  1. Interesting comments, that include Whaley's name (see last paragraph), by an unidentified source after Nix got his job ....

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...raws-criticism/

Regardless of whether Brandon nudged the process toward Nix or Guy in order to preserve Brandon's turf, one league insider expressed strong opinions regarding the decision to go with Nix.

"The Buffalo hire is a joke and a slap in the face to all hard working people in the NFL," the source said. "The Bills have not been to the playoffs in over 10 years and that run will continue for years to come. The owner has made three hires in a row that shows he only cares about mediocrity.

"Four years ago he brings back Marv Levy, who was in his 80's. That didn't work. Two years ago he elevates his marketing director to G.M. and COO and again it doesn't work, and now he elevates a 70-year-old scout to a position that requires work and energy. . . .

"The eight years he spent in San Diego he had the titles Director of College Scouting, Director of Player Personnel, and Assistant G.M. yet he never lived in San Diego. He lived somewhere in Tennessee. . . . Someone who lives in another city is away from the day-to-day operations.

"Bills fans can rest assured that, a year from now, two years from now, and three and four years from now, the team will still be in last place in the AFC East. The Jets, Patriots, and Dolphins continue to make moves to get better while the Bills just tread water. There are good people who were very interested in that job, like Dave Gettelman, Scott Studwell and Doug Whaley that never got a chance. All those guys could have helped that team. The best hope for Bills fans is that the owner decides to sell the team and then someone who cares about winning takes over and brings in qualified people."

  2. he was a kid who had to learn his lesson the hard way. luckily, not only did he get a "second" chance with another team, but it seems he truly did learn from that experience.

i cant hold anything against him since he didnt commit any major crimes, and seems to have grown-up a bit.

good for him. "too bad" for us.

    ditto.

  3. The man is a piece of ****. Giant N-bomb! Thats just who he is as a person. As a football player he is utterly terrible at throwing, pretty good at running. As a quarterback he is miles and miles beyond the much younger, more talented Brian Brohm. Brohm is a start waiting to be made. Id give him a training camp and let him start the season for us. The kid has potential to be amazing!

This is wrong on so many levels. But mostly because of the N word. Classy.

  4. If Gailey holds an open competition between the 3 QB's on the roster and decides that Trent is the most talented then I have no problem with him being named the starter. No one was bitching about how much "Trent sucks" when the Bills were 5-1.

For the first time in his career Trent has a head coach that has a !@#$ing clue how to run an offense. He also knows how do develop a quarterback. If he wins the job I'll hope and pray that he turns out to be great.

Lets not forget, Favre and Young were run out off teams because they "sucked".

I think Trent is physically able, just not mentally. I just hope Chan sticks to his word and knows who our starter will be prior to the draft. I read that Holmgren never likes to have open competition for QB, and that there won't be one in Cleveland. And he's got 2 possible starters there. It's not like Trent only had a few games to show what he's got. Chan has more than enough tape to review and assess. My guess is that no one on the roster today is the answer. If they can't get a FA, ready to start, QB prior to the draft, next season will be either Trent or Fitz for a year while Jimmy Clausen holds a clipboard.

Congrats on the Orange taking over #1, too.

  5. Good ole Greggo telling PFT that they want to hurt Manning and take him out of the game. Way to go Gregg, announce it to the world. Not like it hasn't been obvious the last 2 games you played anyways. Apparently he must not trust his defense that much if he thinks they NEED to take Manning out to win the game. He will be fined I'm thinking. Once a man boobed B word, always a man boobed B word.

    Art LINKletter

Well, for starters, Greggo's in the Super Bowl. And all he's doing is admitting that it's going to be really hard to beat the Colts with Manning in the game. Nothing wrong with that. And there's nothing wrong with hitting the QB as hard as you can - legally. There was one hit against Favre that was dirty. Out of how many times he got pummelled? It's not only a good game plan against great QBs, it's the only game plan. I can't believe after all these years, people still have such hatred for an ex-head coach. It's not like the guy came here and set out to have the Bills suck. He faced the same problems with the owner and front office as every other Post-Levy coach did; and he got the same results.

  6. Come on ICE, you've been a Bills fan long enough to know how the game is played;

    We're Doooooomed

at the start of free agency we're dooooooomeder

    during the draft we're doooooooooomedest

at the start of OTAs we're starting to look pretty good

at the start of training camp we look like we're going to make the playoffs

in the middle of training camp we may darn well make the Super Bowl

just before the first preseason game we're winning the Super Bowl baby!!!!!!

through the preseason schedule we've reached new levels of suckatude

during the season we may be getting great/good/bad/horrible depending on the last play

towards the end of the season we gotta blow up the whole organization

We're Bills fans ...... we can't help ourself

Perfect. If you could find a way to put this on a plaque or something framed/matted it would end up on thousands of walls. It's spot on.

  7. GT fans developed a website called "Fire Chan Gailey.com", sound sort of familiar? Sound similar to something else you might have heard regarding Jauron? I knew Jauron was a stinker and I'm calling this one a stinker too......I am hanging around for the ***** and giggles at this point. It should at least be a fascinating ride as we travel down that road to Hell in a handbasket.

Go sh** and giggle somewhere else. You think you're going out on a limb by predicting we won't be good next year?? Who are you? Adam Schefter? A little optimism never hurt anyone. Your comparisons of Gailey to Jauron are without merit; mostly because Gailey hasn't even coached the Bills in OTAs, let alone a season. Save your complaining for when Gailey and staff have done something to complain about. Basing your opinions and predictions on the Chiefs and Georgia Tech isn't brilliance.

  8. If Maybin doesn't come into camp wearing 20lbs more muscle then I doubt he'll ever make it as an NFL DE. The positive that he has going for him is that he came out a year early and still has some growing and filling out to do.

I would think that if he's not contributing by game 10 of next year then he should look at moving to LB or he may have a short NFL career.

Personal motivation is a strange thing, some have it, others don't. We'll find out if Maybin has it......

I was thinking steroids, but maybe personal motivation will work, too!!

  9. the questionable pick of Maybin doesn't mean that he won't pan out. But we chose to draft him knowing he was a project and would take at least a year before he might be able to really contribute. That fact alone just makes the pick WAY riskier, in a already very risky business.

I agree with this. Difficult/impossible to call someone a bust after a year. Risky pick, indeed. Let's give it a year or two more to see if he's a bust.

  10. If he joins the team i will support him like any other player. I just don't like the guy. He rubs me the wrong way. There are many situations where he could have taken the high road like a true leader and failed to do so. I think he is whiner.

The guy has stats and has accomplished alot. He also has bombed a few times and failed to take responsibility for it.

Bringing Mcnabb in is a bandaid ifyou ask me. He is 34 years old and his best days could be behind him. I don't want to bring him in for 2 years and then have to start looking for a QB again. It' better to find a one now below the age of 30. That's my opinion of course.

Totally respect your opinion, but I can't think of one example of how he has shown a lack of leadership or responsibility. Nor can I think of one example of him whining. I'd love to see him in a Bills uniform, then dump Trent; keep Fitz as the back-up for a year, while grooming Brohm (unless we draft a good QB). That's what many successful teams do.

And as far as age and best years behind him, check out Arizona and Minnesota. The formula worked out for them pretty well.

  11. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/th...-strep-throat/1

    Just saying.

May have been mentioned, but if it gets a thread when he does poorly, I think this deserves one too.

Remember when Michael Jordan won an NBA Championship with a severe case of the flu?

Or when Pete Sampras won a Grand Slam when he was so sick he had to get IV fluids between sets and take breaks to puke?

Or when Ronnie Lott continued to play after he ripped part of his finger off in a game?

The hobbled Kirk Gibson homer? Curt Schilling's bloody ankle?

When it's time to play, it's time to play. Especially with something huge on the line. This is nothing but a convenient excuse for sucking.
