  1. I'm sticking with my 6-10 prediction until they win game 7. After that, I'll admit I was wrong. Great game though and they have a shot if they can stay healthy.
  2. WRONG! Jags sold out in time. Game to be televised... http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6948457/jacksonville-jaguars-sell-enough-tickets-black-opener-vs-tennessee-titans
  3. I agree with 6-10 IF we stay healthy. Since the team's conditioning has been an issue for many years, I'd say 5-11 is probably more realistic, especially after we lose a few close games and the team folds like they always do. 8-8 only happens if we stay healthy and other teams do not. The folks that predict 9-7 are high. Here's four samplings of what the pundits say. But I'm sure someone will pipe up that none of these nationally recognized organizations know squat about football, blah blah. ESPN - 31st Sporting News -31st Fox Sports - 32nd CBS Sports - 32nd FWIW, my picks 09/11 @ Kansas City Chiefs L 09/18 Oakland Raiders W 09/25 New England Patriots L 10/02 @ Cincinnati Bengals W 10/9 Philadelphia Eagles L 10/16 @ New York Giants L 10/30 Washington Redskins (Tor) W 11/06 New York Jets L 11/13 @ Dallas Cowboys W 11/20 @ Miami Dolphins W 11/27 @ New York Jets L 12/04 Tennessee Titans L 12/11 @ San Diego Chargers L 12/18 Miami Dolphins W 12/24 Denver Broncos L 1/01 @ New England Patriots L
  4. sorry, forgot to give you that projection. put all your money on the Bills to win the SB this year. Duh. eye roll
  5. Every win (projected to be about 6 this season) will result in folks like yourself asking why isn't everyone thrilled that we made a decent showing in a win. Of course the answer is obvious. A decade+ of losing has certain repercussions and the lack of interest in the team (even when they occasionally win) is one of them. Here's what will re-energize my interest... 1) If they roll off a four-five game win streak in the regular season 2) If they go over 500 3) If they challenge for a playoff spot 4) If they get a playoff spot It's a 16 game season. If they intersperse 6 wins over 16 games, folks like you will be posting throughout the season about how maybe we have a chance and wasn't that a great win the other day, blah, blah, blah (roll eyes). I'm a fan if they win or lose. However, it's not realistic to expect a lot of people to get excited over the occasional win. It's going to take a lot more than that to get many people excited about this team again. Of course there are the die hards who refuse to except the fact that our beloved Bills are now the league laughingstock. That's fine. We all support the team in different ways.
  6. Just about everyone (on this board and the pundits) agree that the Bills are good for about 5-6 wins this year. After each win, folks like yourself will post all kinds of optimistic viewpoints about how a particular win could be the turning point of the season. This is a broken record that has been playing for many years now. There's really good reasons why there is heavy doom and gloom on this board. The owner does nothing to put us in a position to win, and in fact he's now moved on to actually making the team worse than it already was. We all love the Bills. However, the team will not improve until there is new ownership and even then there's no guarantee that we wont get another RW type owner who just wants to milk the local population without ever seriously trying to field a winner. I'm not trolling and I'm not trying to be a jerk. There's enough smart people around who know that this team is not a winner yet again and that it's highly unlikely that anything substantial will change next year either.
  7. Ralph bought the team during a very different era. Buffalo was a hot town in the 60s and early 70s. You're making an assumption that if Ralph didn't do it, that no one ever would have. While I think that may be somewhat true, it will never be known for sure. He more than got what he needed/wanted out of it and we as a town and fans got what we needed/wanted (for the most part). The Bills could be part of the reason the City is looked down upon and that Buffaloians are considered losers. I never thought Pittsburgh was much of a city, but look at what championship teams have done for them. People (and more importantly businesses) want to be associated with winners and often that's equated to successful sports teams. Would we have been better off without the Bills? Perhaps. Maybe we would have become a major NCAA region (like Carolina) and we would have reaped the benefits of a larger college presence with the corporations that go along with it. Of course this assumes that the State of NY was not run by a bunch of union thugs and political criminals. After all is said and done, the Bills really did not make much of a difference to the long-term viability of the region. They attracted nothing of any real long-term value. I think that's the saddest part of all.
  8. Grow up skippy. I'm 51 and have seen games at the Rockpile. I dont need any punk who ate a big lunch to lecture me. We suck, we have sucked, and we will continue to suck until there is a change at the top. Four Super Bowl trips mean NOTHING. You got to win. Obviously, you're ok with second best, I'm not. blah, blah, blah, punk.
  9. Here's a good one. The other day Colin Cowturd from ESPN radio was running down a one-sentence comment on each NFL team. When he got to the Bills he said... "Just move already" He basically said the same thing about JAX. We will again be bad this year. I'm not going to go on a Ralph rant, but I dont see any turn around for this franchise until it's owned by someone else. Ralph may not be the cheapskate a lot of people think he is, but in the words of George Costanza to Steinbrenner.... "I find it very hard to see the logic behind some of the moves you have made with this fine organization. In the past ten years, you have caused myself, and the city of Buffalo, a good deal of distress as we have watched you take our beloved Bills and reduced them to a laughing stock, all for the glorification of your massive ego." Sorry Ralph. It had to be said.
  10. Look. We still suck. Maybe we'll go 8-8 with the projected lineup. This team is still a few yrs away from making a run. If there's football, buy your season tix if you're hard-core and enjoy yourself if you can. Otherwise, get ready to work on your yard this fall and dont worry about the NFL. I think the best thing that can happen to the Bills is for the 2011 season to go bye-bye. In the meantime, enjoy the Sabres first-round exit and save your money. NY State is going to want a lot of more of it to pay for those ever-increasing public employees union benefits. Man I love living in a right to work state. Best thing I ever did was leave NY.
  11. No problem. Now I dont have to watch 10 mins of the Bills only to turn it off and mow the lawn. Now I can just mow the lawn. Win/win for me.
  12. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81e0843e/article/suspended-alosi-resigns-from-coaching-position-with-jets?module=HP_headlines2col Good riddance-punk
  13. The Sabres are awful and are likely to miss the playoffs. I cant imagine that you couldn't get tickets from someone in the street for $10. There's tickets at the box office too. It just depends on if you're going to a platinum or gold game in terms of cost.
  14. I'll put the whole Marv Levy discussion to bed right now. If Marv had won even one Super Bowl, NO ONE would be saying ANYTHING negative about him. If he had won just one SB, no one would have cared if he came back and managed an 0-16 season. If he had won just one SB, he would be elevated to Father Baker status in town. Kinda dumb to drag him in on this. RW killed the team, plain and simple. He made inept FO moves and its cost us ever since.
  15. Wow! I'll take a hit of whatever it is you're smoking.
  16. http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/news/2011/01/06/bills-attendance-lowest-since-1987.html Make of it what you will.
  17. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2010/12/jets-increase-sal-alosi-suspension-say-coach-more-culpable/1
  18. +1 on Emeril's Stadium. Good food and couches to watch the games on. However, if you want to sit in the "lower bowl" it's a $50 (or $100 cant remember) per person minimum. Best to find a table on the rail, but you'll have to get there early.
  19. What's ponderous about it? Those teams have stable ownership that's not on the verge of dying and selling the team to the highest bidder. Wilson could make a bunch of moves to ensure the team stays after his death, but he refuses to do it. That makes the Bills prime candidates to move after his death. Maybe there's a back-door deal in the works, but I simply cant imagine anyone investing $800 million for a team that cant sell out every game with one of the lowest avg ticket prices in the league. Obviously there's teams in all sports with attendance and performance issues and the Bills have both. See the link that shows the Bills are 28th in average home attendance so far this year and it aint going to get any better. This team is in big trouble on all fronts. BTW, the Bucs are 31st and CIN 16th. While there's countless talk on the web of the Bills leaving, there's practically no talk about either CIN or TB possibly leaving. There's nothing to ponder here. You've been on the board long enough. I'm surprised you'd make a comment like this. http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance/_/sort/homePct'>http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance/_/sort/homePct Sorry, check that. The Bills are 24th in avg home attendance. Still not good and the people on this thread seem to think we have good attendance. We dont.
  20. You're going to BC and you really want to spend 3+ hrs watching the Bills? Man, I dont get that at all. I'd rather spend the day in the RCMP museum than watch this mess of a team. PLEASE find something (ANYTHING) else to do. Pulling crab grass is better. Doing my neighbors fat wife would be better. I simply cant think of a better way to totally blow 3+ hrs of my life. I dont care if they win by 21 points. The season is gone and rooting for this abortion of a team cannot be anyone's idea of time well spent. Think it over bro. As they say in the Indian Jones movie..."You have chosen...poorly."
  21. So what are you trying to say? That the team WONT be sold to the highest bidder? That somehow, someway, the Bills will fall into friendly hands that will keep them in WNY indefinitely? I think that's naive. The NFL will not let the team go for any type of bargain price, just to keep them in a certain town or to have a particular owner. NFL owners have a well-documented history of making sure that they get every penny for a franchise and that no short-sale deals are made regardless of the circumstances. It's likely true that some type of out-of-the-media discussions have taken place. However, you cant make any assumptions about a deal already being in place. I'm sure there isn't one. RW is not just throwing fate to the wind. I'm positive that the process is in place for dealing with RWs estate (the Bills and all) after his demise. I dont see the future ownership of the Bills keeping them here long-term. A Bills move will not take place the season after RW passes, but I dont see the NFL in Buffalo long-term.
  22. RW IS purposely fielding a crappy tram and has been for years. He wants none of the blame when they leave, whether he is dead or alive to witness the fallout. The team is being positioned for a sale and not to become a winner. Also, cheap is a relative term. The team used to be worth over $900 million. Now they are worth over $800 million. Do you really think RWs family is worried about making $100 million less profit on a $50k investment? Of course the team is history in BUF. I've been saying it for three years now. If they do win a game this year it will be a fluke and not some organizational genius that somehow shone through. For the first time in my life, I bet against BUF today and won. I could never bring myself to do that before. However, this team is the train-wreck of the NFL. If they are ever in a less-than-double-digit spread, bet against them every time. You will make money.
  23. please shut up. there's nothing positive to say. the team is dreadful and may not get a single win this year.
