  1. My god! Sell the team to LA or SA and let it end already. Short of that, we are in for a Detroit Lions type of decade on top of the decade we just lived through. It's just not worth it anymore from an emotional standpoint. End it like they ended the Xmas display in front of Main St's AM&As. End it like the Century Theater. End it like the Aud. End it like the Rockpile. End it like Twin Fair, like Hills, like Hengerer's. End it like Studio Arena. End it like Crystal Beach. They are a relic of the past and the money and time spent on them should be spent making the area a better place to live and not a reminder of what once was. There's GOT to be better things to do on a Sunday. If not, WNY is no better than what the rest of the US thinks. A backwards town with a backwards attitude and outlook. SAD!
  2. Look, it's just dumb. Spin it however you want. You take a guy that's probably going to be a top ten RB with just about any other team in the league and you trade him for a number four? This ownership and staff is simply out of it. Most top-tier NCAA teams are not run this badly. "Oh, we'll package that number four and get a number three out of it." What crap!! This will go down as one of the worst deals in Bills history. It will make a great combo with what will likely be one of the worst seasons in Bills history. I dont care if Johnny U and Jim Brown came to this team in their prime. They would stink. There is no O-line (and no desire to win) and therefore no offense and no winning. Rock bottom? Yeah, we're very close. I cant believe that the line for the JAX game is the Bills +1.5. My god, get ready to make a LOT of money. The Bills will be blown out. They are the WORST team in the NFL with no debate possible. Pay your mortgage and put it all on JAX. This one wont be close either.
  3. Too funny. My son got 1500 and that was back when he was in 7th grade!!
  4. We all need to remember that we're paying the third lowest ticket prices in the NFL to watch this junk, and that paying higher ticket prices does not guarantee a winner. So, considering that WNY almost has the economy of a third-world country, who's going to pay the higher ticket prices that are sure to come when the team is sold? I dont care if it's Jacobs, Rich, or anyone else with a "home-town connection." Prices are going up when RW passes. When that happens (and we're still losing), attendance will go way down and the team will eventually move. I'll root for them until their last game. However, I'll not pay for Sunday Ticket, I wont see them live, I wont buy any stuff with the logo on it, etc. The measure of a fan is not how much he spends on stuff. I love the team, but I will no longer financially support them in any way. Folks that continue to invest their money in them are questionably not of sound mind. People are actually buying season tickets because they're afraid the team will move? Wow! Talk about ways to throw your money away and receive no value in return.
  5. It's easy. The Bills leave and UB becomes a Div 1 Big East team with RWS becoming their home field. BUF is a college town anyway. If it wasn't for the Sabres, that's all we'd have. BUF is no longer a big-league town from either a population or business stand point, and the only alternative is for UB to step up. Of course there is no guarantee that the NCAA will do this, but if there is support (which I think there would be once the Bills leave) then I think they'll do it. BTW, I have no affiliation whatsoever with UB. This is simply my opinion on where things might go once the Bills leave. The Bills are leaving. It's just a matter of when. Would you spend over $800 million to keep them here? I sure as hell wouldn't and I dont think there is a sane businessman in the world that would.
  6. Man, it just never stops! People, it does NOT MATTER who the freaking QB (or WRs) is on this team. There is no OL! If you insist on making such a big deal about the QB, then it's obvious that we need a MAJOR scrambler like Tarkenton (in his day) or even Vick. No pocket-passer in the world can succeed behind this O-line and no decent WR is going to be able to get open when the QB has about 4 seconds to throw the ball before his next concussion. All pocket-passers fail miserably without an OL. It's not like our opponents dont know how to counter the quick-outs and the screen passes that they know we HAVE to throw to counter our non-existent OL. The only wildcard for the opposing D would be a scrambling QB who can throw on the run. We dont have one. Even a mediocre passer can get by if he has time to throw. The only reason Flutie succeeded here was his ability to scramble. We have not had an OL since the mid 90s and every QB from Bledsoe, to Losman, to Edwards has bombed here. Time to face up to it. You cant have a functioning (notice I didn't even say good) QB without a good OL. FYI, I still think Trent sucks. However, could the games at least be more interesting if he had an extra 2-3 seconds to throw? I think they would be.
  7. I gave up my season tix because of this. I could give a rats a** about home team fans giving crap to opponents decked out in jerseys. I just couldn't stomach my kid watching the (home team) loutish, drunken behavior. Puking, swearing, falling down, fighting, you name it and it goes on at RWS big-time. I've been to my share of NFL and MLB stadiums and there's nothing like Bills games anywhere else in pro sports. It's everything mentioned here; the economy, lousy or no jobs, no education, no future, etc. People get super-trashed for various reasons. There just sems to be a ton of them at Bills games. Buffalo never was a "classy" town, but on Sundays in OP, it denigrates into a thunderdome-like atmosphere of slobs and bums.
  8. You know things are bad when I actually start caring about what other teams are doing. I was born and raised in BUF and went to The Rockpile for games. So I'm an old-timer. I moved to Calif in the 80s. The Bills went to four SBs in the 90s and all of my Calif friends truly felt sorry for me. Then I moved back to BUF in 2001 and bought season tix. Now I'm in Raleigh and after over ten years of horrendous Bills football, I actually listened to the Panthers game on the radio while in the truck. I've been here almost four years and have NEVER followed Carolina. I'll never be out as a Bills fan, but apathy has sure set in. There HAS to be a veteran QB out there that can do *anything* with this team better than Trent and company.
  9. More high-larious posts. Does any one really believe that a single #1 pick is going to help this team? This team needs about 5 #1s to be competitive again. Might as well start with a QB and see what happens.
  10. Those people that "climb the fences" to get back in after a few wins will feel as stupid as they did a few years back when we went 5-1 to start the season and then we tanked and missed the playoffs. You either want to be there win or lose, or you dont. You can either afford it, or you cant. Waiting for a few wins to help make up your mind whether or not to go is pretty dumb. This just confirms my suspicions about how it's going to go down for this team. I'll repeat it for those that forgot or want to ignore the obvious... * RW passes on * Team goes to highest bidder * Team stays in WNY while new owner gets settled * New owner HAS to raise the price of everything to help pay the huge purchase price of the team * Tickets go up to NFL average, which very few in WNY can or will choose to afford * Team still sucks since new owner cant or wont pay for hot talent and no one that's any good will play, coach, or GM here anyway * Season ticket base and general attendance drops considerably. Higher prices, bad team, and consistently bad economy all contribute. * Owner threatens to leave without a new stadium, which will never get built * Attendance continues to drop, team continues to suck * Owner threatens to leave without X amount of season tickets and luxury boxes sold within the existing stadium * X amount of tickets and boxes are not sold * Team leaves If you want to refer to problems with the economy as part of the basis for lower season ticket sales, hold on to your hats. This economy is not getting better and that's in good, solid business communities. WNY is not a good, solid business community. WNY jobs will continue to dry up and wages will continue to go down. The team is not going to get better, prices are going to go up, and RW will not be around forever to subsidize ticket prices. Bills tickets prices are third lowest in the NFL and yet we still LOST %11 of our season ticket base? Flame away, but I truly believe this is the Bills future.
  11. OMG, you're kidding, right? This team is bad! Stinky bad. They look as bad if not worse than any Dick Jauron team. Give it up already. Be hopeful, but not blinded and stupid. Who are we going to beat? 09/12 MIAMI DOLPHINS 1:00 pm maybe 09/19 @ Green Bay Packers 1:00 pm no 09/26 @ New England Patriots 1:00 pm no 10/03 NEW YORK JETS 1:00 pm maybe 10/10 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 1:00 pm yes 10/17 BYE 10/24 @ Baltimore Ravens 1:00 pm no 10/31 @ Kansas City Chiefs 1:00 pm yes 11/07 CHICAGO BEARS (Toronto) 1:00 pm maybe 11/14 DETROIT LIONS 1:00 pm yes 11/21 @ Cincinnati Bengals 1:00 pm no 11/28 PITTSBURGH STEELERS 1:00 pm no 12/05 @ Minnesota Vikings 1:00 pm no 12/12 CLEVELAND BROWNS 1:00 pm yes 12/19 @ Miami Dolphins 1:00 pm no 12/26 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 1:00 pm no 01/02 @ New York Jets 1:00 pm no 7-9 best case - 5-11 more likely Let me give you a story about a team that has been bad for over 10 yrs. It's called the Buffalo Bills. They suck. Get ready for another year of being out of the mix by week 10 at the latest. There is nothing good about this team, except our RBs. How many SBs have we won? ZERO! Think a few good RBs and a new coach and GM are going to get it done? This team does NOT have searing focus, fundamentals, swagger, team unity or proper coaching. CG has no sustained winning track record in either the NFL or NCAA. Do you really think he's any good? No one of any real talent wants to play, coach, or GM here. Let's hope for success, but let's not be stupid about it. This is not a good team and there will be no playoffs AGAIN this year.
  12. Ok, skip it then. How about grading the Bills performances over the past 10 years? You have a lot more data to work with. They get a D+ from me. Actually these players grades are more in line with about a C-. So in fact they are not a waste of time. They are pretty much spot-on for a team that will be lucky to win 5 games this season.
  13. +1 Much better ways to spend the time. The Bills are pretty hapless. They tend to be out of contention by week 10. Not much reason to watch after they bow out. It's wasted money, but more importantly wasted time. When you get to my age (50), you start using both time and money more wisely. Watching this train wreck of a team is just not my idea of a fun or productive Sunday. If they somehow make the playoffs (LOL), I see it for free and they'll have my undivided attention. They have to start winning again to get me to invest any time or money on them. "Watch" is a subjective term. I have a blazing fast internet connection and I tried watching some games last year. It's a joke. Remember when you'd try to watch porn on a scrambled cable channel? It's almost that bad.
  14. Edwards is a wash-out. Should fans heckle him at practice? Probably not. If he's *ever* going to get better, we have to give him some space at practice. But I wont go as far as supporting him simply because he's on our team. It's nice that CG is backing him. However, it wont make a lick of difference on the field. He's a third-stringer on most teams. Buffalo Bills = preparing for a sale of the team, not for the playoffs
  15. Sounds like people are finally realizing that this team is being setup for a sale and not for a playoff run. The argument that you dont invest much money in something that you fully intend to sell is right on. The real discussion should be about what happens after a sale. I still argue that no business people in their right mind (local or not) will invest over $900 million in WNY at an avg of ~$55 a ticket. The team will be sold and will operate in WNY for about 3-5 years afterwards. In that time prices (on everything) will skyrocket, the team will continue to lose, the fan base will diminish, and the team will move.
  16. Bad attitudes and bad coverage are the result of the lack of competition in sports radio. Most small-medium markets only have one dedicated sports talk station. So if you want to hear *anything* about your local sports scene, you have no choice but to tune into them. They know it and they're not scared. They are a monopoly. Simon might get a talking to about keeping some things to himself, but Simon, Schoop, Bulldog, aren't going anywhere, so you might as well just live with it. I'm in Raleigh and we have an ESPN sports radio station with local coverage. For the most part, the guys here are pretty good. They are obviously fixated on college BBall, but they do a good job covering Hurricanes hockey. Sometimes they have attitude, but nothing like the Buffalo radio guys.
  17. OMG. You're kidding, right? This team blows. I didn't need last night's laugh fest to convince me. WE HAVE NO OFFENSE and our defense is suspect. What does it take to get you rose-colored-glasses people to get it once and for all? We are the new Detroit Lions. We suck, we have sucked, and we will continue to suck until RW passes and the team leaves Buffalo. Give it up already and latch on to another team. This one has had it!
  18. Man, you really are a tool. The players say it, so that makes it true? What player, coach, owner, team janitor, etc is going to say ANYTHING negative? Even when they suck, the team stakeholders make up some crap about this or that to explain away the crappy performance/season. Chan Gailey is not a proven, year after year winner. He's been fired more times than he's won anything of importance. This coaching group has absolutely no past record or credibility coaching THIS team. This team still has no QB and no OL. They will be beyond boring to watch. The defense will win them some games, but the offense wont. This is not a 1-15, 2-14 team. I'll stick with 5-11.
  19. The "joke" and "embarrassment" is this football team. Everyone has a right to be overly optimistic or pessimistic about their potential. My "early prediction" last year was spot-on, so I feel that I can speak intelligently about their chances this year. I wont bother going into specifics, but from a purely football talent perspective, the team simply has not improved. If they do end up with a better record, great. I'm just not expecting much after being disappointed year after year for over a decade. Regardless of their record, they are not a playoff-bound team and that's all that really matters.
  20. I went to games at the Rockpile, so none of this "non-fan" baloney. I dont get hung up on this player sucks or this coach sucks kind of stuff. It's a team effort whether you win or lose. Last year I was spot on with a 6-10 prediction. This year I predict 5-11. There will be no improvement, especially on offense. You dont need to be an insider, a former player, or a former coach to figure this team out. We suck. We have sucked, and we will continue to suck. Then RW will pass on and the team will leave. It's all pretty straightforward.
  21. I'm pulling for them all the way. This all started with me stating that I think they are the future of football in Buffalo. I'm a fan. Go Bulls!
  22. I've been watching UB since the 60s. One good season does not make up for decades of utter futility. '08 was fun, but UB is still pretty bad.
  23. Yes, it's a pipe dream now, but mainly because of the Bills. I'm sure that the politicos, UB alumni, and the Big East would get behind an effort to make UB a Div 1a program if the Bills were to leave. UB has problems filling a 30k stadium because they suck (no offense) and because of the Bills. If they go to Div 1a, they will attract much better quality players. If they can avg ~50k a game, that would keep RWS generating money and keep it from being a huge drain as a empty building. If the Bills are gone, do you think UB would have a hard time selling 50k tickets in Div 1a? I dont, since most people go to RWS for the party and not for quality football.
  24. The future of football in WNY does not lie with the Bills. A new stadium for them is simply not in the cards and we should get off that topic. NY only builds new stadiums for NYC, not for Buffalo. No one with enough money is going to build a privately-financed stadium in a depressed area of the country that has no real hopes for recovery. Let's talk about a more realistic future. The Bills leave at some point soon (foregone in my opinion), UB enters the Big East, and RWS stadium becomes home to a Division I-A college team with built-in rivalries with Syracuse and Pitt. Dont bother replying that we have the best fans that fill the stadium week after week, blah, blah. A $52 avg ticket price is not going to keep them here. Only big business and corporate money will do it. Things that Buffalo lacks and is not going to obtain.
