  1. Washed minds think alike, I guess.

You can call it a washed mind, that's fine. I prefer the term "loyalty." I actually agree with your assessment of Ralph Wilson. I think he's ruined the team. I think he's done just enough each year to get people to buy tickets. I also know he's kept the ticket prices the lowest in the NFL, and I've personally never had a gun put to my head by Ralph Wilson telling me to root for the Bills. They're my favorite team, and that's it. I'll feel a hell of a lot better about rooting for them when they're in the playoffs again than you, and others like you, will. I'll know I didn't use Ralph Wilson as a scapegoat to excuse myself from supporting a crappy football team.

You call me a mindless drone and accuse me of having a washed mind all you want.

I call what you're doing a copout, and your excuse for being "done" with the Bills is weak and convenient. Just another bandwagon jumper along with all of those Yankees, Red Sox and Patriots fans out there.

    Who's mindless?

  2. Not one bit. He was successful in college, but that is a whole totally different situation. He spent a few years in the NFL with the Jets and Pats and was a bust at both, which is why he went back to the NCAA. No reason to believe that he will make the Seahawks a winner either, a big difference between drafting players and signing free agents compared to recruiting for college.

I'm not Carroll fan by any means, but I think (could be wrong) he took NE to the playoffs twice and improved by one game each in years two and three, there. I'd throw a full-blown hissy fit if he ever came to Buffalo, but I don't think he was an all-out bust with NE. I just think the guy's a jerk.

  3. I'm not campaigning for anything... you are. As I said before, if you want to be a mindless drone I'm certainly not going to stop you. In fact, I'll even offer you pity.

An idea: All of these "Ralph is the Devil" people can start their own website/message board called "conditionalbillsfans.com." This way, you'll have somewhere to talk about how much you hate Ralph and how much you are "done" with the Bills. I "billieve" this site is for those of us who aren't done with them.

    Sincerely,

    One of the Mindless Drones

  4. It's over. It is so over with that guy. Time to figure out who the best coordinator will be and my vote goes to Brian Schottenheimer

I'm not sure if it's over, but I'm damn sure tired of waiting for it to happen. I stick to the notion that Cowher is too professional to string an organization along like this. There's got to be more to it. Why would he do this and make himself look like a jerk? I don't buy it. However ... I don't think it's his lifelong dream to be the coach of the Buffalo Bills, either. I'd rather see them hire someone who wants to coach here; not someone they need to beg and overpay to be here.

I'd like to see someone like Rex Ryan. As much as I dislike the Jets, I love this guy and the fire he brings to his team. I love his press conferences and his interviews, too. I don't know much about the temperaments of any of these coordinators out there (Frazier, Schott), but I'd like to see some personality and some fire.

If that's not coming via Cowher, bring it from somewhere else. A little brash cockiness would be a welcome change.

  5. Just what we all needed to read, another "I'm done with the Bills" thread. You don't need to call a presser just leave!

No kidding. This is like the email someone sends to the whole company on their last day .... "well today is my last day. I want to thank everyone blah, blah, blah ..." No one cares. And no one cares about someone just giving up and not being a Bills fan. Ralph Wilson cares less than anyone on this board does, that's for damn certain! So all of you people that are done, get over yourselves and move on to another team's website. Just remember ... that team will suck someday, too. It's cyclical. Even for teams like the Lions, Browns, Texans and Bills. Someday, we'll all be in the playoffs and the true fans will be able to enjoy it.

    Peace.

  6. We don't know how this is going to turn out (whether he's the choice and if so whether he'll be any good), but just think for a second about what you're typing.

What you've said is you want your team to follow the lead of the Rams and Lions. These are obviously two well run organizations and we should model ourselves after them.

    Really?

You know, I tried to get myself to think of it this way. I just can't do it. All I can think of is that these two horrible franchises thought someone else was better than Frazier. Although it appears they were probably wrong, it's still scary that even two of the worst teams in the league wouldn't take a chance on him.

However ... he does have a good history (and I know it was with good players, but still), and he's highly regarded around the league. I do think he's more qualified than Perry Fewell. Going (3-4) with a team that had nothing to lose .. and against very bad opponents .. doesn't qualify anyone as the next Tom Landry.

There ... I'm starting to feel a little better about Frazier now. A little!!

  7. NEWS ALERT:

Chris Mortenson is on ESPN right now and says Seattle's target is Pete Carrol (USC Head Coach) and that Leslie Frazier decline Seattle because he felt is was just to meet the ROONEY Rule

If this is true, then good for him (Frazier). I don't know why African-American coaching candidates would want to be obvious token interviews in the first place. He's the first one I've heard of that had the balls to call a team on it.

  8. I love how Adam Schefter is talking about Cowher being a good option for Seattle....

But on Monday he said his sources close to Cowher told him that "Cowher isnt going to be coaching in 2010" Contradicting himself much? He has been looking like a fool all week with reports from Marty Schottenheimer saying that "Cowher in Buffalo is very much an option" when he was on Sirius radio yesterday and Marty doesn't make things up and especially when he is friends with Cowher. Then this morning Cowher's Pittsburgh Colleagues where quoted saying "Bills and Cowher very much a reality."

Looks like Schefter has no clue what his talking about when it comes to Cowher

I just listened to Schefter blab for 5 minutes and say absolutely nothing. How's this for journalistic genius - "the Seattle Seahwaks will now either go for a GM, then a head coach. Or a head coach, then a GM." Wow ... he's the next Howard Cosell, I'll tell ya. This guy is a dolt.

  9. It amazes me, our FO knew our season was over weeks ago, you would think they would be ready to hire a coach on the Monday after our last game. What the heck is taking so long, the Redskins knew what they wanted and did it. We are going to wait so damn long that all the good ones will be gone. For Christ sake hire Cowher already, stop playing these games and interviewing people you know you dont want running the team and go after the ones you definately do. How hard is it? Im tired of logging onto this site and nfl.com and not seeing a BIG RED banner that says BILLS HIRE COACH: BILL COWHER TO BUFFALO, RECIEVES RECORD BREAKING CONTRACT. Who the heck wants Frazier, a proven DC but not a Head Coach. If i remember correctly Frazier has interviewed with several teams the last few years and none have thought him worth of being a head coach. C'MON FO hire a coach already so we can get our offseason going.

Dude, you need to relax. Offseason started 5 days ago. And don't forget the I before E rule, iether.

  10. Just let us know as soon as you choose so we can ridicule your choice!

If you can trade up for the steak, I'd do it. But don't give too much away for it. Demand the A-1 sauce, too. Marv never went after the A-1 sauce, and that's the reason we haven't been in the playoffs for 10 years.

  11. first of all Syracuse plays in a Dome... besides all that, BRING HIM IN!!! Since his first game I have followed the guys career. I grew up watching him as an Orangemen, and nothing would please me more than following the end of his career with a SB title and hugging Bill Cowher on the podium!

The significance of him playing in Syracuse is the close proximity to Orchard Park. He proved he can play in bad weather by playing in Philadelphia for 14 years. And yes ... bring him in!

  12. This is putting the "Cowhert" before the horse, so to speak, but if Cowher is the guy who are some coordinators he might look at? One that jumps out to me is Jim Haslett, who was Cowher's d-coordinator in the late 90s I believe. While I agree with most people here that Haslett is not a good head coaching fit for the Bills, I'd love to see him as DC.

According to Jason LaCanfora's Twitter post, Haslett will interview for the Redskins defensive coordinator post:

This is why they need to sh*t or get off the pot. Getting top notch coordinators is equally as important the head coach. Totally agree on Haslett as a D.C. They really need to get moving.

  13. Living in the area as well, I mostly agree. Except that I think overall, Philly fans have wanted McNabb gone for awhile. All my friends as Eagles fans and I'd say 4/5 don't like him. He has several warts, worst being his "big game" ineptitude, but I think he is treated way too harshly in this town.

I tell any Eagles fan that will listen, when you get a good QB, you sink your hooks into him. We've been trying to replace our last one for 14 years. :w00t:

They boo'd him when he was drafted. And that was just the beginning of a 14-year abusive relationship. If you ask me, the guy's a first ballot hall of famer.

  14. McNabb just signed an extension. He is not leaving Philly as long as Reid is there and Reid signed a new 3 year deal. (Well, McNabb won't play forever but you know what I mean)

On the surface, that would appear to be accurate. But this part of the embedded article makes me wonder ... and hope ...

"The answer here is not obvious until you look at the contract. McNabb has trade value only as long as he is under contract - which means you trade him now or you have to extend him for X-number of years after the season, with a new signing bonus and plenty of color and pageantry (and a likely one-way ticket out the door for Kevin Kolb, whom you have previously identified as your future)."

  15. Agreed.

You have to look @ the talent available where you're picking and get the most "bang for your buck", so to speak. The worst thing to do is to go into the draft looking to just draft a position, regardless of the talent available @ the time of the pick.

110% agree. We've been drafting for position for years, and it's gotten us nowhere. Take the best available player on the board when our turn comes, and make him a difference maker in his first season ... whatever he plays. Then hope for a diamond in the rough. Tony Romo wasn't even drafted. Brady went in the 6th round. Those teams are in the playoffs every year. Just get the best guy available in the first 3 rounds, and hope they're OL or LBs .. if they're not, find the best OL and LB in subsequent rounds. And if we have a legitimate coaching staff in place, free agency will be a lot better for us, too. I think Nix to GM was a positive move for the perception of the front office; that's where it starts. If they build it .. they will come.

  16. Absolutely.

We think that people complain here on The Wall. Imagine what is happening on Cleveland Browns' message boards right now.

They've got to be out of their minds right now!!

So if Cowher does decide to stay on TV, how likely is it that it just means that Holmgren is letting Mangini stay to ensure yet another great draft pick after next year, AND bringing Cowher in after he cans Mangini? Hmmm ...
