  1. He would be fine with a 3 - 5 th round pick assuming we have drafted the LBs, OTs and DTs this team needs

Agreed. He played for Central Michigan, not USC. He's definitely a leader and has some tools, but nothing to overlook top D-1 talent for.

    How tall is he, anyway?

  2. Well, for one, I hope the whole Mayans being wrong theory isn't it. My birthday is 1/15, but I doubt they're going to celebrate it publicly.

But it is also MLK's birthday, so maybe they'll announce that they're hiring Dennis Green as the new H.C., or something!!

Seriously, though, unless Cowher (or any H.C., for that matter) already has his coordinators picked and hired, why would they wait until 1/15 to announce a coaching hire. Doesn't add up.

I think it's gotta be something to do with the future of the organization, ownership-wise.

At this point, won't we all take whatever good Bills news comes our way?!?!?

  3. "Worst team in the NFL." :wallbash:

Put down the (tail) pipe. Or find another team. For your sake/sanity.

Seriously. Either go out and buy a Brees, Manning, Favre, Brady, etc. jersey and jump on another team's bandwagon ... or just do what the rest of us do ... face the fact that you're a Bills fan and deal with it. It won't be this bad forever.

  4. Wonder how many were Rooneys that took place even though another coach was already chosen?

I did a little quick research and it looks like in 2008 he lost the Dolphins job to Sparano; and in 2009 he lost the Detroit job to Schwartz and the Rams job to Spagnuolo. He also lost out in Atlanta and Denver.

The only obvious Rooney Rule interview is Miami.

    Here's a link from Jan. 2009 ...

Speculating that no matter what happens with Dallas, Wade is sticking there. Says Billick is pushing real hard for the Bills gig.

I guess we could do worse, and if he brings a solid set of coordinators we should be playoff bound in 2 seasons.

The part of this post that stands out to me is "if he brings a solid set of coordinators." We all keep starting/responding to posts about who our next H.C. should be. And H.C. that can hire good coordinators is fine with me. Obviously, great coordinators would jump on Cowher's coattails in a heart beat. Would they for Billick? I'm thinking they might. That's the key, here ... how attractive are the coordinator positions going to be, what proven coordinators are looking for work ... or what former head coaches, who used to be good coordinators are looking for work? Hmmm ...

  6. Sorry, I gotta disagree

How you develop a young QB is everything, both Trent and JP showed great promise at certain points in time. I can recall post after post in 08, before game 5, on how Edwards looked like a young Joe Montana. Even alphapr!ck made an apology post because of his constant ridiculing of Edwards after he played so well in the season opener this year.

The problem with Jauron and Schonert is those two morons threw young inexperienced QB's into the fire and let them burn, they kept trying to force the QB to win games instead of making the run game work and allowing the QB to manage the game.

If anything sucked from day one it was the coaching, the offensive scheme, the play calling and the O line. The Bills haven't had a dominate running offense since Thurman Thomas played, even then the Bills ran more then they passed most every year.

No apologies, necessary! I can't disagree about the importance of developing young QBs. And I can't disagree that both Trent and JP showed great promise. But Coughlin threw Eli into the fire; Eli's brother got thrown into the fire; Roethlisberger did, and so did Phillip Rivers and Drew Brees. Some guys have it; some don't. JP and Trent didn't.

But you are correct. They weren't helped by any of the coaching or offensive schemes. I just don't think they could've been successful under any coaching/offensive schemes, unfortunately.

  7. My personal opinion is that Sam Wyche had a decent offensive mind and helped develop Boomer Easion into a top QB during his time. They started using the no huddle and had Boomer use a play called "sellout playaction" which they used very successfully.

Wyche started to develop JP Losman but was fired once Jauron took over, Turk the jerk is responsible for how JP and Edwards were ultimately developed.

First, let me preface this by saying that I truly believe that Sam Wyche was very good at what he did over his career, and I don't hold him solely responsible for not making J.P. successful.

But I guess that strengthens my point ... with the QBs we have on our roster, nobody could "develop" any of them into good QBs. As good of an O.C. and QB coach Cam Cameron has been, there is no hope for these guys on our roster. Turk stunk as an O.C., but it wasn't his fault JP and Trent sucked. They sucked because they were no good to begin with.

  8. Man crush ? Hardly ! What is of the most importance to me is a new Head coach stalking the Bills sideline that has rage induced spit fits , a scowl that would scare a charging Rhino and a HC that the players will FEAR as well as RESPECT ! I am in the process of raising 6 beautiful children and the BIG difference from my generation which was great and this generation is FEAR ! Kids nowadays have very little FEAR of their parents let alone any other authority . I (in a great and healthy way) feared and respected my parents ! That is what i want our players to do ! After watching a man on the sidelines the last few years with the emotions of a dull rock i am ready for the fire and brimstone tactic !

There is a big difference between respect and fear. The only thing they have in common is that you have neither on this board. From your postings, to your avatar, I truly feel sorry for those 6 kids.

  9. Did you even read my post about the Bills horrific offensive problems over the last ten years?

Then you state you would like Haslett as head coach because he is a person "who would bring an uncommon level of enthusiasm and appreciation for this position" . And you know this how?

Haslett would do no better then Dick Jauron IMO, no matter how much he likes Buffalo he doesn't know how to develop a QB.

Wasn't Sam Wyche, a proven success story at QB development, brought in at one time to do that? How'd that go?

It's not the head coach's job to develop QBs, and Cam Cameron is already employed as an O.C.

  10. No one knows whether either of them were offered ten million a year. Let's just get that out on the table right now. That number has been upchucked by the media and fans but that's as far as it goes.

As far as why the Bills would be spurned by a viable candidate? Three words: RALPH C WILSON. A really good coach would be justifiably reluctant at working for an owner who is clearly in the early-to-middle stages of age-related dementia. I mean, COME ON, can we just be honest about this? If you had options, would you CHOOSE to work for a guy who has Russ Brandon stick his head out the window once a week so he can figure out what flavor of **** sandwich he should feed his naïve fan base? Would you choose to work for a guy who had his lackey make a list of GM candidates, then throw it in the garbage because "we didn't really know those guys" and then pick between his two closest yes-men?

If you could pick, you would not choose to work for an impulsive senile person. You just wouldn't. And I predict that when Ralph goes you're going to hear stories that will make "The Madness of King George" sound like a fairy tale.

This is perfect. Sad, a little harsh, and 100% true. I'd like to see someone try to debate it.
