  1. Think the 87 draft had more to do with the super bowl teams than 85, though obviously both were important. Especially if you add that we got Bennett out of the 87 draft.
  2. Believe it or not, Harmon, not sure against who any more. Grabbed a ball thrown short with one hand, pulled it into his hip, and ran that way into the end zone (5 yards or so) runner up - Ferguson to Hooks, the catch before the hail mary against NE that Hooks also caught. (PS i posted this same topic a couple years ago)
  3. I was thinking th same thing...maybe even with pick # 251!
  4. Hope you are right, did not know that
  5. No force out - Love it, first rule in years that actually makes it tougher on the receiver no 5 yard face mask - hate it...oops, touched your face mask by mistake, might as well rip your head off now.
  6. Sounds a lot like when Dwight Freeney went against Bryant McKinnie in college, looked like boy against man. McKinnie has had a decent career (certainly better than another tackle drafted 4 picks earlier by the Bills) but Freeney has gone on to be dominant. Also had 2 sacks against Minnesota when going against McKinnie again in 2004.
  7. The leaague did not deam Whittle and Scobey as gains, thus the 2 comp picks
  8. 88 - Thurman Thomas was featured with a camera in his room...everyone passed on him in the first round (Bills did not have a first round pick), Bills finally picked him in the second. 89 - Jets draft Jeff Lageman with their first pick, Kiper says something to the extent of The Jets just don't understand what the draft is all about.
  9. Exactly...Washington and SF have shown that this is not the way to build a team
  10. Dropped a lot of balls during senior bowl practices, not terribly fast. Projected first round pick in August, now fifth by draftscout.com. Might be a late round steal a la Marcus Coleman http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=11489
  11. re the money - not sure that it would cost that much more to sign the # 2 pick than to sign the #12, 44, 108, &120something combined. If we were totally committed the cash to cap stuff, the FA's that have been sighned would have been signed to roster bonuses, not signing bonuses (ie the total hit would be this year) re the linebacker - like I said, would need to do some patch work this year...move a 240 lb Schoebel to LB, trade for the guy from Carolina, rely a little more on Wire than we would like, maybe Stamer steps up, whatever, this year would be a struggle but a good foundation for the next few years and some excitement this year. re the next guy who says I'm in never neverland - yeah, I know, this is the first time this has been anything but a dream. We were never going to get Conlan and Bennett in the same draft either.
  12. If Calvin Johnson is still there at #2 I'd swap spots and add the rest of our day 1 picks to get him. Worry about running back on day 2 or stand pat with A-train. Imanige Lee Evans and Johnson at WR. Might need to do a little patchwork on defense this year but would be a great WR combo for the next few years.
  13. Wish Janiikowsky was still there when the Bills picked, maybe we would have passed on Flowers!
  14. Good read, thanks
  15. I stand corrected, made the springtime in buffalo statement without doing my homework.
  16. I don't think Mr. Turner is going to be to impressed with springtime in Buffalo...
  17. Hope you are correct, but its pretty tough for someone who has always been in good shape to lose 19 lbs without some loss of strength. Not like he was lugging around a lot of fat at 262.
  18. Agree Schobel can disappear at times when taking on big o-linemen, his strength is as a speed rusher, not as a bull rusher. If he is "19 lbs faster" his speed rushing abilities will be even better. On the other hand, if he is just 19 lbs weaker it could be a problem.
  19. First I've heard of it. Been aroun a long time, here is a link to his NFL stats http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/12611
  20. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/foot...n.ap/index.html Apologies if this has been posted, didn't notice it. Anyways he might be annoncing college.
  21. The injury has of course cut short several careers. But Spikes is a monster, if he can recover from it Philly will get the better of the deal. Regarding the age, this is virtually irrelevant. Spikes is only 6 months older than Walker, who will be 30 before training camp. My only point is that we can't look at the past 2 years and say Walker will be the better player based on that. Hopefully both players will gel new environents, both seem like class guys
  22. Based on the last 2 years you are correct, Walker is the better player. Based on the two years before that, Spikes is by far the better player. We will only knowwho got the better of this deal after the next two years. Bills certainly got more of a known commodity, Eagles certainly got more potential. Disregarding of course the draft pick.
  23. Replay review is one position the Bills need to upgrade. Absolutely horrible since at least the Williams era. This can cost games, not only not reviewing plays that should be but also losing time outs reviewing plays that have no chance of overturn.
