  1. If you cut Fitz this year , then next year you have all of his salary cap back, if you wait to next year then you'll get a portion of his salary cap back- also keeping Fitz might keep us in the 5-11 to 6-10 range when we really need to hit the 0-16 to 2-14 range to facilitate getting Bridgewater or Clowney
  2. First of all how is getting refined petroleum products from Canada instead of unrefined petroleum products "Depending on middle East Oil" second of all we get 12.9% of our oil from the Persian Gulf - 9% of it from Saudi Arabia who next to Israel and Britain might be our closest ally - you are quite uninformed, try reading something other than hockey scores.
  3. Why on earth would any American not directly profiting want to move thick ,corrosive, heavy metal laden sludge across the ogallala aquifer so two Koch owned refineries can more profitably produce petroleum products for Caribbean and other Latin American markets- Why don't we let the Canadians refine the toxic sludge and pipe/ship the refined products to the North and North East, making the Canadians more money per barrel and perhaps having the effect of lowering gas and home heating oil prices in the North, North East of America.
  4. What's our government's excuse for backing a nation? 1. The realpolitik reason is nicely summed up by Alexander Haig "Israel is the largest American aircraft carrier in the world that cannot be sunk, does not carry even one American soldier, and is located in a critical region for American national security." 2. The for real politics reason can be divided into three reasons, fear of AIPAC, Big money political donations from wealthy single issue Zionists like Sheldon Adelson, The Christian Evangelical voters who fervently take to heart Genesis 12:2-3 “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you,and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” of course it's a little bit of a mix blessing as they can't wait for Israel to be attacked and almost destroyed as that would lead to the return of Christ 3. And as I recently posted there is no rule of law, just who has power and who is favored and who is disfavored
  5. exactly, as I said in a previous post, most contracts are heavily backloaded, Mckelvin's actual cap numbers might be something like 2.5 mil, 4mil, 6mil and 7.5mil with him unlikely seeing that last year
  6. Quantify much lower- if oil is $110 a barrel, what part of that is production costs, what part is supply and demand, what part is normal speculative froth, what part is Israeli Iran hostility premium, what part is is due to the normal volatility surrounding most oil producers, what part is from sundry things I'm forgetting right now and finally what part is from QE- ballpark figure.
  7. Magox when you talk about inflation can you pullout the inflation cause by loose monetary policy from inflation caused by other factors? you know it's not that I disagree with you about loose monetary policy's ability to cause inflation, In fact about around 7 years ago I made a lot of investments that only really perform well in an high inflation environment because that's what I thought the fundamentals were predicting, but what reality has told me the last 4 or 5 years is that economic conditions can be manipulated or managed to a much greater degree and longer time period than I imagined - you seem shrill to me - It's like you're Paul Revere except instead of yelling "the British are coming" you're yelling " inflation is .6% higher than it should be given market conditions because of QE" I don't know who that's suppose to resonate with - on a different note I was listening Pete Schiff who always seems a little angry that dollar has yet to collapse leaving our country a smoking ruin - he almost laments that the rest of the world still buys our worthless debt and currency- you remind be a little of him Magox..
  8. exactly right, Please people don't be like Bulldog and think that the per year number and the salary cap number are the same thing - most contracts are heavily backloaded, Mckelvin's cap numbers might be something like 2.5 mil, 4mil, 6mil and 7.5mil with him unlikely seeing that last year unless he's really good.
  9. Where is Justin Hunter predicted going now? it was 2nd round
  10. There is no rule of law, simply who has power and who is favored and who is disfavored - it's been that way for most of civilization's history with some relatively brief remissions
  11. Geez I think I remember TPS making the point that businesses were running at slightly under 70% of capacity and thus the "too much money chasing too few goods" meme portending some near term hyperinflation was invalid.
  12. should have been a hedge fund manager if he wanted to pay less - and I hope they have a story later to see if that is what he actually pays - Corporations in America have the second highest statutory tax rate in the world but their effective tax rate is among the lowest in the world- people who can afford good tax planning pay nowhere near the statutory rate.
  13. My prediction for FAs is Byrd, Landry, McKelvin, and Wheeler because Ellerbe signs with the Ravens My second prediction is Fitz to the 49ers for an undisclosed draft pick which turns out to be nothing because Fitz doesn't play in 4 games My third prediction is Fitz doesn't rub his SB ring in our faces because he has class
  14. wrong! the average brussel sprout is just a little smarter than Cam Newton not way smarter- and just to clarify on the three quicks I don't mean that he stands around like a deer in the headlights, just that he's not quite as good as Geno Smith and to a lesser extent Barkely of making a positive play under heavy pass rush.
  15. yeah but the light was better in Turkmenistan
  16. Magox when I hear praise or criticism about a man or country I ask compared to whom- when I hear some British financial !@#$ talking about China's anemic 7.5% growth being because they have State capitalism I want to reach through the TV and say what about your -0% growth you sad arrogant !@#$, or an American talking about Iran being militaristic, seriously when was the last time Iran projected military force beyond it's border where as the American military is almost everywhere, and I ask the same question about Chavez, a bad guy maybe , but better than what came before him .
  17. while growth expectations may be lower now, China, India, and other developing nations have grown in absolute terms and are using more commodities - yes much Europe has stagnate growth or even a shrinking GDP , The UK is having a rough time , Japan is floundering , and the US can't take off- the big question is can China hold on or will they crash like people have been predicting for 30+ years because if you like cheap commodities and China crashes you'll have your wish- China goes and Australia, Russia, Brazil, Iran, much of Africa and Canada take a hit , American and German car companies lose 15% of their sales on the plus side maybe we'll see 3 dollar gas again on the minus side it's more likely that's the moment they chose to bomb Iran.
  18. those slums were there before socialism - personally I favor capitalism, you know the real stuff but lets speak the truth, extreme socialism only flourishes where what went before sucked - what the !@#$ was going on the hundred years before Chavez ? there was a time when Venezuela got a 1% on each barrel of oil extracted that's not capitalism that's predatory- It's like people have never been exposed to history there are limits to what people are willing to take - some times I think there are people in the U.S. who really want to flirt with those limits.
  19. I like Manuel he has all the physical skills ( close but not quite Cam Newton level) and he's smart (way smarter than Cam Newton) and has monster hands (good for buffalo weather)- on the down side he lacks a little of the three quicks (quick feet, quick release, quick decision making) lacks a little swagger you'd like in a QB and the big questions I don't know the answer to is does he burn to be great, does he burn to lead his team to win it all.
  20. I hope they are targeting Landry, Byrd, McKelvin, and a quality LB and TE- Byrd 35mil 5year, Landry 30 mil 5year, McKelvin 22mil 5year, Landry and Mckelvin backloaded.
  21. So tell me when did your parents leave Italy and when did your dad live in Venezuela before he moved to Montreal because right now it feels like you're trying to tell me that De Gasperi was a leftist.
  22. Italy? That's the hell hole your parents escaped from?, I thought they came from Venezuela, so they escaped leftist Italy to go to that libertarian paradise of Montreal, man I really can't say !@#$ you enough.
  23. Look we live in a surveillance state that the cold war commies would have creamed themselves over, political bribery is legal, corporations are people with superior rights, a two tier justice system where if you are laundering billions of dollars of money from drug cartels, terrorists, or rouge states your corporation gets a piddling fine, average Joe hacks his phone so he can use a different carrier and that could be 20 years in jail - I don't think most people can wrap their head around it
  24. I remember the first outcry about drones it was like "why all the fuss it's not like they're armed they're just doing surveillance "
  25. You mean like Chili when Copper prices fell
