Until there is a mathematical reason to rule our team out, why wouldn't any real Bills fan who is secure enough in who they are think and hope that this team can't do something. To assume that they are trying to win a superbowl this year may be a bit far-fetched but they can beat the stuff out of some of the teams along the way and maybe do something to build for the future. Edwards was a weak player in a very important position and he is gone which is the perfect example of addition by subtraction. Fitz may not be the answer long term but he really isn't bad and has the sense to win. I am tired of being negative and I am at a point where i understand they are probably going to lose more games than win, but i am not going to assume that and I am going to go into each game hoping they win and if they don't they physically beat the heck out of somebody. A team without fear can be pretty dangerous and the pressure is on the Jets. They are the intimidators and the Patriots own us, which is tough to argue and the fish played just a little better than we did. It tough to invest your emotions in something that can ultimately fail, but the majority of people on these boards remember the Mondays following the four Sundays that we won't mention. Those Monday weren't much fun and if you can handle that, this season may be nothing.

The guy just got cut when he said what he said and who would have not been angry. All signs and the media were telling him and the rest of Bills nation that either Fitz or Brohm were going to be cut because why would you cut a qb who got very little opportunity to prove himself and may have more potential than the bottom two? Give him an opportunity to vent a little bit. There are enough Bills stories out there to find.

I personally think it was the right move to let Edwards go, but from what I gathered, the other players had to hear it on the radio or espn. It may have made some sense immediately after the fact as there are things that need to be done and papers that need to be signed. It has to be really unsettling for the rest of the team, however. This was your starting qb through the preseason and the first couple of games and he was gun shy, mistake prone, and terrible but he was an elected captain too. Any player that really feels like they don't understand is really facing their own mortality as a football players because the writing was on the wall, but I think it would be in the best interest for Chan if he had some sort of players meeting to discuss this release and the reasons why. We don't need a bunch of individuals who are insecure about their jobs as much as we need a team that can come together and rally around Fitz. Hopefully, they will anyway, but it just seems like it might be a time to discuss what your are doing as a group, what the expectations are, and what will happen if the expectations aren't met.

How can this be a bad day
Logical Reasoning replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is because no one wanted to see him play again including the players. I don't care what other people think. This move had to be made. -
I understand the medias desire to find fault with the team and management and they should be held accountable to the fact that he did win the starting job, but dumping was a proactive move that had to be made. We can fault them all we want for having him start, but when they have the guts to basically admit that they made a mistake and then correct it, you have to actually give them credit. I supported Edwards through the whole process but when you throw ten yard hook patterns on your own twenty with twenty-nine seconds left and no timeouts and the out of bounds run on the fourth down which he may never live down, what kind of confidence is the team (forget the fans) going to have. I never wanted to see him again because I know exactly what I am getting and I actually knew it after the Dansby sack on the third play. There are many other reasons for why they should have let him go and we can compete in this forum for the best reason, but who wouldn't rather see Brown back and at least given a shot to understand our offense opposed to an Edwards who no one wanted to see play. The media has felt an urgency to criticize and there have been reason for sure, but this is a move in the right direction of this team at this time. We need winning with an attitude and Edwards was far from that.

Either playoffs or no playoffs
Logical Reasoning replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ADD moment. -
With the redesign of the both the offense and the defense, the showcasing of Lynch, and the the strength of the three other teams in our division; the playoffs don't look particularly promising. I would say Edwards is a good third string qb on most teams. He knows our offense and Gailey, but the players know him too and probably be disappointed to see him come in if Fitz got injured. He will not be here next year and the coaches probably have him third on the depth chart. Would it be wise to cut him and see if you could get Brown back. He looked bad against the Lions, but he is a rookie and we know how limited his snaps were in camp. If we are going after a Mallet, Locker, or Luck next year; shouldn't we give him a spot to at least see his potential in practice vs. a guy who no one wants to see play for the Bills again including the players? If you aren't going to make the playoffs, why not? Not to be overly negative but if you take Spiller out of the equation and give Moats some credit for a block in the Spiller touchdown, our second, third, fourth, fifth, six, and both seventh round picks did not play yesterday.

There are some things that a are certain from what I understand this week. Center, two guards, two tackles, Fitz and Evans on each offensive play. That leaves a combination of four offensive players or combos. If you add a te or McIntyre who is a very strong run blocker, you have three. Fred Jackson is very talented, quick, can stop on a dime. Marshawn Lynch is a hard runner, ok in the open field CJ Spiller is very fast, quick and very dangerous in open space. Roscoe is incredibly quick and accelerates very fast but not very fast Steve Jonhson hasn't done anything yet but all he has to do is be good enough to keep a defensive back on him and prevent the dbs from cheating on the screens. We've heard about packages during ota's and Jackson getting hurt and disrupting the three-headed monster scenerio in the preseason. Whether you run the wildcat, option, or whatever. Get the best eleven players on the field. (patent pending) Would someone from the Bills please print this out and put it in the suggestion box outside of coach Gailey's office?

However bad the Bills have looked offensively, defensively or special teams wise; the fact is that they are 0 and 2. Newsflash. The Pack are going places this year especially if the Vikes maintain their struggles. There is not an offense that is better and their defense is very strong. The fish beat the Vikes in Minn and they look strong enough to be a playoff team. Our team has not looked good on offense and the qb, who looked fine in the preseason and has not had alot of time to throw the ball looked ridiculously uncompetitive during the last drive against the fish and the fourth down out of bounds run. They are making a change and trying to spark something from what they have on the field. I don't see this as a bad thing. It should not matter how talented you are, those two things that Edwards did should have moved him down the depth chart. Is it Gaileys fault that watching Orakpo, Matthews, the linebacker from the Texans and many others reminds us of the incompetence of specifically Aaron Maybin and the other first round flops? It shouldn't. He wasn't here. I am disappointed and as sick as anyone and evolving as a fan toward more apathy than anger at this point, but the Bills were not as good at 2 and 0 two years ago as they may have looked and they are not as bad at 0 and 2.

On the next play he stopped a blitzing linebacker and you can see his hand was hurting. Pretty tought
-
He better get to the film room and Chad Jackson should pay attention to the coach when he misses the hot route. Evans also could have come back to the ball a bit harder. Kind of all over the place here and beer can only be so strong.

Good points.

Jason Peters & Bobby April
Logical Reasoning replied to bartshan-83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bobby April deserved/earned the right to be the head coach last year. Our special teams were among the best for many years and he had the intensity to maintain the group. I don't think much could have changed what the final record was but he earned the shot more than anyone else. -
My Camp Report for Tuesday 8/10
Logical Reasoning replied to FutureBillsGM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Brown and Edwards, who seems to be the best qb, are going to both make the team; play Fitz and Brohm and let them battle it out for the next two weeks. Cut the worst out of the two so that the winner of the competition can get more reps. Why delay the inevitable. -
The obvious answer to this question would be Maybin but he is still young and I am not sure if he has the ability at this point to be a difference maker, but the problem that has been most notable during the last five plus year's stretch is that no one with maybe the exception of a Kyle Williams, Jackson, or Evans has played better than the spot that they were drafted. The overall treatment of the Buffalo Bills as a stop-gap to get paid and then move on to a winner when the contract runs out. This was obvious for Peters, Dockery, Walker, McGahee and some others. What we need are players to step up and play football outside of the business. Dwan Edwards for one can make a huge impact if he plays better and the partnership-depth with Carrington can work. Same thing goes with Nelson whose blocking skills make him more of a wr than a tight end. Gailey is running a camp the way it is supposed to be run and we are giving him credit like the second coming because they are wearing pads and they are working on fundamentals. Football is played in pads. You don't practice swimming on a track and you don't practice lacrosse without sticks. He needs to find a way to make guys like Nelson block well when he stinks at it and guys like Dwan Edwards play their buts off to make it easy on the linebackers. The Bills have talent, the issue is allowing it to come out.

Interesting Stat of the Day

That stat may hold true tomorrow as well. -
Cornell Green on his way to the locker room

Getting nicked up does not warrant such a post. Those braces they are required to wear work pretty well. -
Chris Carter vs. Andre Reed
Logical Reasoning replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Carter was great and deserves to be there but Reed was better and it is not the home cookin'. -
Without looking at stats or excel spreadsheets that would show who was better mathematically, Reed was the better receiver. His catches over the middle, his ability to get open, and his run after the catch were up with (but not better than) Rice. Neither Kelly nor Thomas would have had the careers they did without Reed. Who can forget in the Cleveland playoff game, when he took a simple hook, made someone miss, and ran seventy plus yards for a touchdown. This is not to say that Carter should not be in but Reed should have been in before him. I can see where the voters would not have wanted to put three Bills in last year, but it should have had no impact on this year for Andre.

Nice and well done.

Respectfully disagree. They are sports radio. They report Buffalo sports. They purposely choose not to discuss anything related to UB even when they won their conference in football, the tangents that they go off on are ridiculous. They are a perfect example of a business that has become satisfied because they think they are the only show in town.
-
That is a great point. It really seems like they don't like their job almost like they don't want to be there. 1230 is somewhat new and it is better at this point.

Sunday Practice, O-line, D-line drills
Logical Reasoning replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the hole he creates opens up a draw or screen. Eventually he will have to run through someone. -
Spiller was picked at nine and the draft choices around him are getting signed but he is the first running back and it is interesting that the chargers haven't signed their guy either. It is not only where you are but the position you play too I guess. He is going to be pretty good. If you over pay a bit now before Johnson is signed and Spiller becomes similar in style and production (very high hopes) you automatically have a great deal.
