  1. This does not apply to anyone outside fifty miles of Orchard Park. If you are one of those people who goes on these boards and writes about how bad we are and how you are not renewing your season tickets because the Bills have been so mediocre, you are a complete idiot. We are extremely lucky to have the Bills here when you consider the lack of large business, moderate average household income, and diminishing demographics. If you are having financial difficulties or you have family/kid things you are doing during those Sundays it is ok not to renew. Besides that, shut the !@# up and appreciate what you have because if you are reading this, you are a diehard and if you are a diehard you should support your team and not brag about not supporting it. How easy would it be for the Bills to leave Buffalo? Pretty darn easy and then where are you? "Oh I'll be just fine." "i don't need football in Buffalo". Yeah right. Negativity is not a problem as long as you can back up your points, but don't brag about how you are not renewing your tickets because we are extremely lucky to have them here.
  2. Thanks. Any update on Eric Wood? It appears you think highly of him.
  3. Not that Jason Peters was lazy all the time because he was pretty good, but anyone who remotely comes close to lazy is someone we don't need while rebuilding. Also, we pulled the trigger on two linemen a couple of years ago and one is a second stringer in the same place we got him from and the other has not been picked up by a team from what I understand. I would rather not be so entertained with quick blogs and twitters showing what we did than actually have a good team during the season when it counts.
  4. I can still picture the days of Losman throwing the long ball and that was about it really. The long balls and the dump offs are the easy one. The mid range twenty yard outs and ten yard hooks and those kind of passes between the levels are the difficult ones. I am not saying that the long ball is important because just doing it, even when it is incomplete, at least shows the defense that you are willing. The long ball is more about confidence that accuracy. The receivers have more room for adjustment.
  5. Its tough being a NFL journalist this time of year. Anything that can catch peoples eye is what their bosses are looking for them to publish. How ridiculous is a power ranking now? I feel pretty confident that the Saints weren't at the top last year. I don't want to assume you are one of those insecure Buffalo guys that gets upset when their team gets a bad rap from the national media. Its been snowing in Buffalo during the winter for thousands of years and its going to continue to snow after you and I are gone and the Bills may get bad press until they do something about it. I would suggest not letting it bother you until it really matters.
  6. Ryan lets his defensive players play full throttle without having to over think themselves. This approach can be taken advantage of sometimes but not so much if they have talent which they do. I have no problem with Gailey because he has a pretty good resume, but Schottenheimer was my guy. He respects his own weaknesses and doesn't let other teams exploit them. I think the Bills game in the Meadowlands where they threw so many interceptions was a turning point for them. Schott and Ryan knew they had the defense to beat anyone, they just could not beat themselves with turnovers. Sanchez rarely threw more than twenty balls a game after that. I would be happy with a split this coming year.
  7. How can our offense exploit their defense? Two very strong one-on-one corners and a first round pick that was the best cover corner drafted. They put these guys on an island and put nine in the box. Running against nine in the box is tough and passing against their corners might be pretty tough too. Good special teams coach and special teams in general. Good offensive line. Addition of Holmes adds speed to receiving corp. I don't want to roll over here by any means but man they look tough.
  8. Nix and Chainey have to be accountable to this draft which is their very first draft. On a team like the Bills which is goiing to "build through the draft" solely, there is no room for error. Their fingerprints are all over this draft, which might end up being great, but they will be held fully accountable for this.
  9. The networks know that college football rating go up when the SEC, Big 12 and Big 10 are up and to some degree the Pac 10 with USC. The best players and the best games come within these conferences and even when a low end team like, for example, Indiana, Vanderbilt, or Baylor is playing; you will see some degree of talented football (Indiana may be a stretch). I am not trying to criticize the draft choices but facts are facts with respect to small school and weaker conferences. They are second tier high school recruits and don't see the consistent competition week after week opposed to Tennessee for example or Auburn where it is tough every week. I have to question a second team all conference as our second round pick no matter who he is based on his conference. If we did not already know who he was and we were to compared him to a second team SEC, who would we assume had more talent. Troy, Arkansas State, South Dakota State, a UConn player who did not start at the beginning of the season and would up having a good year, Central Florida are not major teams even in their conference. Five out of seven rounds are small school players. This tells me it is either feast or famine with this. Our scouts really watched what they were doing and really did their research or they completely overthought their picks and missed the boat completely. Jerry Rice, Andre Reed, Phil Hansen and others I am sure have come from the 'other' schools and have been pretty darn good, but it seems to be more exception than rule. I am not saying the guys from the smaller schools aren't as good because they may have more heart and focus but the degree to which they will have to step up to the competitive level in professional football will be greater than the players from the larger conferences.
  10. This is beyond idiotic. Change your name.
  11. Your posts and 'add replys' have a high degree of optimism. Edwards and Fitz have given everything they have had to start and Bills fans and coaches know exactly what they can do. Brohm has not had that same opportunity, at least in Buffalo, so he deserves a chance because we know the least about him. However, he better understand that the hook is going to be pretty quick.
  12. This behavior is not the kind of thing Bud Adams looks favorably upon. We're talking about a great back who is extremely dangerous and the combination of him and Young is very scary for defensive coordinators, but I think that he the Titans would rather trade for a Lynch (as an example) who is not as good but good enough opposed to bowing down to a guy who has repeatedly not shown he is a team player.
  13. thank you for the post. I may be reading too much into it, but it appears as though he is glad to be drafted and such but football is not his full passion. This is not to say that he is not passionate, but to go through the physical and mental pain of a professional quarterback, you better be sure it is something that you want to do full throttle or you are just not going to make it. He seems like he could be one of those guys.
  14. Hope you did not spend too much time on this.
  15. I am assuming that Chan Gailey is a better offensive coordinator than Alex Van Pelt which is a safe assumption coming from a guy who took his teams to the playoffs with Kordell Stewart and Quincy Carter as quarterback. Ignorance is bliss at this point for mostly everybody but Spiller is someone that coordinators have to watch.
  16. I look at a weapon as an offensive ball handler who can beat another guy one on one on almost every occasion. With Spiller being able to got the distance with his speed and his elusiveness, the Bills are not without weapons relative to speed and quickness. Jackson and Lynch are great backs and when you running dives or sweeps or end arounds and the defense does not know which of the three is coming, defending either of those and a possible pass is really tough. Our line is better built for running and it looks like we need to have that be our focus the way the Jets did during the final run of the season last year and the trickle down effect can be pretty positive.
  17. Alot of his stuff is on a positive slant but his game day blogs have been fairly critical. The Tennessee game in particular was especially harsh and it should have been because the Bills had a bad day. He is better than you give him credit for and you should congratulate yourself on how many people have looked at this and commented which is basically what you criticize him for.
  18. Morning has broken -- Neil
  19. During the super bowl years, the Bills continuously drafted at the bottom and sometimes not at all in the first round and won by drafting good players. I understand what you are saying by hitting rock bottom and going up from there, but you are not giving any accoutability to the entire scouting department.
  20. Besides his impressive resume which includes many pro bowls, he would be a seasoned veteran on a team with mostly young lineman. His skill set would not 'take a spot' away from another player on the team and his leadership and understanding of the game could help. This should be moving forward.
  21. I think the first three picks bettered the team and the Iowa tackle who I guess is being positioned at guard and Wang should add depth at a need area. However, when questioned about Seattle enquiring about Lynch for a fourth round pick, I have a problem with that. I like Lynch alot. I can still picture the crazy touchdown run after he caught the screen pass on Monday night vs. the Browns and the way he fought for the two point conversion his rookie year against Miami to win the game. He is a good back and there is no question in my mind about that. But if you were to chart in order the best Bills on the team beginning with their importance, you would have to put Jackson, Spiller, Byrd, Lynch and Poz in any order but for sure in the top twelve. This leaves three of your best players that you can put on the field coming from one position which is a position that you can, usually, have only have two on the field at once. We can't get the best players all on the field at once which is what you want to do. He hasn't come to the workouts. We haven't heard a word from him and probably won't and he is third on the depth chart where we have other positional needs. I don't want to give him away, but we could have gotten something for him.
  22. A big part of his rebuilding is getting rid of old baggage which hasn't really happened yet, but there is still time.
  23. Not taking many plays off at that weight and that position may be of value especially when you know Brady is going to try and take advantage of the situational out-of-shape guy. Gotta say this though: Second team and not first team in a average conference. Hope I'm missing something.
