And yet Best didn't have to displace Fred Jackson to get a starting job
-
Trent was a sure fire probowl hall of famer!!!!...or....maybe you were wrong to support him so long because he sucks and always sucked whether he was drafted by the Bills and given every opportunity to start for 4 years or was drafted by some other team!!!
-
Hate to split hairs on this too but 4.39 for Easley vs 4.46 for Jones is a significant difference.
-
Derrrr. I meant Johnson. LOL. Looking GOOD!!! Finally a ray of hope on offense this preaseason!
-
Just kidding. Good drive for Easley and he got our first first string TD of the season. I was waiting for this last year. The kid needs to stay healthy. I wonder how it will turn out this year with Jackson assume-ably getting double coverage every down. Maybe we can trade him for a 4th round pick because he can't get open and his stats trailed off.

Buffalo Bills fans are the worst haters in the league. They hate so completely and blindly that they can't even acknowledge that anyone we have ever let go because they wanted to get paid were worth it. They are like whiney ex girl friends after they get dumped. I saw some post somewhere where a fan of another team was joking about putting together a great team with the people we trade away or let walk. You know what? It's 1000% true. Honestly not every player we have let go was worth the money but many of them were. I read an article that someone in this forum provided a link to which sadly really opened my eyes. It dealt with the concept that a losing team that spent well under the cap could actually make more money than a winning team that spent to the cap. The concept was based upon every NFL team getting television revenue and selling some base percentage of their tickets which is the case. If a team annually spends 5, 10, 15 million under the cap every year that effectively is almost PURE PROFIT! Teams can up their income/reduce their expenditures and make more money than other teams that are perennial winners. Meanwhile our fans drink the Kool Aide and argue about greedy, lazy, fat, "thug" non team players that don't deserve to be on the GREAT Bills team and enjoy the sunny warm weather, the night life and the beautiful beach body women. They even question the validity of probowl nominations saying it is a popularity contest. If it is a popularity contest how does unpopular as hell Buffalo and Buffalo Bills players ever make it????? What is really going on is that any player that becomes any good and wants fair market value for their services is shown the door. Why? Not because they aren't worth the money but because the team is more profitable by over paying for mediocre and never paying for elite. Instead of the fan base holding the organization's feet to the fire for getting rid of the good guys we actually are DUMB enough to applaud them for not giving in to these greedy players and sing their praises for getting rid of "thug" player "X" or saying it was time to get rid of player "Y" because they have some pet practice squad or late round draft pick guy they are pulling for that should be starting. IDIOTS!!!!!

Trent looked good? Really? Evans has had some great games. If you followed the Bills closely enough you know he did it with a big armed QB. Deep speed is only a decoy threat if your QB can't actually throw him the ball. Flacco fits the Bill. His preseason performance is not an aberration it's foreshadowing of what's to come.
-
But Lee is not a #1 WR. His stats have fallen off and he can't get open. We were lucky to get a 4th round pick for him.

Buddy Nix finally said it out loud in an interview. Maybin played at 228 at Penn State. He showed up at the combine at a rocked up 250. Maybin now plays at 228 and can't keep the weight on. Draw your own conclusions but the issue is pretty obvious to me. I hope he spends the money wisely that he stole from the Bills. He will never have to work again.
-
No doubt. Let's trade Stevie Johnson now while we can get something for him. He won't be any good against double coverage all game long.
-
This pretty much says it all. Everyone outside of Western NY can see it but we are still in denial. Don't get me wrong. The Bills are my team and I defend them to the end but even I have to be realistic. I'm done whining about it. There is a reason why we get no respect nationally and in the media. Ruvell Martin - WR - Bills Bills signed WR Ruvell Martin, formerly of the Seahawks. The Bills just lost both Donald Jones (head) and Naaman Roosevelt (ankle) for the preseason's duration. The 29-year-old Martin caught seven passes for 158 yards in Seattle last year. He's a fifth receiver-caliber player, which makes him a candidate for significant playing time with Buffalo.

Hate to say it but this is a VERY plausible explanation for the questionable moves that we see every few months or so. Some will never see behind the veil or stop swallowing the BS but I think this guy has proposed a very realistic and very likely scenario. In a way I can't blame a business owner for trying to make the business as profitable as they can. It's a damn shame that it causes fans that buy into the false desire of the front office to be competitive so much heartache. I can't wait until the salary floor FORCES cheap ass teams to actually spend on talent. The only worry is that Buffalo would continue the trend of overpaying mediocre talent instead of adequately paying elite talent. Well that and Ralph might realize he can't milk the western NY populace anymore and moves and or sells the team. Unfortunately I don't think our team is going to truly be competitive until somewhere between 2013 and 2016 when we are forced to end the accounting tricks and spend real money. No more taking contract bonus money and applying it to the same fiscal year the contract was signed. We will be forced to amortize the bonus over the length of the contract like teams that are trying to win do. We will be forced to spend REAL money every year no more accounting tricks.

The 3rd choice as with every year is a FA. That being said the obvious choice is to keep your teams one and only probowler at the time. Can you imagine if that happened in another city? Somehow the front office got the fans to believe that trading away one of our best players because he wanted fair market value for his services was a good idea. It's 2011 and here we are as usual well under the cap this year to the tune of around $30 million. What were we saving all this money for? It sure as hell wasn't to pay other difference making players and put a better product on the field. #6 Is pretty much right on the money. Peters played on an island Bell constantly has TE and RB help. Additionally I will add: 8. Bell is not and never was going to develop into a quality LT in this league.

Remember when we started the 08 season 4-0...

Stop the 1 hit theory! Edwards sucked and people who supported him were wrong. It's the tact of those who can't admit they were wrong. His game back after the hit was actually pretty good for him. The Losman supporters were able to admit they were wrong. Time for the Edwards supporters to do the same. He was not a star in the making that only a select few could see his talent and if it weren't for the "hit" would be a franchise pro bowler. Edwards is even quoted as saying that the hit had no impact on his on field performance. By the way that 4 - 0 start was against teams that ended the year with horrible records and not a single one of them was a 3 - 4 defense. If I am not mistaken Edwards has never beaten a 3 - 4 defense in his time in Buffalo. The infamous Miami game may have been an exception but I don't think they ran a 3 - 4 at the time. Did the "hit" only affect his ability to read a 3 - 4 defense? -
I guess I should have said I am sick of being offered a big stinking glass of the Kool Aide while others call me all manner of names for not drinking it.
-
I can't drink the Kool Aide any more. I think it's making me sick. We can't wait until we have a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady to get a quality LT. The supposed franchise QB theory doesn't hold water with me. I know I'm grossly exaggerating but if we don't want to be looking for 3 new QBs by week 8 we need to do something.
-
So why are we trying Levitre at LT. Sounds like the coaching staff knows something you don't? Have we had a pass catching TE on the left side in 3 years? Bell gets TE and RB help and chips all day everyday.
-
I know the tired old phrase that it's only preseason but the skies are starting to cloud up. If you have guys that are definite starters you don't experiment with flipping them around like we have been doing. Magic eight ball says out look not so good.
-
Just wondering what the general temperature is regarding the lack of consistency and performance at the LT position in the last 3 years.
-
I think the real deal is they were legitimately trying to see if Rinehart was better than Levitre and to see how he did with the first team. I also think that they are finally admitting that Bell is SOOOOOO bad at LT that they are trying anyone who has had any experience at LT give it a shot. That is Levitre. We probably have a few other bums that can give it a shot too so we will see how it goes.

I would love to have given him a chance. Would have provided some quality guard play while we wait for the possibility to happen. Instead we have....well...ya know.

Another year, another bad offensive line
PDaDdy replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Apologists need to stop. The line need to be fixed there is not doubt about that. The only question is do we find or trade for some free agents this year or do we wait and fix it next year in free agency and of the draft. Offensive line?....BOOOOOO! -
If TJ signed with us they would pull that commercial immediately. They can't give small market Buffalo any national press.
-
I'm doing funnels of the Kool Aide at this point but I think a top 15 defense is very easily obtainable. As many have mentioned HEALTH is the only concern in my mind. Dareus, Merriman and Barnett added to Kyle "Pro bowl" Williams is a hell of an upgrade. If healthy that is a tremendous amount of game changing impact right there.

Oh me too. Some clown started a thread alleging that Lee asked for a trade. No backing info of course. PDaDdy, on 17 August 2011 - 01:18 PM, said: BUT BUT BUT!!! He requested a trade..ALLEGEDLY. *sarcasm off* Ya man. I was just more poking fun a this dude who started a thread about that.
