rest of the class suffers for it, and if you have a high aptitude child you're !@#$ed. And FTR, I was opposed to broad sweeping entitlement programs before I heard about them on talk radio. And I'd like to see the data that supports your assertion that Medicare picking up the tab for the prescriptions of everyone over 65 reduced federal expenditures. But in any case, those are two examples of left wing legislation that Republicans pushed through for political reasons because Bush wanted them, which supports my initial assertion. -
I realize that a position coach isn't the biggest deal, but he was a guy we had big expectations of with respect to the position group we need improvement from most (outside of QB). I'll just be really disappointed if the FO makes a move like this that compromises winning for the sake of PR. And let's be honest, as far as PR hits go this is pretty minor. Only the most self-righteous of moralizers are going to give a !@#$ about this story once the season starts.

Do We Have Any Bernie Sanders Supporters Among Us?
Rob's House replied to Rob's House's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That's pretty much all of liberalism in a nutshell. Make the situation of ~80% worse to marginally improve that of the other ~20%. -
Hardy friggin har. You know what I'm saying. He really really wants the theory that illegals commit less crime to be true.

This self-righteous ****'s what I like seeing him stand up to. I couldn't give half a !@#$ about a bunch of brain dead Latinos who want to intentionally misinterpret (or are too stupid to know better) a comment for the sake of being offended. If someone feels offended maybe the first thing they should do is wipe their pu$$y and see if that doesn't help. And I don't give a !@#$ about McCain. He even said "perhaps he's a war hero." His point's well taken - McCain's a war hero to the extent anyone who voluntarily goes to war is, but we tend to elevate him for getting captured when he's really no better than anyone else who fought and didn't get caught. And I'm tired of the faux outrage and extreme judgments of sanctimonious mouth pieces who live to be outraged. It's nice to see someone give it back to them. Perhaps I give less of a !@#$ about his policy specifics because I don't see him riding this out, but caving to and validating liberal politically correct bull **** is why conservatism and the republican party are dying cripples. I see Sanders as the Goldwater of the left. He'll lose, but he'll make socialism accepted by the masses as a mainstream philosophy and pave the way for a future socialist the way Goldwater paved the way for Reagan. -

I'm still trying to figure out how you got Holder's job over me. I hate white people way more than you.

Early 4 Way Presidential Poll
Rob's House replied to Dorkington's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That's a valid concern, but I have plenty to back the unbolded up, I just didn't include it. To give an example, do you think a Republican congress would have ever passed NCLB or the Medicare benefit expansion for a Democrat President? They didn't roll over for that **** with Clinton or Obama, but they gave Bush every liberal bill he asked for. -
You're doing what you accuse me of. You, for whatever reason, have a deep desire for your position to be true. You've posted yet another study that conflates "foreign born," "immigrant," and "illegal immigrant" as though they were synonymous. Further, the data appears cherry picked and largely unexplained. In the article I linked they presented the raw data and explained how they got there. The fact that he admits the limitations on his data is to his credit. That one you cited states conclusive findings as unquestioned facts. I think if you didn't so desperately want to believe it you'd easily see the flaws I do.

Having a Den President with a Republican congress may preserve libertarian policies more than a John McCain type liberal Republican would. With the former the congress blocks liberal moves; with the latter it facilitate liberal moves delivered in a conservative package. -
2 of those talk about immigrant (as opposed to illegal immigrant) statistics. I didn't read beyond that because it's not relevant, although I suspect if I did I'd find flaws. The one by judicial review is utterly worthless. That leaves the reason.com link which was the only one that was both relevant and discussed methodology. It appeared skewed to find a desired outcome, but to be fair I didn't give it more than a cursory reading. Intuitively speaking, it requires the willful suspension of disbelief to assume that Americans commit more crime than illegals. I'm guessing if you omitted high crime urban areas, like Compton and the gang lands of Chicago, that the discrepancy would be far greater.
-
Those articles are ****. The first one doesn't even refer to illegals and the other cites some unknown study by an unnamed university with no reference to methodology or data used.

He's right that the Trump allure is more about personality than policy. It's just so amazingly refreshing to watch a guy freely say things that will draw the media ire, then stand his ground, and hit back when attacked. If the republican party hadn't collectively resembled a giant kitty for the last decade or 2 it wouldn't make waves. But these gutless wonders always pull a Trent Lott and apologize every time they offend someone instead of standing up, taking the hit, and saying "!@#$ you" to the whiners. Maybe someone else will take a cue from Trump and let his balls hang down. -

This woman's son was brutally beaten to death by an illegal alien. It's kind of hard to feel anything for her though on account of all the white privilege she's enjoyed. https://www.conservativereview.com/Commentary/2015/07/Mother-of-Boy-Killed-by-Illegal-Alien-to-Congress

Do We Have Any Bernie Sanders Supporters Among Us?
Rob's House replied to Rob's House's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm far more concerned about Sanders than I am Hillary. I just have more respect for him and his true followers because they actually have principles that they believe in, they're more inclined to think, and they're fairly honest about who they are. This is true. I wanted to use this to highlight that I'm asserting they're honest about who they are, not necessarily about who others are. -

So, from what I gather so far, Lybob is a Bernie guy and everyone else who likes him sees him as marginally preferable to the mediocre Hillary. Am I wrong? -

I picked Trump by default. I still have reservations about him but Sanders is a socialist, Hillary's a neo-fascist, and Jeb Bush is likely to climb into the traditional Bush "be everything to everyone" socially conservativish, fiscally liberalish jellyfish that will accomplish little to advance anything worthwhile, but do a lot to tarnish conservatism in the minds of the masses. -
Do We Have Any Bernie Sanders Supporters Among Us?
Rob's House replied to Rob's House's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think Sanders economic plan, if ever implemented would be an abject disaster. My reason for asking is I have some friends who are big Bernie Sanders supporters who have little use for Democrats generally, don't typically get pulled into the outrage of the week, and think political correctness is bull ****. I was curious if my small sample was indicative of the larger Sanders crowd or just an anomaly. -
