  1. Yep. Bunch of people who use corded television or what they can get for free online think ESPN is dying or not evolving.
  2. Yeah the Lions are due for a rough patch.
  3. This one is for @Nextmanup and @Buftex and @PatsFan4Lifeso they can keep their Patriots scores:
  4. Josh Allen has never puked or cried in the course of his daily life.........he rarely sh*ts even. He needs jejunal stimulation to do the former. An occasional teaspoon of ranch cleans out the hidden valley.
  5. It's actually a new TSW technique I have been working on to disarm bickering idiots........I call it "sub-illumination".........it's where you understate a convincing fact for effect. The impact on the lizard brain of the bickering idiot seems significant. Where they normally would just ignore logic and facts because they aren't on their side.......they are instead compelled to point out that my factoid is incorrect.........but in the process they have to acknowledge and strengthen my point to do so. And they don't want to do that. I've tried it 4-5 times this offseason and I've never found a better way to dismiss a BI. So the next time you see me state that the Bills scored 9 points against Jacksonville, you will know why. And thank you for saying that my point wasn't "nearly as flawed"..........but it's not flawed at all...........contracts work the way they work in the NFL. Like line play, it's about how much leverage you have. It's not a personal matter for me. Like I said, if Poyer wants to hold out I don't begrudge him. If the Bills insist on not re-doing his deal or extending him........I think there is plenty of merit for such a decision.
  6. Nice win over a really sloppy defense Rays team, 7-2. Nestor Cortes had another stellar outing..........giving the team 8 scoreless when the bullpen is weakened by injuries. Lineup continues to struggle with LeMahieu, Stanton and Donaldson out.
  7. I don't disagree with the bolded because all they risked was about $7M signing Poyer...........but if he had signed a 1 year deal for the then-league-minimum $660K anywhere who bats an eye? Nobody. Instead he got $6M guaranteed from the Bills. When the Bills signed Star Lotulelei I thought he warranted a 1 year $4M deal.........sorta' like the one Daquan Jones got with Carolina last year..........and the Bills instead gave him 5 years, $50M and $25M guaranteed. They grossly overpaid Star at 2.5 times a reasonable aav and gave him 5 years.....but by the same token Poyer basically got 5 times league minimum as his aav and got 4 years. So "how much" Poyer was overpaid is a matter of perspective. Completely agree with second paragraph. I'd also add that I support his right to hold out. If he wants to use whatever leverage he has........so be it. I just wouldn't extend him right now and am not pained by his perceived plight. He's not a young player and they already have one old safety on a multi-year with Micah Hyde. If Poyer has another excellent year, his relative value as a 32 year old at a non-premium position still decreases IMO. It's not in the Bills best interest to extend him at the moment, IMO.
  8. Oh some Bills fans claimed Poyer was a good signing? On a fan site full of homer's who had no idea who he was until they read that the Bills signed him? You don't say! You literally listed his cap number as 45th among safeties in the first year and then in the 20's for safeties during that first contract.............there are 60 starting safeties in the NFL............get better at math or get better at S'ing TFU. And let me add the following from that thread....... @christrapasso As @JoeBanner13 & others have said, I'm not sure who #Bills were competing w/ re: J.Poyer's contract. But APY-wise, he's 41st-highest paid S -@YoloinOhio Here's a tip.........when a former GM says "I'm not sure who (team) were competing with" that means the amount given was really surprising..........and yeah $6M gtd to a guy who was considered an afterthought on the market was surprising. So yeah, you were lying about the comments in addition to not being able to figure out how many starting safeties there are in the NFL. The larger question is why some people have personal worry about what the wealthy Poyer is earning? As I said, were you mad at him for taking an unexpected $6M gtd payday from the Bills when he hadn't done anything to that point and couldn't stay healthy and was battling alcoholism? If not then why are you feeling unnecessary pain over him not being paid like an All Pro now? He took the juicy guarantee up front and got the security..........I'm sure the Bills would have done a league minimum 1 year deal if he had wanted. But he took the signing bonus plan!
  9. I was wrong, I really thought Shady was going to make it in radio.........
  10. Here are the best available safeties going into free agency in 2017 per NFL.com: Safeties Dashon Goldson, Atlanta Falcons Matt Elam, Baltimore Ravens Kendrick Lewis, Baltimore Ravens James Ihedigbo, Buffalo Bills Robert Blanton, Buffalo Bills Phillip Thomas, Buffalo Bills Aaron Williams, Buffalo Bills Michael Griffin, Carolina Panthers Rafael Bush, Detroit Lions Don Jones, Houston Texans Duke Williams, Indianapolis Colts T.J. McDonald, Los Angeles Rams Michael Thomas, Miami Dolphins Jairus Byrd, New Orleans Saints Roman Harper, New Orleans Saints Jamarca Sanford, New Orleans Saints Shamarko Thomas, Pittsburgh Steelers Jeron Johnson, Seattle Seahawks Kelcie McCray, Seattle Seahawks Daimion Stafford, Tennessee Titans Rashad Johnson, Tennessee Titans Donte Whitner, Washington Redskins Duke Ihenacho, Washington Redskins Do you even see Jordan Poyer on that inauspicious list? He was seen as a scrub not even worth noting on a list that had Robert Blanton on it, for chrissakes. And it wasn't just the people looking from 10,000 feet.........Jordan Poyer was the 69th ranked safety when he actually played(only 6 games healthy) in 2016 per PFF. He was seen as just a league minimum, non-starting quality, compete for a roster spot kinda' player. The Bills gave him starters money.......there are 60 starting safeties in the NFL........do the math. And a 4 year contract to boot! Basically........just STFU.
  11. Yeah I think we have to adjust expectations somewhat relative to the rest of the league. Run stopping isn't a top priority so run stuffers are devalued and don't get paid much so there aren't going to be a lot of dominant one's. Ted Washington's or even Snacks Harrison's aren't out there anymore. Jones and Settle might be a really strong 1 tech combo by current league standards.
  12. Got 2 of 3 from the Tirds. Great first MLB start from rookie JP Sears and fellow rookie Ron Marinaccio put up 2 scoreless. Not much offense but Andujar had a couple hits. Errin' Hicks is having an epically bad season at EVERYTHING though.........even by his career standard of usually having terrible seasons.
  13. In 2017 when the Bills shockingly gave him starting safety money........similar to what an actual in-demand free agent named Micah Hyde got from the Bills........despite Poyer being an injury prone journeyman who had just missed 10 games the prior year.............were you angry at Poyer for getting too much money? Of course you weren't..........the team offered it so he took it whether he had deserved it or not. That's the way it goes with contracts. Sometimes players get money in free agency that they didn't earn.........and sometimes they earn money that they don't get because they've signed away leverage in exchange for security and guaranteed dough in real time. Now if Poyer were both younger and played a premium position maybe he'd have more leverage...........but he's not and he doesn't.
  14. The legend of Khalil
  15. They run some fronts with 2 DT's lined up as 3T's and no 1T. I don't see Phillips playing any 1T unless there are injuries. He was projected as a potentially elite NT with little pass rush ability coming out of Oklahoma but they found out that he plays too tall to tie up blockers and is best suited to shooting gaps.........the exact opposite of his projection.........which may well be what happens with the much hyped Georgia rookie DT Jordan Davis in the NFL as well, IMO. If you can't get low you can't be a good 1T or NT at the NFL level.
  16. Kyle Fuller. William Fuller was a good pass rusher for the Oilers. "The Fuller Rush Man" as Berman called him in reference to the movie "The Fuller Brush Man". https://fuller.com
  17. Yeah I don't disagree with any of that. I think we have to admit that the athletic bar has been raised at receiver though since the likes of Beasley and Crowder entered the league. The league was struggling to find receivers in those years and still those two weren't considered of great draft value. Shakir being a modestly better athlete(at least using combine numbers) just helps the Bills keep pace in the slot, rather than necessary elevating them. Beas and Crowder put up some pretty big numbers. I expect Shakir to be similar if not better. But slots get coins.........outside WR get paper. You gotta' be seen as a real ankle breaker to go in the top 3 rounds as a slot.
  18. There is a perception that he has a couple shortcomings that limit him to the slot. And slot receivers gotta' be pretty explosive to be worth day 2 picks. Which he ain't. He's in the Cole Beasley/Jamison Crowder category athletically............Beasley was undrafted and Crowder was a 4th. 5th round seemed about right to me.
  19. He's quick off the ball and he has about the longest first step you'll ever see, which quickly stresses an OT in pass pro. He has a number of things to work on but it was that initial impact quickly after the snap that made him effective in preseason and early in the season. OT's adjusted. I also think he hit the rookie wall pretty quick. He had played just one season of football since HS and there he was starting in the NFL as a rookie(and leading NFL DL in run stops). He did well under the circumstance but his weakness is just not being skilled enough yet to stringing multiple moves together when he gets stopped initially. I think it's reasonable to question whether what Von can do will translate into things that could help Rousseau..........but I guess I wouldn't rule it out either.
  20. This is your opening, @Logic. Just remember the things I taught you.
  21. You would think...........but the ownership is the greediest in sports. Two decades ago George used to spend $250M to make $30M. 20 years later his son Hal spends less than $220M to make about $500M. I mean they own their own TV network and are worth almost 50% more than the next closest team (Dodgers). They are printing money and when it comes that easy it tends to feed the greed. Best thing that happened to Yankee fans was the Mets getting sold to a spender. Hal has been able to lean on the fact that the Mess weren't spending money. Not anymore. But the reason everyone is either a Yankee fan or hates the Yankees is because they always win. Grasp that........they haven't had a losing season since the Bills were in their SB run of the early 90's. They will cruise to their 30th consecutive winning season this year. There is obviously not anyone in major sport close to that. Second longest streak all time.......to their own run of 39 straight from the 1920's into the 1960's........and they will likely break that streak. As for whether they win more than 5 WS titles in that time..........that may be up to Hal wanting it bad enough. He hasn't been willing to go all-in like they did in 2009 when George was still alive.........or like the Dodgers, Red Sox and Astros have at various times over the past decade.
  22. This is not good for his football career...........a grown man taking a handicapped person device to move luggage to save $5 is in very poor taste.........but then beating an airport employee senseless after you get caught is just idiotic. One of the dudes in the USFL got cut for telling a foodservice worker at their hotel that it "wasn't OK" that they didn't have pizza on the menu. When you are a scrub you gotta' be extra careful not to do dumb sh*t in public.
  23. Donaldson suspended 1 game and must buy corndogs for everyone.
  24. Right.......that's your job.
  25. To me, 2017 was really more about luck finally falling in favor of one of many mediocre Bills teams' of the drought era. That team had the lowest point differential of any NFL team to make the playoffs since the 1980's............and was worse in that regard than any Bills team since the Chan Gailey days. The offense, in particular, was unwatchable bad.........after having been one of the better offense's in the NFL the year prior (#7 in scoring and fewest turnovers thru 15 games of any team in the SB era). It was a fluke that they got in. They caught teams off-guard early in the season with a new defensive system and got off to a fast start winning some very close games..........then limped terribly thru the second half. But fortunately had a pathetic schedule and scraped past some terrible teams at the end to get to 9-7. Some years 9-7 doesn't get it done..........but this happened to be the year when the Jacksonville Jaguars made it to the AFC championship game.........the Jaguars being a team that has drafted in the top 10 in 14 of the last 15 seasons. But as I've said before..........sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
