Tell me a real, credible GM that's going to come to Buffalo when your HC is already picked out for you. I say hire a real GM, and let him decide who to hire as HC.

This will sound ridiculous, but I was impressed after Byrd's INT that he slid to the ground once he realized that he wasn't going through 10 people to score a TD. That to me shows a lot of football intelligence. You think McKelvin would have done that? Mr. "You never know when I'm gonna break one?". Or how about when Kelsay got a penalty for hitting Brady when Brady declared himself down behind the line of scrimmage? I remember Kelsay's quote - "Someone had to get credit for the sack".

that's the downfall of the cover 2 defense. that's how you beat it. 20 yard seam pass to the TE down the middle.

why would byrd knock the ball down? have you forgotten how many of his picks have come from tipped balls? You don't think a WR couldn't catch a tipped ball in the endzone? i love how people try to de-value byrd's INTs because they are tipped passes. Chris Chambers and TO can't even catch balls that thrown directly to them. Catching a tipped pass requires a lot of concentration and great reflexes. Also, tell me how many INTs Fitzpatrick really should have? How many times have LBs or CBs dropped balls thrown right to them for an INT? People should be thankful Buffalo finally found a great player in Byrd.

I agree with you 100%. It's the number one reason I cannot fully get behind Perry Fewell. I hate the cover 2 defense and it will stay if Fewell is the coach. If you want a different style of defense, you need a new coach. Plain and simple.

I think the Bills cannot get permission to interview other NFL team's personnel people until after the season ends. I think (and hope) this is the reason.

Firing Jauron now shows the 'big name' coaches we have a vacancy and gives them time to really think about it. Much better to do it this versus waiting until it's too late after the end of the season to fire someone, and then ending up with Norv Turner.

Schottenheimer was fired after going 14-2 in the regular season. If Jerry wants him out, it won't matter what his record is.

Simple: his offenses were terrible. Horrific. Look at every guy they've mentioned thus far. They've all had successful offenses at some point in their NFL coaching career.

when perry fewell gets the Bills to the Superbowl and the AFC championship game 2x, you can make this comparison. Until then, don't waste my time.

I don't think Cowher is coming here. According to Thurman, Cowher is waiting for the Dallas job. Also, I've heard Cowher's demands include a stable QB. That part is definitely lacking here.

They can't throw Shanahan's name out there and not get a guy of his caliber. I honestly think the fans will officially give up on the Bills. It would be a HUGE letdown. I really think they'll get a top-notch guy. I can't believe I just typed that!

hamdan. what is his purpose again? isn't he part of or head of the scout team for the opposing defense? how's that working out? i like the idea of trent as backup. he can win you one game at least. i have no desire to see trent as the starter. that ship has sailed.

I've come around on Whitner this year. It sucks that he is hurt. He was all over the field before he got hurt. Denney's contract is up. So they don't need to cut him. Does Lynch qualify as a 'suprise' cut? He hasn't looked great all year. Is anyone really going to be suprised if McCargo, Ellison or Parrish is cut? The only 'suprise' cut I could see is Schobel. I would be suprised because he's had a decent year. I guess Poz would qualify as a surprise cut, only because a lot of people love the Polish kid.

One thing seems certain to me - the Bills are REALLY pissed about their offense. Look at every candidate that's been mentioned, with Shanahan atop the list. They are all really good offensive guys. Even that CFL coach mentioned had success coaching offense in the NFL. I want entertaining football!! Seems like the Bills do too!!

I don't have a problem with Brandon. That being said, I don't want him being the GM. It's encouraging to me that they want to bring in a football guy as GM. That's a big blow to Brandon's ego. Either that or Brandon himself knows he's in over his head. I'm glad his name didn't appear on the billboard.

I'm excited to see a name like Shanahan and the Bills in the same sentence. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but didn't Dick Jauron beat Mike Shanahan the last time their teams played? Am I supposed to just forget that ever happened?
